"Hello, hello, hello! I'm Gloss Show and this here is Areefta Vermilion and we are here with you- the fabulous citizen's of Panem- to bring you the final results of this year's Hunger Games!" Every monitor on Panem flicked on simultaneously to display the two hosts sitting at the same metallic desk with the same screen that they had been sitting at the entirety of the game. At the moment, the screen was blank.

"Now this year's bloodbath proved to be especially devastating, with a total of 8 tributes dying. Now I, as the Hunger Game's leading expert, attribute this to Chess Winchester's twist with the weaponry. The tributes had been taught over training and for a select few through their district's academy to use traditional weaponry. When suddenly they were thrown a curve-ball of no weaponry they were forced to improvise or be killed." Areefta commented, extending her neck slightly with an air of prideful importance about her. Behind her, on the screen was footage from the bloodbath.

"Yes!" Gloss said, though by now it was very apparent to everyone who watched his interviews that the young man would agree with just about everyone on everything. "I agree, but really it just made the games all the more interesting." Gloss glanced down at a paper in his hands."So in 26th place we have Fletcher McKennon, in 25th place we have Elysia Lambrini, in 24th we have Maxim Bishoff, in 23rd we have Wicker Flames and in 22nd we have Pierce Amble. The second half of the bloodbath claimed Alexander Kiojio, who ranks in at 21st, Apollo Oak, who comes in at 20th and Elouisa Flux who manages to steal 19th place by just a few seconds." As Gloss lists off the tributes one at a time the screen flashes with images of them being killed.

There is a slight pause as Gloss shuffles the papers on the desk and a bored expression crosses Areefta's face. "The following evening the gamemakers sent beasts after the tributes, taking out Heaven Taylor in 18th place, Beatrice Winter in 17th place and a capital favorite, Otto Han."

Gloss frowned and shook his head. "I was like so said when Otto died, I thought he would outsmart the others, then again I suppose the odds were stacked against him with his age and all."

Areefta nodded, "Yes, it was slightly disappointing, however the Hunger Games isn't forgiving. He let his guard down and he paid the price. It is simple as that." She glanced over at the papers in Gloss's hands briefly before turning her genetically altered eyes (that had been dyed a turquoise to match her hair) at the screen. "The following day the tributes were forced to fight themselves. For two careers this proved to be too much. Lyric Mason of District 2, a dark horse mostly overlooked in the games fell to his own blade and ranks in at 15. However, the death that shocked us the most was the death of Jem Darling. Most had thought he would last until the very end, he had the brains, he had the charisma and he most certainly brawn in the end that wasn't enough to save him. He comes in at 14th place."

"Moving on, the next challenge proved to be far more fatal, wiping out over half of the remaining tributes. Fleur Cayce, our very own, was the next to fall. She was a solid representative of the heart of our grand country, fierce to no bounds she will not be a tribute that we will be forgetting quickly. Next it was Samuel Johnson, the sweet and lovable boy who made it further than anyone had expected. His small frame and young age wasn't able to stop him from getting 12th place though."Areefta continued with a pause. "You are really forced to wonder, with these younger tributes, if they could have won if they had just been reaped a few years in the future."

Gloss cocked his head to one side, his blonde hair falling across the rather dumb expression he was making. "Yeah. Wow. Thats like a smart thought...."

Areefta only spared him one irritable glance before she continued down her long list of casualties. "The very unstable boy from District 11, Noel Way, comes in at 9th place and is followed closely behind by perhaps the most powerful tribute that District 3 has produced in years; Technick Flux. His death was definitely one that caught us off guard but this is just another reminder that even the tributes with all of the odds in their favor will fall eventually. "

"In 7th place we have District 4's underdog, Addison Catrax, for us in the Capital, it was never a question of if this cripple would die, however none of us expected her to make it as far as she did. In 6th place we have the silent girl from District 8, Tailor Bobbin, who proved herself to be a force to be reckoned with, following her was the other half of District 4, the detached yet powerful career Waye Tidal." Gloss spoke up, rattling off the names of those who had passed just short of the finals.

There was a brief silence as Gloss and Areefta exchanged a glance. Gloss's half of the glance was filled with anxious anticipation as he felt a great pressure (as he always did) at announcing the top 4. While it was true that Panem had already seen the last tribute standing, he felt as though this ranking just solidified everything. Areefta's half of the glance was far less emotional, she was just trying to gauge whether or not Gloss was going to be the one to make the announcement. After a half a second of staring at Gloss's big dumb eyes she decided it was best if she made the call.

"In 4th place we have Dilen Adwynce! The unapologetic girl from District 13 who started at the back of the pack fought her way through the games, more than once hanging on by just her fingernails. Through her trials she gained a large capital following, though she never achieved any sponsors. In the end her youth got the better of her and she was struck down by one of the bigger tributes."

"In 3rd place we have Nevia Saille! This dark, broody girl from District 6 didn't initially catch many people's attention, however as soon as the games began it became very apparent very quickly that she was a force to be reckoned with; ruthlessly cold and painfully efficient she quickly gained a multitude of sponsors. The fact she struggled with her willingness to strip herself of her humanity only increased her capital support which had fans rooting for her until she died just short of the end."

There was one more long drawn out pause as Areefta took a deep breath and stared directly at the camera. "In 2nd place, we have the incredibly complex career Shadow Skye! The young girl initially took us off guard as a tribute from the mighty district of masonry and weaponry, not only being much smaller and frailer than other tributes we have seen come out of that district but also much less enthusiastic about the games, nonetheless with her ingenuity and her amazing skill with an arrow she turned many heads before she was eventually killed by the victor."

"Congratulations to our victor, Mye Bentler! The skittish boy from District 10 didn't initially look like a threat to all those around him. Unusually quiet and even more unusually reluctant to kill, this sweetheart from District 10 never struck anyone as a future victor but managed to prove all of us wrong as he somehow continued to survive time and time again until he was the lone tribute left standing!" Areefta smiled in satisfaction as the footage behind her changed from that in the arena to Mye, blotchy faced and adorned with a slightly crooked crown, as he stood before Panem directly after the crowning ceremony.

"Well thats it folks, we have our victor! Don't fret though, you diehard fans, the Hunger Games will never end, every time one ends, another will begin. Until next year may the odds be ever in your favor."

With that the broadcast shut off and Panem relapsed into a dark silence, waiting, anticipating the next year's game.

And not a single chord was hummed.
