Chapter 21

After your first encounter with the alien, you began to notice it would come to your room more often, and sometimes, he would bring his brother with him. At first, you were scared and thought the brother would be hostile, but he was just as curious as the first one, which you nicknamed Axel. He seemed to have liked that name and then his brother got jealous so you named him Axxon which he liked as well. The only difference was that Axel had a gray scar across his head and Axxon had a red one. You weren't sure if they were actual scars or birthmarks, but you used them to tell the two apart. You haven't seen a third one and were too nervous to ask them if there were any other ones out there. You think you'd rather be surprised. You know if there were any other ones, they would be males because the females are twice the size of males and there's usually only one since they had a Queen caste system. After a couple of weeks, almost a month of getting used to them, you noticed that they would treat you as their queen being protective of you, bringing you little trinkets and just spending time with you. They would follow you to the cafeteria in the vents or follow you through the hallways to your room in the vents as well. The vents were their easiest mode of transportation.

"I don't even know what to do with you two." As you were getting ready to head to breakfast to hang out with Michael, Jason, Brahms, and Bubba you were hit with a sudden dilemma. Your two bodyguards were refusing to let you go for whatever reason. They sometimes got like that, but right now was not the time for them to get into one of their moods. "Come no, I need to get to work. You guys can follow me in the vents like you have been doing. Is something going on that the two of you don't know how to tell me?" You will admit you were a little worried that something was going on that they couldn't tell you, but you were caught off guard when Axon bent down and tapped his head against your forehead. Axel was next and did the same motion and you were confused until you heard voices in your head that didn't belong to you.

"Did it work? Can she hear us now?" You heard a hiss

"Hush el before I take it away so that I can't hear you." You were in awe of being able to hear them and understand them all at the same time.

"You can't do that and you know it xon!"  It was safe to assume that Xon was the older brother and Axel was the younger brother.

"How the hell did you manage to do that? How can I hear you both?" Your head swivels between the two of them, needing an answer.

"It could only be done for one sometimes two people if we feel close enough to them, and you happen to be one of those two people." You were flattered, to say the least.

"He's right you know. It could only be done by someone we feel close enough to. You could hear us while we're in the vents above you or near you and you no longer have to guess what we're feeling or thinking." Honestly, you like the sound of that.

"Okay, that is something that could get behind. Thank you for telling me. And even though it's a little bit of a shock, it's pretty cool that I'm able to do that. It's not every day someone could say they're talking to a xenomorph." You check the time and notice you have to go." Okay, now that we're able to talk to each other, can you guys let me go now? I have to get to work. I want to be able to see my friends a.k.a my patients." You are a little antsy and you're more than relieved when they step out of your way and climb back into the vents. You knew they were going to follow you to the cafeteria, but you were fine with that. You didn't think they would disturb you unless necessary.

"We're going to be right behind you don't worry. We'll protect you if anything." His brother didn't interject or deny the claim, so you figured you were on his good side. You did wonder what or whom they would protect you from. If anything, maybe the other xenomorphs that you haven't come across. They probably weren't as nice as those two were. Xenomorphs were territorial creatures, it was in their blood and you're sure they would handle any intruders violently. You cleared your mind, though, as you made it to the cafeteria just in time to see them on the line for their food.

"Y/N! I thought you weren't coming. I missed you!" It was Danny, per usual, and you loved him -you did- but you wanted to give a little attention today to the other ones that you haven't spoken to. He will understand.

"I missed you too, however, I probably won't be sitting with you. I'm gonna sit with the others today. I want to talk to them." He pouted at you before humming to himself.

"Fine, but you're going to have to sit with me during lunch or dinner. I'm not taking a no for an answer." You giggled at him and nodded an affirmative.

"I promised to sit with you, my darling, one of those times." He was satisfied with your answer and he turned around to continue his conversation with Stu and Billy. You noticed since they started talking more, everything has been calm, and Billy hasn't had any outbursts lately, and you're hoping it stays that way. You had your lunch with you, so you went to sit with Michael and Jason, who were already sitting at a table. The two of them got along fairly well, and they also got along with Brahms and Bubba.

"Hi." You smiled big at Jason waving to him and waved at Michael who gave a half wave with a head nod. You saw one of the guards look in stunned silence before turning back to the other guards to continue their conversations. You waited until Bubba and Brahms got their food and sat down with you guys before you started a random conversation. You started talking about Michaels's masks, and Jason's drawings, and you complimented Bubba's flower crown skills, and then you turned to Brahms, asking him how was his piano playing.

"Ms. Y/N, I am very happy that you remembered that I played the piano. It's been a long time since I showed you and would like for you to watch and listen the next time we have activity time." That was something that you wanted to listen to.

" I can't wait to have that time with you. Maybe you could try to teach me even the basics. I could pick up on it. I'm a fast learner." You winked at him and he was beaming and vibrating with excitement. You knew, if you were directly next to him, he would have crushed you in a hug. There wasn't much else conversation, except for Jason writing notes talking about his drawings, as well as Bubba using sign language to communicate with you. You forgot that he knew how to sign, even if it was only short sentences, not big words but you were going to have to learn to be able to understand him. You knew that it would make him happy. You went to turn on your phone when your ears picked up the noise from the vents above you. You figured it was the brothers. So when you tried to greet them, you were surprised to not get a greeting back. Now that made you nervous because you knew if they were in the vicinity, or even if they weren't in the same room, they could still hear you and respond if they were a couple of rooms over, but they didn't. You weren't crazy though, and you heard something in the vent.

"Is everything alright Miss Y/N? You seem to be a little jumpy. Was it the noise in the vents that scared you?" You forgot how observant Brahms was and nodded choosing not to lie to him.

" I thought it was a familiar noise, but I think I am wrong. I will not be too worried about it because it could be anything. It would be funny if it were another patient." The way your gut was talking to you right now, you knew it wasn't another person, but you were hoping it was. You truly felt it wasn't the brothers and you were too nervous to think about one of the hostile aliens getting to you or trying to harm you in a room full of people.

"You seem to be worried over there sweetheart. Why don't you come over here to sit by little old me." You smiled tersely at Freddy and were planning on moving anyway just not towards him.

"I am not worried about them, I am worried about what's in the vents. Something is there." You weren't crazy you heard scuffling and hissing.

"Don't tell me they got to you-" Before the guard can finish a black sharp tail came straight down from the vent splitting the seat in half right where you were sitting.

"YOU SEE! YOU FUCKING SEE! I WASN'T CRAZY BITCH I FUCKING KNEW IT!" The tail went right back up and you looked to see a very angry alien that was not the brothers hiss at you before running back to where it came from. Well fuck you got a very fast and angry enemy.
