Hey guys! Welcome back to our Interview book. I am your host and interviewer for today, Appledip_14 here with one of our amazing winners, khadeja_29 to sip some tea. She is the writer of the book, I Guess It Was Destiny. Pick up your cups and get ready!!

Hey Khadeja! I'm Appledip and I will be taking your interview today. First of all, congratulations on coming first in the Constellations Awards! Ahh. . .how do you feel? Did you see that coming?

Nope. I was so surprised because I applied for the romance genre. There were books that were way better than mine but I won. I honestly feel honoured. I have won my first award on Wattpad and I feel amazing.

Congratulations! And it just shows that your book is no less than that of others. So way to go!

Now, before we proceed any further, tell us a bit about yourself!

I'm Khadeja and I am an aspiring writer. I have a love for the romance genre and I read a lot of sad books. A weird mix right. Well if you check my reading list the majority is either cancer books or is very sad. I guess that's were I got the idea for 'I Guess It Was Destiny'.

Oooh! Wow!

So how did you get to know about Wattpad and when did you join it?

I joined in 2016 February and was told by one of my best friends at the time to join. She had told me that you can read a lot of books and you can message others. We just wanted to have a place where we could talk to each other. Soon we both lost interest and I forgot about it.

For 4 YEARS.

In Lockdown my cousins had messaged me ,because I was complaining how I didn't have any books to read, and told me that i should join Wattpad. I was like that rings a bell. I logged in ,since I remembered my password, and I immediately stared to get the hang of it. Again. And here I am alive and healthy.

Haha! Well, we are glad you did.

So, did you join Wattpad as a reader and then started posting your own content or vice-versa?

I initially joined Wattpad to read but when I realised I could write here I was like why not and I soon decided to write.

How would you describe your writing style as?

I honestly have no idea, I personally would love if my writing style was literary but I know for a fact it isn't so I'll leave that question to my readers.

But we love it anyways!

What are your go to genres as a reader? Any favourite book or writer, on or off wattpad...?

I am in love with the book 'The Haunting of Charity Delafield' (it's off Wattpad). It has been my favourite since I was 7 or 8 and nothing can beat it. On Wattpad it is probably 'Killed by Cancer' or 'Trouble In Paradise'. Both cancer books.

Uhun...those are some pretty good books. How did you get the idea of writing such a captivating and striking book? What was the inspiration behind the plot/story-line?

I was inspire by 'the fault in our stars' and 'Five feet apart' but I also wanted to mix in some modern things that happen nowadays here in London. I wanted to make the story interesting and not cliche and I hope that the story I put out in the near future makes readers cry. Yepp that's my main goal for this book, make the reader cry.

Well, if a book makes readers cry then it is said to have truly touched the reader's heart! So all the best!

Also, I'm so in love with your title and the cover is absolutely beautiful! How did you come up with it? And do you define yourself as a Romantic? Because I, personally, am a huge closet romantic...haha!

The title was initially a joke but it soon grew onto me. The cover has to do with the story so if you carry on reading you will find out what that has to do with the book. And as for me being a romantic, definitely. I love romance books.

Ooooh...interesting! It's really good when the cover truly matches with the story.

Well, after reading your blurb, I just couldn't stop myself from adding it to my Library! It's so beautifully written! How did you manage make the blurb and the characters so enticing? Any advice for the fellow writers reading your interview?

I stayed up for 3 hours to make the new blurb and as for the characters that took about a week. I guess my advice is that you should take your time and think about the plot. Make sure you know what is going to happen but don't give it all away in the blurb. I am not the best for advice so sorry if this wasn't any help.

Haha...no! That is a really good writing tip.

So, did you plan your book beforehand and write it or are you planning and writing it along the way while posting it on wattpad?

I am planning and writing along. The book wasn't meant to get this much attention and when it did I was surprised so the chapters were not prepared.

What do you personally prefer though as a writer? Planning and writing the book beforehand or doing that along the way while posting it?

I prefer to prepare your chapters before-hand, you will have chapters to upload every week and you won't have to stress about it.

True...

So till chapter 7, that is the last updated chapter, you have written the book in Summer's pov. So are you planning to switch the pov with Callum's pov or some other character's pov too or will you continue with Summer's through out the book?

I will definitely switch. Since Callum is in remission and Summer has cancer the reader will need to read in both characters povs to understand the story.

Yup. And which character of yours do you relate to the most and why?

I relate mainly to Chris because he has a bubbly personality but I am not as outgoing as he is and I do not have a dirty mind like he does.

Hahaha!

Are any of your characters inspired by someone in real life or are they just figments of your imagination?

They are figments of my imagination.

That's cool!

If you get a chance to spend an hour with any one of your characters, then which one would it be and why? What will you talk about or do...anything specific in mind that you could think of?

I would definitely want to spend an hour with Zoe because I want to know why she acts all rude in front of people.

Oooh! That's a good choice! That would be an intense one hour, for sure! Haha!

Okay well, we know that the MCs of your book, that is Summer, has leukemia and Callum has his own secrets. So the biggest question as mentioned in the blurb apart from Callum's secrets are, 'will love win or death take over?' Are you planning to give an alternate ending to the story apart from the one you have originally planned for the book?

Nope, I will have one ending to this book and I will not have an epilogue. I can't reveal anything else.

Okay...interesting. So would you like to tell us a bit about your current works, now? Any future ideas we might see popping up on your profile in the near future?

A graphic shop and maybe a new book?

Could you tell us a little bit about your new book? Something you might have in mind?

Well the plot isn't fully developed but the book will come some time next year. I got the idea from two songs and i merged them together. I can't remember what they were called but I heard them playing and then I had a book idea. That's all I can tell you for now.

Ah! Interesting!

Okay, now is the time for a very very important question! How do you deal with a writer's block? I mean, they are so stubborn! Literal nightmares for every writer!

Well I listen to my favourite song at the moment on repeat and it usually sparks inspiration. My favourite song right now is 'Stupid' by Tate McRae.

That's pretty cool!

Well, it was such a joy getting to know you, Khadeja! Thanks for being such a good sport! Any parting words you would like to say to your fellow readers and supporters?

Whatever anyone says never stop doing the things you love.

Wise words. Haha!

How would you rate this interview?
