Chapter two The Dream

I was standing in a grassy area. The trees were decorated with fruits and the ground was littered with flowers. I walked over to a stream. The water was as clear as diamonds. I took sips of it then walked over to the grassy area and sat down.

"This place is beautiful!" I thought. "Maybe I'm dead and I can stay here forever. Live in peace where there would be no wars." My thoughts turned to my father. Maybe he killed me. If he did, did he do it to protect me? No, I can't be dead. Then I remembered he sedated me. Maybe those two men killed me. I could've taken them. Oh well. I guess I better go find wood if I'm going to live here forever. Suddenly a figure approached.

"Hello, I'm Chuck." The figure said.

"What's your name?"

"Jackson," I replied.

"Well you must be hungry." Chuck said.

I only shrugged.

"Okay then, right this way."

We walked far from the grassy area. But soon we made it to a small cottage. The cottage was made of spruce logs and the roof was made of small vines tied to the logs. We entered the cottage. It seemed a lot better on the inside than the outside. There was a small table with two chairs made of logs and leather. The floor was covered in rugs made of yucca.

"Please sit down," Chuck said.

I sat down on one of the leather chairs.

"Where am I?" I asked. Chuck didn't respond.

"Where am I?" I repeated. Still, no response.

"I'll be right back." Chuck said. He left the room.

"That was weird I thought," He probably doesn't know either. Maybe he ended up here just like I did. I wonder if everyone who has ever died lives here.

My thoughts were interrupted when Chuck entered the room with a large pan of something I've never seen before.

"What is that?" I asked.

"It's called Pizza." He said.

"Take a piece." He said.

I reached for a piece but then thought about what father had said. Maybe this is someone from the other section? If I'm already dead then how could it matter? My curiosity took the better of me and I took a piece. I ate it. Maybe this is just a dream. I might as well enjoy it. It's better than being in pain. Wait if this is a dream maybe I can wake myself up. No, I won't wake myself up unless something bad happens. Chuck seems nice he wouldn't hurt me.

"Are you okay?" Chuck asks.

"Yeah I guess so," I reply.

I was there for about three hours. I wonder if I can survive outside at night. Yes, I probably can if I can remember the way to the grassy area.

"I better get going." I said.

"NO!" he said

"I mean no because we haven't had desert."

"Sorry, I'm going." I say.

Just then a wave of nausea hit me. I felt for the door then spotted it. I made a run for the door. I tried to wake myself up but I was to lost in the haziness of the drugs. My vision blurred but I kept running. He must've given me poison. I wanted to drop down and cry. Scream for someone to help me. But I didn't. Never in a million years would I let myself die crying because of some poison. If this is how I'm going to die so be it. I hear footsteps behind me. Must be Chuck. It was so dark but I kept running. I won't die now. It seemed like hours but I didn't stop. My eyes strained to see I wiped them but was only able to see a little better. I spotted the grassy area up ahead. I can still make it! My vision started to blur even more but I made it just in time. I fell to my knees. My eyes closed and I just sat there listening for any sound.

"There you are, Jackson." Chuck said

"Leave me alone!" I shout.

"No, I haven't killed you yet." He said.

"I'm not dying, if anyone is dying it will be you, Chuck." I said. Chuck's laughter echoed through the forest.

"I'm going to die? You can't even see." Chuck said.

"You don't need to see to fight." I said.

"Time to die, Jackson." He said. At that second I heard him charging me. My eyes flew open I dodged then swung my leg at his legs. He toppled to the ground. I jumped to my feet then fell on Chuck. I pulled my fist back then punched Chuck. He let out a yelp then he stopped moving. I must've knocked him out. I walked over to a tree and just stood there and watched the tree. I saw something carved into the tree it said: Jackson, you have to kill Chuck. There was a knife stuck in the tree. I grabbed it then walked over to Chuck. For a split second I looked at Chuck. Then I slit his throat and he died. My eyes flew open. My breaths were heavy and black ropes tied me on the bed. My leg no longer hurt. I heard footsteps and someone appeared beside my bed.

"Good job Jackson! I think you'll be perfect for the job." He said.

"Wait what?" was all I could get out.

"You'll see soon enough." He said. At that moment a metal hand appeared I felt a prick in my arm and I fell into a dreamless sleep.
