Chapter 27: I Got Lucky

"Hyung please stop," Jungkook begged as he tried to reach for the phone that was by the silver haired man's ear.

Yoongi arched his back in order to miss the maknae's desperate hand. Grinning as he chuckled into the phone, he watched as Jungkook grew red at the sound of laughs coming from the other end.

"Yup," Yoongi answered the other member's dying questions on the other end, "he finally managed to tell her...they're a thing now."

Jungkook smiled a tiny bit at the fact mentioned.

"Long overdue," Jimin chimed laughing along with Taehyung who yelled a "thank god". Both confused, as Jungkook had managed to hear that over the line, Yoongi put it on speaker phone as Taehyung spoke.

"Now Jimin and I don't have to work on this stupid pact anymore," he grumbled and Jungkook grew confused.

"Pact?"

"Yeah," Jimin laughed, "we promised one another that we'd do anything we possibly could in order to have you and Y/N finally date."

Yoongi snorted.

Jungkook came to harsh realization. "The time with the ride—"

"Giving her a ride," Taehyung chimed, "yup. We were both on it."

"Along with other marvellous times," Jimin sang out playfully.

Jungkook laughed.

"Hyung! I told you not to meddle or force this!"

"Well look where our meddling brought you now," Taehyung slyly let out, "you two have finally grown up and faced your feelings for each other."

Jungkook chuckled.

"But now it's just Yoongi hyung's turn," Taehyung piped slowly.

Yoongi's brows furrowed as he moved uncomfortably on the bed. He feared that Taehyung might know about Racy being at this gateway. Things were finally starting to get better between the two of them and the last thing he wanted was for them to fight again.

"What do you mean?" Jungkook asked slowly. He noticed his hyung's lost expression and knew exactly what he was thinking about.

"Yoongi hyung," Taehyung sighed, "along with me...we've both gotta move on ourselves."

Yoongi's eyes glazed over.

Jungkook's mind went to Racy being invited to the event. Sighing, he took the phone from his frozen hyung before sitting down next to him. "You're right hyung," Jungkook said as he awkwardly glanced over at Yoongi, "Everyone deserves to be better...even Racy deserves to move on."

Yoongi eyed the maknae.

Jungkook smiled reassuringly at him and Yoongi nodded slowly. Smiling lightly, he got up and walked out the bedroom door.

Taehyung could sense the tension through the phone.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Jungkook slowly explained, "Yoongi hyung's just having a hard time figuring himself out lately."

There was silence on the other end.

"Hyung?"

"Racy is there isn't she?" Taehyung asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Jungkook's bottom lip folded below his upper. Swallowing he nodded to no one in particular, "Yes."

Again, there was silence.

Jungkook could hear the ruffling of an oblivious Jimin going through the room that Taehyung and him shared.

"Hyung invited her for closure," Jungkook clarified, "both of them need it. Heck, even I'm thinking about talking to her at least once and finally ending that chapter in my life."

Silence.

Jungkook's voice was soft, almost hesitant.

"I suggest you do the same when we get back..."

"Okay," Taehyung quietly let out.

Jungkook smiled lightly.

"Take care hyung, we'll be back soon."

"Ye," Taehyung said while waving Jimin over to the phone again.

Now Jungkook was put on speaker phone.

"Bye!" Jimin chimed hastily as he was ready to go shower.

Jungkook laughed as he could hear the running of his hyung. Jimin could give less than two shits over anything at the moment.

Taehyung chuckled himself before formally greeting the maknae with a soft goodbye.

"Watch out for everyone," he soothed and Jungkook nodded, grinning.

Cutting the line off, Jungkook sat there on the bed as he waited for the two in the bathroom to eventually come out and show themselves.

It was time to finally attend the birthday party all were invited to.

-

You smiled at the feeling of his hand by the small of your back. It was almost reflex for him at this point.

Leaning into his touch as you waited beside Jungkook in line, you allowed yourself to eye the giant hall that the party was being held in. In awe of the beauty of it, it baffled you just how much money must've been spent on a five-year-old's birthday. Eyeing the line up on its own, you saw hundreds of unfamiliar faces, all dressed as if they owned the function themselves.

"Can I leave?" Iris whispered into your ear.

You pursed your lips from smiling before looking back at Iris who was awkwardly holding at her own arm, trying to to accidentally fumble onto Jungkook and you.

You knew she felt uncomfortable. Here Jungkook and you were glued to one another, while behind her was Yoongi and Racy practically inseparable as well. You had heard the woman mumble missing Shawn about three times already since they had arrived.

"No," you piped before sticking out your arm for her to take, "you were invited too."

"Yeah," she mumbled as she took your arm and linked through it, "as Yoongi's plus one. That clearly isn't the case now."

You glanced back at Racy and Yoongi who were softly talking to each other while in line. Eyes softening, you noticed Jungkook try to reassure her along with you.

"Who knows? You might find someone in there that would gladly want you by their side," he said grinning and Iris's nose scrunched.

"I'll pass," she said lowly, "I came for the food."

You laughed under your breath, "I did too."

Jungkook laughed, shaking his head as he stared up front and over at the check-in that they were nearing.

-

You smiled at the little girl who was on Iris's lap. Poking at her playfully as she giggled and squirmed. Iris and you talked down at her.

"Where's you daddy?" you chimed as she giggled when Iris tickled her. She hugged the woman immediately.

The little girl seemed to point over at the front where everyone was clustered and you smiled before nodding. Playing with her some more, you laughed as Iris tickled her again.

"Happy birthday," you sang out as her head fell lightly onto your lap a bit.

She smiled hugely at you, grinning before having her eyes meet Jungkook who lightly moved her bangs away from her little forehead.

Heart warming when she extended her arms in the direction of Jungkook, you smiled sweetly over at him.

Iris laughed before mumbling a "no" and pulling the child towards her, guarding her from Jungkook who was now willingly bringing his arms out for the little girl to move into.

"Hyeon he's not worth it," Iris playfully whispered into the girl's ear before moving away from the maknae who chuckled.

"Oppa," the Hyeon whined as she tried to reach for him again.

Jungkook laughed before taking the girl into his arms. Iris pouted and Jungkook grinned smugly over at her. "Sorry, it's just that you might drop her," he teased and you nudged his side as Iris pouted further.

Laughing all of you looked over at the girl who was now playing with Jungkook's collars.

Yoongi smiled from his seat, his eyes lingering over at Iris who was smiling and trying to pinch at the little girl's cheeks.

Having her gaze meet his for a moment, Iris smiled warmly over at him and he grinned, nodding over at her as a greeting.

Racy's smile faltered from the sight of the little girl once catching the interaction between the man next to her and the woman up across the table. She smiled painfully when Iris's eyes met hers.

Iris looked away when viewing Racy's expression.

"Oppa you came with unnie?" she asked as she lightly tapped over at your cheek.

You grinned like an idiot over how cute the little one was before nodding for Jungkook.

The little girl clapped, "She's really pretty!" she sang out and you chuckled out a "thank you" before tapping playfully at her nose.

Jungkook grinned, glancing over at you before nodding, "She is, isn't she?"

You nudged him again when his eyes seemed to be viewing the side of your face. He grinned at your ears going red.

"Ah! Hello, hello!" a hurried voice piped from behind Jungkook.

Everyone at the table looked over at PD Nim who was greeting them all.

He had his hand at your shoulder as he spoke to everyone.

"It's nice of you to be here," he sang out before looking over at his daughter with Jungkook.

"Ah, Jungkook-ah could you get her to the back and help them out? She keeps running back out here," their manager sighed out before petting lightly at his daughter's head.

Jungkook laughed, nodding as he stood up with the girl and walked off.

He nudged at your shoulder, "hun, you could join him if you'd like."

You snorted, moving to grab your plate that was centered off in the middle of the table.

"The food's coming out in five minutes," you shot out slyly, "I'm not moving."

Glancing over at Iris, you tried not to burst out laughing at the proud expression the woman had on her face.

And yes, you didn't regret staying for the food. The food was great. But once the event started, Hyeon was out and in the front of the hall, cutting the cake, playing around, and no Jungkook was still to be seen as the time went by. You slowly started to regret not going with him little by little.

Knee moving up and down in anxiety, it didn't help that the table you were sat on was tense on its own. Without the birthday girl around to distract them, the four were incredibly awkward and quiet when alone.

It surprised you how silent Racy was as well.

"I um," you quickly got up from your seat, "I'm going to go check up if PD Nim needs anything."

Feeling Iris's eyes beg you to stay, her expression changed hurt when you almost ran away from the tense atmosphere.

"Y/N," she whined under her breath as she glanced down at her hands that sat in her lap.

Yoongi's eyes softened at the girl's awkward form.

Eyeing Racy uncomfortably, he tried to muster up a conversation but none of the girl's reciprocated back.

He sighed defeated.

-

"You said you had something to talk to me about?" Racy softly whispered over at Yoongi who was awkwardly pulling his coat together on his torso.

Yoongi looked away from staring at Iris who sat across from him and over at Racy. He gulped hard as he nodded, "Y-Yeah."

She waited, wanting him to tell her what was bothering him ever since this morning.

It confused Racy over how considerate he was being to her for the past few hours.

"I can't say right now," he slowly let out before looking over at Iris again.

Racy watched him trying his hardest not to look over at the upset woman before them. She bit at her inner cheek, eyes lingering on Iris herself, she slowly let her hand trail over to his.

He looked at her shocked and confused as she got up from her seat.

"Let's dance," she piped.

"I-"

She simply gently tugged at his arm and was confused when he actually stood up nodding.

Iris watched as they left the table, her eyes meeting Yoongi who smiled over at her sadly.

Once they left, she breathed in a long breath of relief.

"Oh fucking hell," she moaned to herself as she leaned into the back of her chair, "finally."

Relieved over being left alone, although she was still upset over being the fifth wheel the entire party so far, she was happy that at least now there was no weird tension surrounding her form.

Racy let her hand slip out of his when on the dance floor.

He looked at her. His eyes were begging her to go back to their seat.

"You can tell me now," she said as she looked around at everyone else who was simply dancing about.

He struggled.

Her eyes were soft.

"What's wrong with you? Ever since last night you've been acting really weird with me..."

"Weird?" he asked, his voice high.

"Yes, you've been sweet," she said still highly confused, "why are you so nice to me all of a sudden?"

Yoongi tried to move a little to the music but stopped completely when her hand reassuringly went to his upper arm.

"What's wrong?"

He studied her warm eyes well, his stomach turning over all the confusion that battled within him.

He didn't know. He didn't know what he was feeling or why he was feeling it. He didn't know if it was for her or someone else...all he knew was that he was feeling something he couldn't explain and was scared to either face it or simply ignore it.

Taehyung and his words were the only thing that kept him quiet. Taehyung was the only one that helped him unknowingly with wanting to move on and yet here he was standing before the woman that he once claimed he hated.

"Honestly," he sighed out, spilling out the truth, "I really have no idea."

Her forehead crinkled in, caving in from the confusion she now faced.

"What does that mean?"

He shut his eyes for a moment. He told her.

He told her everything that was making him conflicted and scared.

Allowing himself to open up to her a tiny bit, he faced what was true.

-

You laughed down at the little girl who was on your feet. Smiling as you swayed to the music with her, she hugged at your legs when you were about to twirl her.

Having PD Nim pat your back in a thank you, you nodded over at him reassuringly as he went over to greet the many other guests that had attended.

"Mind if I cut in?"

Both you and Hyeon looked over at the boy who had been hidden for most of the party. Smiling at him, you nodded before letting Hyeon go and extending her hand for Jungkook to take.

Jungkook chuckled. "I meant with you," he laughed before lightly taking your hand in his. He leaned over to hug the little girl who started to run over to Iris who was still seated at the table.

Iris rolled her eyes before laughing and having the girl move to dance with her.

"You come to me now?"

You thanked your friend who waved you off. Smiling, you looked back over at Jungkook who slowly allowed his arms to wrap around your waist securely.

Moving your arms around his shoulders, you let out a relieved sigh as you let your body press against his.

"Busy night huh?"

He grinned, nodding, "Hm."

"Is it weird that I missed you?" he asked lightly and you grinned.

Shaking your head, he lightly pecked your forehead.

Moving into his touch, you hugged him now as your head went to lay on his shoulder.

"This all feels like some sort of dream," he sighed out contently, his cheek resting on the top of your head.

"How?"

You could feel his cheek move upwards on your hair as he smiled. The muscles in his jaw grazing your skull gently.

"You...with me..." he admitted softly, "after everything I did I was scared that I'd never be able to tell you just how much you meant to me."

You were quiet.

His hands moved higher on your form, arms squeezing you towards him.

"I'm sorry," he breathed out.

He kissed the top of your hair, his lips lingering. You smiled, head nuzzling into his neck.

"How did you end up with me in the end?" you asked teasingly, trying to brighten up the mood.

You could tell he was starting to have him mind wander off. The last thing you wanted was for him to become upset over everything that had happened between the both of you.

That was in the past now. What mattered most was that the two of you were here, and happily in each other's arms now. That's all that mattered. He is what matters...

Jungkook chuckled, a strand of your hair moving back from the wave of his breath.

"I got lucky," he said as he kissed down at your neck.

You giggled, squirming away.
