Chaper Seven: Prision (part 1)
Upon your arrival to 'special place she has in mind for you,' she personally escorts you to your cell. Your cell is actually below the castle, which means your going to be getting "special treatment" from the princess herself. There are only about a few cells in the underground room. Yes, the hallway is heavily guarded, but all of the cells are actually all in one, unguarded room. There are about four cells in the room. The light is dim and erie shadows are cast throughout the room. Most of the corners are unlit and the ground is concrete and covered in pools of water. All together, poorly kept. Almost as if it hadn't been in use until recently.
"Please excuse the mess," the Princess said, as if you cared, "We haven't needed to use this old place until recently. Most people aren't....worthy.... of being kept here." She smirked. You rolled your eyes at her choice of words. "Why the long face?" she asked as she closed the door to your cell, "You should feel honored to get to stay here. Not many get to say that they stayed beneath the castle, although, not many live to tell the tale." She let out a chuckle, almost deranged sounding. She began to leave, but stopped at the door as if she had forgotten something. "Oh. And I wouldn't worry about your roommate if I were you," she said holding the door, but not fully turning to face you, "Don't worry. He doesn't bite...." With that she left, leaving you hanging. She phrased her sentence as if she had more to say. Like it was unfinished.
"Well, there's one thing she's right about...," a voice chuckled. You quickly looked around the room for the source. Your eyes land on a dark corner across the room from you. "I don't bite," the voice finished. It sounded... elderly. Like an old man. "You must've done something really bad to end up down here," he says. You remained silent, unsure if you could trust this man. Sure, the princess was probably just playing with your head, but still...
The man stepped into the light. He was a stout old man with a round belly. He seemed like the kind that would be a fun uncle or grandfather if he wasn't being held prisoner. "My name is Iroh," he said with a kind smile.
You wanted to be polite and say hello, but your voice a seemed to stop working. That's just something that happens. When you're caught off guard, or something dramatic happens, your brain seems to shut down and you can't seem to do anything for a few moments.
Due to the silence, the man continued, "Might I have the pleasure of learning your name?" You brain finally started working again. "Y/n" you said. You had control over your voice, but your body and face seemed to be frozen in place. 'Breath,' you thought, 'Just breath and you'll be fine.' You didn't know what to call your shut-downs, but you knew that they happen at the strangest moments. Like how you would be in the middle of a sentence and suddenly you could speak fluent gibberish. It was as if you would freeze up from fear with no explanation why.
With in seconds, you gained control again. To test that everything was working, you walked around the cell, pretending to be interested in the walls. "If you don't mind me asking, (Y/n), what did you do to end up down here?" he asked. "Honestly, I don't know," you say truthfully, "One minute I'm taking a peaceful stroll. The next I'm getting yelled at by a self-absorbed, sorry excuse for 'royalty'! So what if I don't bow? I have not reason to! It's not like she's earned it!" You catch yourself mid-rant. "...Or anything," you mumble, sitting down on a dry patch of the ground. Your hand jumps out of the pool of slimy water you had set it in and you immediately wipe it off. You're fidgety, nervous and confused.
