Hunching over Lanoir tried to catch her breath as she smiled to herself giving herself probs as she out ran a crazy person.

"That was too close." she said as she walked the rest of the way home, she was pretty close.

Her neighborhood was pretty upscale. She lived in a brick apartment house. All the houses on the block were uniform. The bricks were a faded red and the trim of the houses were in different shades of grey's.The only thing that was obviously different were there different colored doors.

Turning the corner she bumped into her neighbor Colin. Colin was a nice guy, but she found that he was a little overbearing and pushy. He tried flirting with her and asking her dates but she always rejected him.

"I saw you walking home. And I wonder why you were out so late," he asked while stepping into her personal space.

Laughing awkwardly she rubbed her hand against her neck and took a step backward.

"Oh, I was just heading home from a friends party. But I'm home now so no worries Colin." She replied.

Walking up to her stone steps she looked wanted to die as she remembered that her keys were in her clutch. The clutch that she had thrown at the mystery man.

"Did you misplace your Keys Lanoir? If you did you can come over to my place and stay the night." He said while peering over her shoulder. His breath had smelled of cheap alcohol.

Lanoir jumped at how close they were. Standing back as far as she could she turned around.

"Oh no, it's fine. I have a spare key around here somewhere" She said but knew she didn't have a spare. So she pretended to look for the spare.

"Just come to my place Lanoir. It's too late to be searching for a silly key," he said while grabbing her wrist and pulling her down the stairs. His fingers digging harshly into her skin. Pulling her wrist she tried to free herself from his grasp.

"Stop fussing Lanoir, you know you want to come over. Why are you being so difficult." he sneered while pulling her. Lanoir stumbled over her feet and almost fell over.

"Hey stop yanking me you're hurting my arm. You jerk." She yelled while shoving his shoulder. Being drunk Colin became angry and flew around his blue eyes were rimmed red as he lifted his hand to smack her. Squeezing her eyes closed she Braced herself for the impact. Lanoir felt the pressure on her wrist disappear opening her eyes she was surprised to see the mystery man from the alleyway. He stood between her and Colin.Colin's unconscious body was now on the ground.

"Uhh, thank you for helping me." she said while stepping back.

He didn't say anything. His gray eyes looked into her brown ones. He tilted his heads like he was trying to solve a problem. Looking down she saw that he was giving her, her silver clutch!

Reaching out she grabbed it and brought it to her chest. She didn't know why but she couldn't stop blushing. Maybe it was just in the heat of the moment and the alcohol running through her system. Lanoir didn't know what else to say. He didn't speak or acknowledge that he had heard her. He just continued to stare at her like she was the only person left. And then he took towering step over to her and lifted his hand. Lanoir was in too much shock to move away. Running his gloved hand over her cheek, his hand moving softly across her face like a gentle breeze. Closing her eyes she was unaware that she found herself leaning into the carries. His fingers made their way to her plump bottom lip and outlined the shape.

Just as fast as his hand graced her face it quickly disappeared. Opening her eyes she was met with nothing. He was gone, spinning around to see if he was near she didn't see him. Confused she shook her head and stepped up the steps to her house. Leaving an unconscious Colin on the ground. Entering her apartment she stepped out of her shoes and placed them by the door. Dropping her keys and bag she emptied them into the decorative blue bowls. Standing straight she gazed into the hallway circular mirror and couldn't see past her thoughts. Why hadn't he killed her or something?

Walking into her living room she went to close the curtains but stopped when she felt like someone was watching her. Looking across she couldn't make out anything but the shape of thick green trees. As she closed the curtains she couldn't help but think about those Steel gray eyes.
