Chapter Three: Interrogations

"I'm Katara, by the way."
"(Y/N)"

Your voice comes out scratchy and hoarse.
"Well, I'm Aang and this is Appa," said the boy. The flying bison made a grunt sound that made a small smile come on your face.

"We're about to land," Aang said. "Are you going to run again?" Katara asked. You could tell she was being sincere. "No," you say shaking your head in self pity.

Appa lands at their camp site in the ruins. You sigh before you get up. these people seemed nice but you didn't know about their friends.

***Timeskip***

After you landed Katara did her best to heal your side. You still had to wear a bandage, but there wasn't a constant blood flow. They had also given you some food and water, you had been going on nothing since your first capture. They were going to lock you up, but Katara and Aang vouched for you. Now you were going to try to explain what just happened when you don't even know what happened.
Katara's brother started, "First thing's first. WHO ARE YOU, WHAT WAS THAT PORTAL-THING, WHO WAS THAT GUY AND WHY DID HE CALL YOU AVATAR?!" he yelled, getting up close to your face. You leaned away from him. He wasn't threatening, he was just in your space bubble.

"Sokka!" Katara said in a firm voice, "First we should tell her our names. then maybe she'll be willing to answer you questions. "WHY WOULD WE DO THAT?! She could be one of the Fire Lords spies!" Sokka yelled at Katara, "We already know she's a fire bender!"

"But she's not just a fire bender!" Aang chimed in, "She also air bent and earth bent!"
"Twinkle-Toes is right," said the blind girl, "I felt her earth bend. No one else was bending except for us."

"Um... I'm right here you know," you said, getting annoyed that they're acting like your not here. "I also already know almost all of your names: Sokka, Katara, Aang, and Appa," you say pointing at each of them.

After a second, Sokka continues yelling, "How did she know that!? How did you know that!?"
"I listened," you say with a smug look on your face.

"UGGGGGGG!!!"

"Calm down Pony-tail. It's not like it's the end of the world."

"You know what? Your right. It's fine," Sokka has a smile on his face, "because she doesn't know all of our names."

"Well, I'm Zuko." said the boy with the the scar.

"ZUKO!" Sokka yelled.

"And I'm Toph," said the blind girl.

"TOPH!"

Suddenly a strange, white monkey with long ears jumped on your head.

"MOMO!!"

Momo jumped off of your head onto the edge of the fountain next to you. You bend over and gently rub your fingers together while making a light clicking noise with your tongue. After a few moments, Momo rubs his head on your hands a and lets you pet him.

"Wow," says Katara, "You connected with him almost as fast as Aang," she then turns to her brother, "you know, they say that a animals and children have the best instincts about people."

After some raging, he aggress to trust you.
"But you still haven't answered the questions!" He says.

You sigh and roll your eyes. "My name is (Y/N), I'm going to assume that 'portal-thing' was... Wait for it... a portal, that guy was probably the emperor, and he called me avatar because that's what I am apparently," you answer calmly, with a hint of sarcasm and annoyance.

"But that doesn't make any sense. There can only be one Avatar at a time," Aang said in a confused voice. "Well then I guess I time traveled," you say. "But if your the avatar, why would he get rid of you?" Zuko asked.

"Because in my time, everyone hates benders. Especially the Avatar!" You almost yelled that but you kept it under control. "Look. I appreciate your generosity, but I need to get going and it sounds like you already have your hands full with the whole fire...nation...thing. So I'm just going to get out of your way," you say as you start to walk away.

"What?"
"No way!"
"Your injured."
"Your not going any where!"

You turn back around and look at them.
"We need to figure out how there are two avatars at once," Aang says, "It wouldn't be very good if we go into the avatar state at the same time and get stuck like that."

Considering you have no idea what 'the avatar state' is, you're not convinced.

"At least stay the night, so we can figure this out. And in the morning you can leave," Zuko says.

You stare at him for a second. You don't know what it is, but it seems like him saying that is what makes you want to stay.

"Alright," you say, "Just the night. don't be surprised when I'm gone in the morning."
