Cry for Fear
Warning: Padded cells, injection, mentions of an abusive relationship.
Thomas' first session with Doctor Emile Picani was that night, just before seven as he had been informed by the guards.
He hadn't seen Virgil and Remus since their fight, so he was sat with Roman, Patton, Logan and Janus.
Roman kept glancing around, squirming in his seat worriedly, "do you think Remus and Virgil are alright?"
"They'll be in Isolation, no doubt." Logan said offhandedly, though Thomas could see the way his eyes drifted around the room.
"Isolation?" Thomas asked, poking his third meal of slop for the day, getting it on his finger. God, it was more like goop.
Janus looked down, "yeah. It's where you go if you... misbehave..."
"What's it like?" Thomas asked, noticing how everyone at the table tensed. Maybe that was a question he shouldn't have asked.
Patton was ringing his hands together, "w-well it's not pleasant..."
Logan pushes his glasses up with his middle finger, "it's quiet..."
Janus sighed, "Thomas it is-"
"It's awful." Roman said, "the room is white, padded and soundproof. There're no windows, no light and you don't know where the exit is."
"What? How could you not know where the door is?" Thomas asked.
"They blindfold you, then they spin you and then they-"
"Roman calm down." Patton said softly, placing a hand on the man's shoulder.
Roman took a shaky breath and looked to Thomas, "it can last for however long they want. It's not uncommon for people to go insane from the lack of communication."
Thomas felt a shiver down his spine, he could tell there was more to the Isolation Rooms, but didn't press on. He could only imagine what Remus and Virgil were going through right now.
"When you see Doctor Picani tonight, do what he says, don't argue." Janus said, softly, his eyebrows furrowed in worry.
The teenager nodded uneasily, "sure."
Yes, he had promised to behave but as he sat on the sofa, surrounded by Disney, Anime and cartoon memorabilia, with a man who made a dramatic entrance singing the song by The Narrator from Spongbob Squarepants, (that being the introduction to the Krabby Patty), he found it hard to keep his promise.
The man had half-moon glasses, a beige cardigan and a pink tie. His hair was brown and fluffy, with pale green eyes and a slight stubble.
Doctor Picani - or Emile as he sometimes preferred - greeted him happily, and they began talking.
At first Thomas was ok, he actually liked Doctor Picani and understood all of his weird and zany references, but as time went on - that bring twenty minutes - the fun had stopped and now they were talking about Thomas' personal life.
"Has anything traumatic happened? Maybe that's why you're seeing these so called 'ghosts'." Doctor Picani said softly, a small smile on his face, a smile that didn't reach his eyes.
Thomas shuffled nervously on his seat, "well... I was in an abusive relationship last year..." He admitted, "I thought we were happy, but any little thing I did, if it was wrong he would... but I've been able to see ghosts since as far as I can remember. It didn't lessen or worse when I was with him." Thomas said, he wasn't in denial about it. His parents helped him, he just didn't want to rethink about the event.
"Well then, think further back Thomas." Emile said, writing the information down in his notebook.
Thomas rolled his eyes, "nothing traumatic has happened in my life, besides that! But, my parents helped me, I'm not in denial and sure, I'm not completely over it, I'll never be. But, I don't let it affect me! I come from a normal, loving, welcoming and happy family!"
Emile stared at Thomas, his smile fading from his lips, a frown now on his face and disappointed look in his eyes.
"Now, Thomas. There's no need to lie. I can see you've become close friends with our dear Janus Copperhead." Emile said, "maybe we should get you new friends? Ones who won't influence you-"
"Janus isn't bad!" Thomas yelled, "he's not influenced me into lying! I'm not lying either! I'm telling the truth! My family is great! I've had no traumatic experiences to make me see ghosts! I just see dead people!"
Emile glared, "what you are seeing and visualizing Sanders, are imaginary people. People to help you through your trauma-"
Thomas stood up abruptly, "shut up! I've been through nothing to cause this! Everything I tell you is true! They aren't imaginary! They aren't!" He screamed, tears forming in his eyes.
The yelling attracted the guards that stood outside, who burst in.
Thomas jumped and backed away, as a guard grabbed him restraining his arms behind his back.
"Wait! Let's go! Please let me go!" Thomas yelled, struggling and thrashing.
He felt a pinch in his arm, making him yell in pain, before he began to feel drowsy, everything around his becoming a blur as he stopped struggling and weakened. Then finally, he blacked out, the last thing he saw was Doctor Picani, standing over him and cleaning his glasses.
Thomas didn't know how long he was out for, but when he woke up, he groaned, blinded by all the white- all the white? His cell was gray... he felt the floor beneath his feet. Padded and white.
He went to rub his eyes but found himself unable to move his arms, instead it felt like something was holding his hands and arms to his body.
He looked down and paled, he was in a straight jacket? He struggled, wiggling on the floor as tears fell down his cheeks.
"Please! Let me out! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" He cried out, struggling in terror.
He had no idea where the door was and the room was soundproof as Roman had said, he couldn't hear anything from the outside, and he was sure nobody could hear him from the inside.
Thomas curled up into a ball, sniffing and cried silently, "grandma! If you're here, please talk to me! Or Aunt Patty even! Please! I don't want to be alone!"
His cries were heard and both women stood before him, talking, and he relaxed ever so slightly.
He wasn't alone.
