Chapter 9
She watched from the same place through the transparent glass, as the woman who she then knew to be Miss Devon drove away from the house. Ever since the confrontation by the lady, she had yet to see Vincent. She had expected that he'd at least come to clarify things for her immediately the bitch left but he didn't. Tapping her foot against the floor, she whistled an unknown tune trying to distract herself from being furious. Did it work?
"Oh, fuck it!"
She marched to Vincent's room and pushed the door open without knocking. He was half dressed, in a black baggy slacks and was about pulling a shirt on when she barged in. He was shocked by the sudden outburst but kept his cool and appeared bored if only to infuriate her more.
"You didn't have to put up so much drama, if you wanted to see me naked you could have just asked. Should I do a strip show for you now that you're here?" Ignoring his jab, she walked to the bed and sat right on it. Folding her legs, she fixed Vincent with a look, hoping he'd get the hint and start pouring his heart out. He didn't though. Instead, he went to sit at his desk, opening his Apple laptop and began typing.
His room distracted me for a while. That wasn't the first time I was seeing the room but that was the first time I was sane enough to take in the room. It wasn't much, like mine it had white walls the only difference being the BTS group wallpaper plastered on the wall across his bed. It wasn't that huge and it looked like someone tried peeling it off but apparently the gums were still strong. His room almost looked empty, even though I had just moved in days ago, my room looked as like an actual human being's room, his did not.
The few furniture were made with oakwood just like mine, the closet was huger so was the bathroom. That was practically the whole thing. It hit her that maybe this man didn't like to spend his money, that would explain why his net worth never decreased like other rich men.
"You must be a skinflint." I almost smacked myself across the face when I said that. I really have to stop this thing I do when I say something without carefully processing it in my mind but it was out already, there was little she could do.
"What gave it away?" His speed didn't falter a bit as he typed on, the only assurance that he was the one that talked was the fact that he tilted his head a little to her direction, besides he was the only one except her in the room.
"Your furniture."
"For someone as dumb as you are, you sure are good at observing. It'll serve you well." She gave him her middle finger even though she very well knew he couldn't see her.
"Okay." She didn't want their bickering make her forget her main reason for coming there.
"So, who was that?" She quickly said a prayer in her mind that he wouldn't turn it around and make her feel like she was intruding and that it was none of her business. This time he turned around, a blank look on his face.
"That's my girlfriend." She looked at him bewildered. Before agreeing to sign the contract, she had made some researches about his love life and she found out that he recently broke up with his girlfriend. No one knew the reason and when he was asked about it in a party he attended, he said they just didn't feel anything for each other anymore, his ex girlfriend said that it wasn't true but she didn't think it was important to read what she said.
"B-but you just broke up with your ex?" She didn't think it was that easy to start a relationship, it wasn't even a month yet. Who was this man again?
"Hm, I did." He shrugged and looked her right in the eye. She noticed the corner of his mouth twitching, she sighed, relieved, he was just joking. She was sure of it.
"She isn't your girlfriend." She said with so much certainty. He chuckled.
"Yeah, she is not my girlfriend, a fuck buddy would be more appropriate." He turned back to his work and ignored her again.
"You seem to like giving people names." He nodded.
"Want to hear yours?"
"I think I know it already." She waved a hand dismissively. She didn't need him reminding her the life altering decision she made.
"But is it not against some rules to have non business related relationship with your employees? I read it somewhere that it's against the business stuff rule."
"I don't follow rules, I make them. And if possible I break them." I snickered and shook my head. He sounded so much like a teen boy who had just celebrated his sixteenth birthday and was feeling like an adult. I didn't tell him that, though.
"You didn't just form that, I've heard it from some time I can't remember right now so don't go ahead feeling like a boss for a quote you stole." He had turned back to me and was pouting.
"Ugh, you caught me. I didn't think you'd have heard it before but then I should have known since you seem to always hear everything from somewhere." She smiled a self satisfied smile. It didn't last for long, though.
"If only you'd stop asking dumb questions all the time, maybe I'd say you were smart." It didn't surprise her as it should have, maybe she was getting used to his insults. An awkward silence descended, the only sound that could be heard was from the keyboard of the laptop. She was looking around the room, wondering if she should just walk out when her attention was pulled to the glass wall facing the pool, it was directly facing her room which was also in front of the pool on the other side.
If Vincent was sitting on his bed he'd still be able to see everything that went on in her room, she swallowed.
"V-vincent?" He must have heard the urgency in her voice because he turned to her without first throwing an insult.
"M-my room y-your room."
"You mean to mention the fact that our rooms are almost facing and that way I can see everything that goes on in your room and you can see everything that's going on in mine right? Well it has been that way before you came and I have no intention of changing it."
"Do you l-look at me s-sometimes?"
"Well, there was this time I think yesterday when I concluded you'd be a bad dancer. I mean, with those moves, you wouldn't win a nine months old in a dance contest." That did it. I sprang out of bed and stalked out of the room.
