Chapter-3 The Run-Off

I woke up. But what I saw was some spectacular view of the morning.

What I saw: a morning but there was no sun, instead the place around me was surrounded with greenish aurora light. It was so spectacular, that I was lost by just looking at it.

After the looks, I finally managed to pull myself together and stand up, then I decided to try and remember what exactly happened last night.

I looked around at my surroundings: they were some rat-like creatures rushing throughout the ground, I guess, they would be pretty big in reality, because I was, for some reason, standing over the rooftop of a lighthouse-sized building. I walked inside the open door left for me. I saw a padded jacket hanging over a hanger.

I thought to myself, Oh, yes! Now I know what to do, hang myself with the hanger, of course! Why didn’t I thought of that?!

After that hysterical thought pretty much passed from my head, I put out the jacket (okay, so the jacket was icy-blue in colour and it has two metal dots on the neckline) from the hanger, and decided to put it on as armour, because the rat-like creatures did looked more or less like Velociraptors from the Jurassic Park movie.

Then, shortly after that, I found out that the rooftop led to a LONG spiral staircase downwards. As I slowly walked down, I thought about what had happened after I landed over here: I guess, I, completely, blacked out (but if you look at me, on how tired I was when I was going the portal, then it might seem obvious).
After going a little deeper, I found one weapon: it looked like sword mostly.
I grabbed it, and (lo-behold!) it had nine metal blade pieces stuck on a rubber wire. On its handle was written, “A ERRON’s HAND: HANDLE WITH CARE—OR ELSE . . .”
The “OR ELSE . . .” sign did not boost my already low morale.

The Hand was basically a sword which had ten metal pieces stuck together in a rubber wire. So that it was not just sword, in fact it was not a sword at all. It flung through the air elongated, when I used it to slash. It had great range though.

I decided to walk further downstairs, and after getting down further, I found another checkpoint (finally!), I finished the search. The final helmet was sitting just over the stairs (I bet, if I hadn’t been walking cautiously back then, I wouldn't be writing this story now.)

I picked it up and wore it. For me, It thought, yes, it looked good on me. But when, I think after wearing it up, I think I looked more like a ant-head, than a Legendreompian or whatever that is.

I was beginning to walk downstairs when the stairs came to an dead end.
There was an metal wall right on the stairs. A warning on it said: JUMP ON THE CENTRE.

I was afraid yes, but I had no other choice.

I jumped.

The metal door opened up on the exact second as I jumped. I went throught it all.

Basically, the journey was like a mad jump of suicide from the top a building.

And I straightforwardly landed on some trampoline kept down there. After landing, I found a packet designed needles kept there. They were marked Mortal Thorns.

Just after putting the packet inside a pocket on the Jacket, I found a space kept in my jacket about the thorns, I carefully put out three of then and put them where they belonged.
I decided it was time to open the door (to Velociraptors).

When I opened the door, a creature or rather a monster jumped at me, I, flung the Sword at him, what happened was it got shredded alive.
I looked to over to the horizon. There was some kind of an glistening yellow border, which I couldn't look beyond to.

I started running.

So to say, it was like a kilometre faraway from me. Ten to twenty odd creatures started following me.
Once in a while slashed the Sword at the ground in order to shred one of those creatures. But soon enough, I was becoming outnumbered pretty soon. From ten to twenty, it became fifty to sixty.

After running and shredding odd looking creature, for literally a kilometre, I thought hiding among the grass the edge of the line to rest a little would be a good idea; but boy was I wrong?

As soon as purged into the super-tall (yep, it was the size of my height) grass, my helmet: which had Formics Headgear written on it, told me: A VAMPIRE Spotted.

“Oh hell no!” I shouted.

The battle had officially begun.
The Vampire lunged at me from the front. I decided swung the metal blades stuck to the rubber wire; giving the vampire the hit of its life. As we

A second vampire jumped in from behind. Well, I didn’t know what to do about that, so I just decided to turn around.

It was pure luck that saved me, that I can say.

The pins that were stuck inside the right flap of the jacket flung towards the vampire; and he fell back injured.
I was, by then pretty sure, that the odd-raptor like creatures can’t follow me into the grass, I guess that was because they were afraid from these Vampires.

I decided to move forward.

Sure enough, a Vampire awaited my presence.

But this Vampire was not like the other Vampire, he was bigger and bulkier. He lunged at me. I jumped to the right to dodge it.

He lunged again, but I was prepared, I slashed the Sword against the ground, it made the vampire fall to the ground.

But in matter of seconds, lunged again.

I decided, there was no way, I can actually kill it, it was too angry, too aggressive.

That's when the idea struck. Vampires are weak against sunlight.
It swung the sword upwards, the vampire was kicked out the grass. It collapsed, burning into white dust.
I finally was about to walk into the golden, when I felt my calf burning.
I fell down, it hurt so much, it took a lot of pressure to even crawl now. I was crawling slowly to the Golden Border, while feeling my life pass away.

I threw my hand towards the Golden Border, fainting out.

I woke up. I couldn't feel myself, but I could just see a person speaking in the distance. His hair was replaced with burning fire. His body was made up of ash. He spoke to a person standing at the end of the room.

The other person, looked pretty alike to the vampire, I just defeated.
The Fiery person spoke, “You are TELLING me that YOUR MINIONS couldn’t capture a KID?! Explain your FAILURE.”

The other Vampire-like person, who was now beaded with sweat, stammered, “Sir . . .”

“CONTINUE!” shouted the Lord.

“This kid is unlike any other. He is different from others.”

“How?”

“I don’t know. Our best Vampire just managed to bite him in the leg.”

“You, and your Vampires’s Clan, all useless! Get out from my sight!”

The sweaty vampire, decided to run from the place, before he could run, the Fiery guys, spoke again, in quick succession, “You know what? You get punishment for your failure. Strix go get him!”

A reddish bird, burst from behind, it lunged at the Vampire, tearing his brain.

The dream ended.
