Chapter three The Palace

I awoke startled at the feeling of someone shaking me awake. It was the same tall man I had seen before the metal hand came. He had short black hair, dark brown skin, and glasses perched upon his nose. He suddenly stopped shaking me as he saw my eyes open. I looked at the man with an alarmed look on my face. He slowly let go of me. The first thing I noticed was that I was tied to the bed. My body struggled against the bounds but was soon stopped by the man.

"Where am I and aren't you gonna untie me?" I asked.

"You are in the king's palace and, yes, we will untie you, Jackson." The man said.

"Wait how do you know my name?" I asked with the slightest bit of anger in my voice. The man did not reply. Instead he untied the ropes that held me on the bed. I was about to jump out of the bed and run when two heavily armed men walked up to me.

"Don't try anything, Jackson." The man said.

A wave of panic and terror washed over me. I was trained to fight, I can take them I thought. But they have some kind of gun. I'll have to wait till the right second to escape. I yelped as they yanked my body off the bed. My leg throbbed as they dragged my body away from the bed. I waited for the time to run but it didn't come. After about five minutes I saw where they were taking me. The time came and I kicked one soldier's legs and he toppled to the ground. Then I yanked my wrist away from the other and ran. Two strange looking darts flew past me and electricity surrounded them. Dart guns. So that's what they are I thought. I sped up when two more darts flew past me. I was almost at the doorway to the city when twenty soldiers appeared in my path.

"Oh man, I can't take twenty." But then again, darts where flying past me. I dove for the ground just as all the darts flew past me. Ten darts found their marks in the soldiers. So it's twelve against one seems impossible. As long as I run I'll be okay. The darts stopped flying so I took this chance to run. I ran to the palace door, swung the door open and was about to run out the door when the soldiers grabbed my arms. There were five soldiers surrounding me and one holding me there. A soldier walked up, a syringe in his hand.

"No!" I screamed. But it was to late the syringe had already entered my skin. I was ready to black out but it didn't happen. I could still move very slowly. It seemed like the world was moving in slow motion.

My eyes strained to see but they wouldn't work. I couldn't do anything but let them take me to wherever they were going to take me. I heard a door open and the hands let go of me. My vision cleared but my body was still numb. I could hardly move. I heard a loud bang and a tray of food was dropped beside me. I inhaled all of it without stopping. Wow I must be hungry I thought. Two hands grabbed me again. This time I didn't struggle knowing I couldn't escape. I wonder if I'll be here forever I thought.

"Don't move and you won't get hurt." One guard said. I hope they don't inject that serum into me again I thought. Are they going to do this to me every day? A blow to the head sent me sprawling across the floor. A wail of agony came from my mouth. I struggled to get to my feet as another soldier landed in the spot where I was. The other was charging me. I jumped out of the way and he crashed into the wall.

What are they doing? Are they trying to kill me? An electric dart hit the wall right beside me. Adrenaline coursed through me. I screamed as a dart dug its way into my shoulders flesh. Blood sprayed from the wound. Electricity surrounded me. "What am I going to do?" I wonder. Maybe I'll bleed to death. I try to move but the electricity weighs me down I pull out the dart from my shoulder. I try to throw the dart out but it bounces off the electricity. Is this some sort of electric shield? Maybe, but why would they shoot me with an electric shield dart? My head hurt horribly and black spots appeared in my vision. They must've given me a concussion.

Just then someone hoisted the shield into the air. It was like I was part of the shield. They took me through series of hallways and I was soon taken to another door. There was a red carpet that lead to a throne. The throne was red with gold pieces decorating it. There was a short man sitting on the throne. He had short brown hair with white skin and he had a crown sitting on his head. It was the king. Panic flared up inside me. The king would run all kinds of tests on me if he knew I was an assassin. He would make me murder everyone he hated. I might even have to kill innocent children. No, I would never kill a child. He can hurt me all he wants but I'll never do what he wants. He must've seen the panicked look on my face. A menacing grin appeared on his face. Blood seeped through my wound. The pain was almost unbearable. I couldn't do anything but wait and see what happens. The king brought out a remote and pressed a red button. The electricity flickered and the shield snaked back into the kings remote. I fell to the ground and screeched from the pain in my shoulder. I have to act calm. But I can't! This is the king. He could kill me-or worse run tests on me.

"What do you want with me?" I asked. How would he even know I'm an assassin? My father would never tell the king. He even kept it a secret.

"Oh nothing, maybe a few tests." He snickered at the shocked look on my face.

    "No," I said.

    "No?"

    "I won't let you, I'd rather die."

"Well that could be arranged." He folded his hands together and gave an evil grin.

"Guards! Take this boy away." The king shouted.

"No! Don't do this to me! No!" I screamed. They dragged me away and slammed the door. They dragged me once again through the series of hallways. We approached a doorway they opened the door and threw me into the room. My shoulder exploded in pain I looked at the guards Tears now streaming down my face.

"Please. Don't do this to me!" I pleaded. The guards didn't even look at me. They slammed the door and darkness swallowed me whole.
