Chapter 1 - Neighbors
Ella's pov
"Oh my god, are you kidding me Ross? I am going to kick your ass!" I shouted as my best friend in the entire world laughed at me.
Apparently throwing a pillow at my face was a funny idea. Jokes on him, I caught it right as the fabric brushed across my nose.
"What? I didn't do anything to y-"
Ding Dong!
I shook my head in amusement at my very stupid best friend who was so gonna get it later whilst getting up and walking to the door before opening it.
A man stood there, towering over me. Rich dark brown hair with eyes to match. His clothing was in all shades of black. In all honestly, I wondered why somebody would wear a black jacket in the middle of summer, but to each his own I guess.
"Erm, hello there. I just bought the house next to yours and thought I might introduce myself to my new neighbors. I'm Damien, Damien Blackwell"
"Hey Ella, who's at the door-woah, uhh, hi there." Ross said before looking at me knowingly...my boyfriend really hated me talking to strangers.
"Ah, so that's your name." He said whilst looking at me before he stuck out his hand to greet my best friend. "I'm Damien and I just bought the house next door."
Ross smiled and shook hands with the stranger. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Ross. Would you like to come inside? Have a drink?"
"Oh, no thank you. I still need to go meet the other neighbors." He said with a smile, never once taking his eyes off of me.
"You don't understand, the second you leave, she's gonna kill me!" Ross jokes, pretending to hide his face.
"Well to be fair, it's your fault for throwing a pillow at me!" I immediately retort, the stranger in front of me completely forgotten.
"You'd think she'd be okay with her best mate poking fun, but oh no, she's a fighter." Ross said in all seriousness. "Well, I'll let you go now, enjoy the rest of your day!"
Flushed in embarrassment, I saw Damien's eyes light up, amused at my little outburst. He smiled before taking a bow.
"I'll see you round." He said before turning around and walking off.
Damien's pov
Ding Dong!
There I stood, awaiting the door to be opened. I was assigned to this rather boring little town on a mission to find a rare item known as a blood ring. There were only 7 of them ever created and they belonged to the council of shadow and time. COST for short. All but two of the rings went missing about a century ago when a civil war broke out between the clans. Each taking one of the rings with them. The last known location of one of the rings was somewhere in this town.
The door opened and my heart skipped a beat. There in front of me was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen in my life. I shook my head for a second and got that thought out of my head, or at least I tried to.
"Erm, hello there. I just bought the house next to yours and thought I might introduce myself to my new neighbors. I'm Damien, Damien Blackwell"
"Hey Ella, who's at the door-woah, uhh, hi there." A boy asked and said whilst appearing into view, standing next to the exquisite girl.
"Ah, so that's your name." I said whilst looking at the beautiful girl before sticking out my hand to greet the boy. "I'm Damien and I just bought the house next door."
I didn't realize there was a boyfriend involved...well this just makes my life easier because falling for a girl in my line of work would simply be impossible.
The boy smiled as we shook hands. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Ross. Would you like to come inside? Have a drink?"
"Oh, no thank you. I still need to go meet the other neighbors." I said with a smile, never once taking my eyes off of the girl. Ella, yes, what a perfectly innocent name.
"You don't understand, the second you leave, she's gonna kill me!" Ross jokes, pretending to hide his face.
Kill him? But she looks so harmless.
"Well to be fair, it's your fault for throwing a pillow at me!" I immediately retort, the stranger in front of me completely forgotten.
Fuck... Her voice..
"You'd think she'd be okay with her best mate poking fun, but oh no, she's a fighter." Ross said in all seriousness. "Well, I'll let you go now, enjoy the rest of your day!"
Ah, so not a boyfriend. Just a friend. That's...not good actually, I can't fall for this girl. Remember the last time I fell for someone...it didn't end well.. I kept telling myself before smiling and taking a bow, amused at the girl.
"I'll see you round." I said before turning around and walking off.
Don't you dare fall for that girl, Damien.
Shut up, I already know.
But she freaking radiates purity and that has always been my weakness.
