The backstory of Fenris

A green forest dragon and a gold female dragon lived together in the forest. They loved each other very much. So much that they were about to have their very own hatchling. The gold dragoness watched over the egg she laid. It was a green egg with a yellow stripe on it. She gasped when she saw her egg start to shake. "Honey! Come quick!" She called. The green dragon rushed over to her and the egg. "Our child! It's going to hatch! I'm going to be a father!" the green dragon roared happily. The egg slowly began to crack. Eventually, the hatchling hatched from its egg! The hatchling had gold hair, gold horns, a green wing membrane and gold wing arms, and fins on his face, tail, and legs. He also had a green body with stripes on his back. All four of his legs also had yellow stripes. On his tail he had golden fur. And he had a gold underbelly. The female dragon happily hugged her new hatchling with her wings and giggled happily. "Priase the Lord! Our child is here!" she rejoiced. "What are we going to call him?" the green dragon asked. "We shall call him Fenris. And he shall be courageous like a wolf and have a strong faith in our Lord" she declared. "I love that name" the green dragon smiled and nodded.

Since then, they took good care of their child. They gave Fenris a home and they gave him good food to eat each day. They taught Fenris the ways of the Lord and his mother would read him the bible every night before he went to sleep. They also attended the dragon church in his home every Sunday, where he also attended bible school. He loved to play and he loved to meet new friends. When he had free time, he got to play with his friends and have good times with them. He felt attached to his friends and to his home that he grew up in. He didn't ever want to leave. He wanted to stay here forever.

All that changed on one fateful day. Fenris became 15 years old. A teenage dragon, but childish at heart. "Son, we have something to tell you" his mother said. He was playing with a butterfly when he heard his mother call. "What is it mother?" he asked. "Son...it's time for you to move away from your old home. We are going to send you to a Christian day care, where you will learn how to be responsible for yourself, now that you have become of age" she answered. "But I don't have to leave my home, do I?" Fenris whined. "Yes, you do. Look I know this is hard for you, but every dragon must leave its nest someday" she explained. "No, mother! What about my old church? What about my friends? Do I have to leave them behind?" he whined some more. "I'm sorry you have to leave all that behind. But things change, honey. I'm sure you'll meet new friends, and you'll have fun. Why don't you stay positive for your mother? And for your old friends back home?" she said as he cuddles Fenris with her wings. "But mother, I don't want to go! My friends will miss me and I'm scared!" he started crying. "Shh..." she hugged Fenris some more. "Don't cry, my child. It will be alright. I know you can do this. I know it's hard, but we all have to go through tough times. Can you do for me?" she asked. Fenris sniffled and wiped his tears. 'I guess so...but I'm going to miss everyone so much..." Fenris whined a bit more. "Come now. We'll say goodbye to everyone before we leave" she said as she kissed Fenris on the cheek.

Fenris and his parents said goodbye to his church and all the friends he made and even said goodbye to their home. Then they flew over to the day care place and landed there. "Here we are, son. Good luck" his mother kissed him on the cheek and gave him one last hug. "Be strong, my son. And have no fear" his father said. "I will, mother and father. I'll miss you..." he hugged both of them one last time before they flew away.

Fenris went inside the day care. There were many young dragons his age there. He felt afraid and overwhelmed because of being around strangers and being in a brand new place. All of a sudden, he could hear a sweet voice as a white female dragon with a gold mane, gold underbelly, and feathered wings walked up to him. "Hello there, child. You must be new here" the white dragon said sweetly. "Ahhh!!" Fenris screamed in fright and dove under a pile of beanbags. The white dragon looked confused as she walked to the beanbags and uncovered him. "What's wrong, sweetie?". "Go away! I'm scared!" he yelled at her in fear. "Come here, young one. I don't bite. I'm your teacher" she smiled sweetly and offered her paw. "You don't?" he said as he took her hand. "Of course I don't, because biting isn't very nice, now is it? You must be new here. What's your name?" she asked. "F-Fenris, miss um..." he stuttered. "Please call me Kimberly. New students have to introduce themselves. Come to the front" she said, as she pushed Fenris up to the front. "Huh? Oh no, please no..." Fenris whined. "Don't be afraid. You'll be fine" Kimberly assured, as she got the attention of the rest of the class and all the dragons stared at him. Fenris felt very scared. He was scared of speaking in front of a crowd of new people. "H-hello. My name's Fenris. I'm a new student here." he said very nervously. "Hello Fenris" the crowd said in unison. "Now come on. Why don't you go meet someone new?" she suggested. "Oh, alright..." he looked at the other dragons nervously.

He looked over to a silver dragon that was trying to set up a train track. The silver dragon smiled at him. "Oh, hello hello! Wanna play trains? I'm trying to set up my train track!" the silver dragon asked. Fenris looked at the toy trains and began to feel sad, because it reminded him of when he used to play trains with his old friends. "Um...no that's okay. I don't like trains" Fenris bluffed. "Awww. I'll find someone else to play with" the silver dragon frowned. Fenris turned around only to be face to face with a black dragon, which made him gasp in fright. "Finally! A new dragon to play dinosaurs with! RAAAAAWR!" the black dragon pushed a T-Rex toy in Fenris' face which made Fenris scream. "I don't want to play dinosaurs! Dinosaurs are scary!" Fenris cried. "No, dinosaurs are cool! But the T-Rex is the coolest! Come on, play with me!" the black dragon laughed. "No, I'm scared! Your T-Rex will eat me!" Fenris cried. "No, no, it's fun! Here, you can be the velociraptor! Or the triceratops! Or the stegosaurus! Or maybe the brontosaurus..." the black dragon put his toys in front of Fenris. "No! I don't want to play!" he ran from the black dragon and ran into a young blue dragoness. "Whoa there! What are you scared of?" she frowned and looked at Fenris. "I'm scared of the other kids. And I miss my old home..." Fenris sniffled. "Cheer up. Why don't you play dolls with me? They're nice and they don't bite" she offered. "I'm too upset to play. I just want to go home..." he said, as he looked down and sighed. "Children, put your toys down. It's prayer time" Kimberly called, as all the other dragons came over to her. But Fenris stayed put. "Fenris, dear? Come here." Kimberly called. Fenris walked over to Kimberly with his head down. "Fenris, what's wrong? You've been crying all day..." Kimberly asked in concern. "I...I..." Fenris shook with fear. "Oh kids, prayer time will be on hold. I need to talk to our new student" Kimberly said. The other dragons nodded and went back to playing with their toys as Kimberly took him inside the worship room.

The worship room had a stage and musical instruments for worship, and fancy comfortable chairs. There was also a shelf full of bibles and prayer books. Kimberly led Fenris to the comfy chairs and they sat next to each other. "We're by ourselves and away from the other kids. Now tell your teacher what's wrong" Kimberly requested. "I...I..." he tried to get the words to come out of his mouth. "Well? Please tell me" Kimberly requested again. "I don't like the kids here. I'm scared. I miss my family...I miss my old friends...I miss my old church...and I want to go home..." he burst into tears and sobbed loudly. Kimberly frowned and wrapped her wings around him. "Aww sweetheart, now I see. Your old home mean't so much to you and you had to leave it all behind. I understand why you're upset. But surely you can get used to your new home, can't you?" Kimberly asked. "I...I don't know...I wish I was back in my old home..." Fenris sobbed. "This is your new home now. Sometimes things change whether we like it or not. But good things can come out of change. Now, you say you miss your old church?" Kimberly tilted her head. "Yes, I do. I miss my old church and my old friends..." Fenris sniffled. "I know you miss them very much. But here, you can make new friends. I'm sure they're not bad when you get to know them." Kimberly said, smiling. "But Kimberly, I'm scared. It's hard to meet new friends..." Fenris whined. "Don't be afraid. I'm sure you will grow to love them. And soon you will get used to your new home" Kimberly rubbed Fenris' head. "I guess..." Fenris sniffled. "Well, I know someone who will make you feel all better. You believe in Jesus, don't you?" Kimberly asked. "Yes, I do! I love him! He died on the cross to save me...but why do you ask?" Fenris tilted his head. "Because Jesus loves you too. He know what you are going through. Just go on and talk to him. Pray to him. Have a conversation with him. He knows what you are going through. He is here to comfort you. I will begin our prayer time" Kimberly got up and had the other kids come inside.

She got on stage and started singing "silent night" as she played her harp. Fenris knelt down in front of the stage and looked upwards as the calm tune made him relax. He sighed and spoke a prayer out loud. "Father, it's me. Fenris. Please give me the strength to face these changes in my life. Help me get used to my new home and help me make new friends. I'm scared and I don't know what to do. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen..." Fenris sighed as he concluded his prayer. Fenris then fell asleep to the lovely tune. When Kimberly finished, she took Fenris to the bedroom and put Fenris down for a nap. "Sleep well, my new student" she said, as she kissed Fenris goodnight, although it was still daytime. She led the kids out of the worship room so they could work on their bible studies.

When Fenris woke up, he noticed he was in the bedroom, wondering how he got there. He got out of bed and found Kimberly and the other kids waiting for him. "Hello, dear Fenris. You fell asleep so I put you down for a nap. We are about to grow some crops. How are you feeling?" Kimberly asked. "I'm feeling better. But I want to talk to these kids" Fenris looked at them. "Oh you want to meet new friends? I'll get out of you way" Kimberly smiled. "Hello, hello. What is it my dear friend?" the silver dragon asked. "Hello. Um...I was wondering if I could play trains with you. I do like trains. It's just that when I saw you playing with trains, it reminded me of my old home and I started crying. Can you ever forgive me?" Fenris begged. "Of course I forgive you! I've always wanted someone to play trains with!" the silver dragon hugged Fenris. Fenris hugged in return as the black dragon walked up to him. "Hey buddy. I wish you would play dinosaurs. Nobody wants to play dinosaurs with me..." the black dragon looked very sad. "Aww, I'd love to play dinosaurs! I was wrong. Dinosaurs are cool! It's just that you startled me and I was so scared and overwhelmed over meeting new friends and living in a new home. Can you ever forgive me?" Fenris asked. "You mean it? You will? Oh, yes! I forgive you!" the black dragon roared happily and hugged Fenris tightly. Finally, the female blue dragon walked up to him. "Will you play dolls with me too? We can play dragon house" she offered. "Sure! I don't see why not. I'd love to play" Fenris nodded happily. "Aww you see Fenris? You're making new friends already. You were just scared. That's all. Now you're getting used to your new home" Kimberly said, petting Fenris on the head. "Uh huh. I'm learning to like it here. It's not my old home, but I'll get used to it" Fenris nodded happily. "Okay children, come outside. We are going to learn how to grow food" Kimberly said, as he led Fenris and the kids outside.

From there, Fenris learned how to grow food for himself. And how to live on his own. He got used to his new home and he enjoyed learning new things. And he loved praying with his new friends and worshiping together. He loved to play with trains like old days, and he learned to love playing with dinosaurs, as well as even dollhouses and dolls. With God on his side, he had no fear. He missed his old home, but he appreciated his brand new home and the friends he made. It can be scary to leave everything behind and live somewhere new, but good things will always come out of it in the end. After day care, Fenris lived in a cottage of his own and he grew his own crops. And he has lived there ever since. And that's where all his new adventures began. And now you know how it all started.
