A Destroyed Ship

(1022 words)

Your POV

Sitting in the copilot seat of the Razor Crest we get close to my ship. Telling him to land on some rocks. He turns to me and I could feel the raised brow from behind his helmet.

"Where is it?"

Getting up I motion for the Mandalorian to follow. He gets up and we walk outside of the Razor Crest. Pushing a hidden button on my glove, the ship comes out of its camoflauge mode. Looking at him sees it show up, and it doesn't look like he moves.

"Are you not impressed?"

He gives a slight shrug. Shaking my head gently we get into the ship, and I pull up the database I had in the back.

"We just need a hair from the little guy and this thing should tell me what he is. That is if it knows."

He nods and goes to get him, who was now awake. Holding him in my lap I smile slightly behind the mask as I get everything ready. Taking a hair that was on his little robe, I put it into the analyzer. It runs for a moment before it shows a red screen and an alarm blares. Hearing a voice come out of the system as it screams.

"Initiating self destruct in T minus... 10....9..."

Looking at Mando for a moment, we both turn and get into the Razor Crest, that was luckily still running. Holding onto the child tightly, I get into the copilot seat as he takes off and moves away from the ship that was counting down. Watching it for what felt like eternity, it finally detonates. The ship I had come to love, spent so long fixing, and getting space worthy, exploded in front of me.

Standing up slowly, it was silent. Putting the child into the Mando's lap I got off the Razor Crest and started walking towards the ship that was now, in smithereens and partially on fire.

Mando's POV

Watching the assassin get off of my ship after handing me the child. I watch as she walks towards her now totaled ship. Sighing gently, I look down at the child I had in my hands.

"We're going to have to give her a ride off the planet now aren't we?"

He gives a small noise as I stand while holding him. Putting him back into the bassinet I have it follow as I follow her towards the ship. Getting within ear shot as she was saying every word in the book, I shake my head. Stopping once I was a few steps from her, I watch as she kicks a few things, throwing some others. Falling to her knees it was quiet, the slight sound of crackling fire and the wind as I walk over to her.

"I'll give you a ride off planet."

She shakes her head.

"I need a whole knew ship. A ride off planet would only get me stranded there. I need my ship to work, it was also my home."

Her voice was saddened and I understood why.

"My ship is also my home. My planet was destroyed from the Empire."

She nods as she stands, her mask tilting towards me as she looks up at me.

"Do you still need a crewmember. I know you haven't technically seen my abilities, but it's the only thing I can think of."

Looking at her for a moment, I turn back to her ship that was now putting itself out. nodding slightly I turn back towards the ship.

"Is that a yes?"

Waving my arm for her to follow, I hear her fast footsteps behind me as she catches up.

"I do have some rules to tell you when we get back on board."

I hear her agree and I climb board onto the ship, turning to see her looking at the ship she lost.

"Was there anything salvageable?"

"I don't think so. The explosion was next to the fuel tank, so it just made it bigger than I thought it would. I don't even think Kuiil could fix this."

Sighing slightly, I reach out to pat her shoulder, hesitating for a moment before putting my arm down. Heading to the cockpit with the child, waiting for her for a moment before I hear the cargo ramp close.

Your POV

I sit on a crate in the cargo hold as I put my head in my hands, closing my eyes as I think about the ship I just lost. I didn't technically steal it, I found it, fixed it, and it's been mine since. I haven't seen another one like it the entire time I've had one. Sighing gently I knew there was nothing I could do. Feeling something touch my leg, I look over to find the child. He makes his small noises at me as he looks up at me.

Picking him up I sigh gently, as his bassinet was a few feet from me. Holding him as he hugs into me, I sniff slightly. I can't be a burden to Mando so I would have to find something soon. Hearing him come down the latter to the cockpit, I look over at him slightly.

"We should get going before it gets too late."

"Didn't you want to tell me your rules first?"

He tilts his head for a moment. "Just don't touch my stuff, I don't take my helmet off in front of people ever. For jobs I can give you a couple thousand calamari flan for each job."

Nodding I sigh gently. "I don't take my mask off around anyone either. Usually when I do they don't live to see the next day. Easier to be an assassin that has no face, makes it harder to not have a bounty puck on me. As for the calamari flan goes, I don't have to pay for fuel so that would be fine."

He gives a slight nod before he comes to pick up the child, taking him to the cockpit. "You can stay down here if you want, I have another cot next to mine."
