CHAPTER NINETY: THE ONLY SOLUTION

Natasha, Zach, Lila and the siblings arrived at the Luther's place "Thank God. Hello" Lila smiled when she saw her family and Claire there.

"Hailey" Natasha and Zach rushed over to Hailey who was being held by Claire and she handed the baby to Natasha before she looked at her mom. 

"Mom!" Claire rushed over to Allison before hugging her while Lila hugged her family.

"I'm okay. Go with your cousins" Allison told her daughter.

"No. I'm not leaving you" Claire said "Claire, please" Allison said "Come on. Let's go" Luther said as her and Klaus help Allison into the living room "Claire? We'll take care of her" Lila told Claire "Just can you and the others just stay here, okay?" she asked "Just one second. One second" she said before walking into the living room with the others.

"All right, on the couch" Klaus said as him and Luther put Allison on the couch.

"How do we beat a thing that everything we throw at it, it gets...It's gets bigger and it gets stronger?" Zach asked.

"Well, we can't" Luther said "It's only a matter of time before it envelops everything" Natasha said "So the world's ending again, huh?" Klaus asked.

Then Five appeared in the living room "Hey! Great timing. Great timing" Klaus said as Five walked into the living room.

"Hey" Five said "Five" Natasha said "Five!" Klaus smiled and Five walked over to his girlfriend and son "You two okay?" he asked and they nodded.

Five looked down at his baby daughter as he strok his hand down her tiny forehead.

"So did you find a solution?" Natasha asked "I did" Five nodded before he turned to the others

"Fortunately, I had a, uh, long and eye-opening conversation with myself" Five said "What?" Klaus asked confused "I met a lot of version of me in a diner. And I had a talk to one of them" Five explain.

"And what happen there?" Zach asked "I found out a plan" Five said and they all looked at him.

"We are the reason that this is happening" he said "You care to elaborate?" Diego asked "The marigold that infected our mothers, bringing forth our births...had an unexpected side effect. It shattered the timeline, and it broke it into an infinite number of alternate timelines. The timelines are bleeding into each other. That's how the Keepers were able to find those artifacts" Five said.

"Holy shit. Gene and Jean were right" Zach said "Their dreams of other timelines were real" Natasha said "So we need to go back to the original timeline before any of the other ones were created" Five said.

"Am I the only one who's very, very, very confused?" Klaus asked while waving his hands "Nope" Luther said.

"That's what Ben was trying to show me" Viktor said and they all look at him "What does Ben have to do with this?" Luther asked "Back at the department store, when I was trying to pull the Durango from his body. I had a vision. I think he was trying to show me the original timeline" Viktor explain "He tried to kill you" Allison said "But he didn't. He pushed me away to save me. I think he was trying to tell me something. That the Cleanse isn't a bad thing" Viktor said.

Luther let out a scoff "So what you're saying that thing that destroys everything it comes into contact with is good?" he asked while Five realized what they had to do.

"I think so?..." Viktor said.

"We need to let the marigold in our bodies merge with the Durango inside the Cleanse" Five said and they all looked at him.

"They should cancel each other out" Lila said and Diego let out a chuckled "Okay. You okay. Then what happens to us?" he asked "We cease to exist" Natasha's eyes widened when Five said that as she realized what he meant.

Five, Lila, Luther, Viktor, Allison, Diego and Klaus were going to sacrifice themself in order to save the universe and restore the timeline.

No, no. Natasha don't want to lose Five, she don't want to lose him. He was the love of her life, her boyfriend, her partner in crime, the father to her kids. She was not going to lose him. She just got him back.

Klaus sputtering "Old Klaus might have been down for some recreational hara-kiri, but it turns out that I'm not really not into killing myself, so, uh, count me out" Klaus said "Yeah, Five, you can't mean that. Don't do it" Natasha said.

"Actually, it's not killing ourselves. It's worse than that. We'll be erased from history" Five said "Okay, what about the other timelines?" Diego asked "They will never existed. None of us will. No one will have any memory of this...or us" Five said and Natasha's eyes widened as everyone's face fell.

 Not only was Natasha going to lose Five, but she was never going to remember him. She can't let that happen, she rather die with Five, than live without remembering him. She don't want all her memories with him to disappeared, because the best memories she had was with him. 

No, she refuse.

"Does anyone else not like this plan?" Luther asked and Klaus raised his hand with Luther.

"The marigold that runs through our veins caused broken bits and pieces of the timeline, so it either humanity or ourself, so we have to cease to exist" Five said.

"If we cease to exist, what happens to our families? What will happen to Hailey and Zach?" Diego pointed at the little baby girl in Natasha's arms.

"I'm not sure" Five responded, but he hope that they would survive somehow. He rather have Natasha and Zach live and not remembering him than them die.

"Wait. No, I...I don't like where this is going, Five" Lila got up from the couch "Come on, Five. There has to be another way" Allison sat up from the couch.

"Yeah, come on Five. You can't mean that, there must be another plan, there must be something we can do, there is always something we can do" tears ran down from Natasha's yes.

"There isn't, this is the only way" Five said with a sad face as he wipe a tear away from Natasha's cheek.

They all stood in silence for a while. They didn't know what exactly to feel. In a way, it was almost calming to finally figure everything out. Put an end to all of the word-ends. Let humanity live like they should.

But why was it all Five's and his family's fault? What did they deserve to have the blame put on them? They didn't even choose to be born. They came from ilterale nowhere, were raised to not have brain of their own, obeying an egoistic billionaire who only wanted to bring his wife back to life at their expense. And all of that for nothing. All of them to die in the hands of what made them in the first place. It wasn't fair. it wasn't fair to Five's family, it wasn't fair to Five. It wasn't fair to Natasha.

Well, at least Natasha and Five got to live normally for those six years. They learned what family truly was. They made peace with the past. They proved themself that not every relationship was fucked up. Both Five and Natasha ever imagined themself with a partner or with kids but there they were. Five probably thought that entire time that he only had save them all from the apocalypse, but he saved Natasha from the hell she was trapped in too. The one she had trapped herself in for so long. And so did the rest of them.

Five had a great life. He was hoping he'd die from old age, sitting on a porch with the love of his life. Watching their kids playing in the yard.

But that didn't seem to be the destiny in store for him.

Natasha felt Five's hand squeezing hers and she looked up at him. His green eyes shined like they always did. Such a beautiful color, really. 

"Take it easy, all right?" Klaus put a hand on Allison's shoulder "Lila, why don't you take Natasha, Hailey and Zach and the family to that crazy subway of yours" Diego looked at Lila "You save them...Save yourself" he said.

"Come with us Five" Natasha looked at Five who looked at her.

"No, we can't do that" Five said and everyone looked at him "Five, go with Natasha and Zach. Hailey is too young to lose her dad, your family needs you" Diego said.

 "Hey, all the marigold needs to be destroyed, Diego. If Lila and I isn't here when the Cleanse comes, it just restarts" Five said "Yeah, well, good thing it's her decision, isn't it?" Diego asked "Yeah" Five nodded before he looked at Lila.

"So all the marigold have go?" Zach asked "All of it" Five said "Then we all know that I have to go down with you guys too" everyone look at Zach "Because of Ben, I drank the marigold too, which mean it is in me too, so I have to go down with you guys" Zach said "No" Natasha shook her head "You can't" she said "We both know that I have to, mom" Zach said before he looked at his dad "Right. I have to go down with you guys too?" Zach asked and Five nodded "I'm afraid so" he said.

"No, no, no" Natasha shook her head as she had tears in her eyes "There must be another solution" she sob "There isn't" Five shook his head "This is the only solution" he said.   

"I'm staying with my mom" Claire said as she enter the living room.

"Claire Bear" Klaus said as Claire walked over to her mom "No" Allison said "Mom, I'm staying" Claire crouched down in front of her mom "No" Allison put her daughter's face in her hands "You have to go with Five, Zach, Natasha and Lila, okay?" she said "No. I'd rather die here with you than not remember you" Claire said.

"No. Claire. I need you to live...okay? I need you to live and experience all of the amazing things that this world has to offer you, okay?" Allison said "I'll forget you, mom" Claire sob "No. We don't know that. Okay? We don't know that. What I do know is you have to go with Natasha, Zach, Lila and Five" Allison said "No, I can't" Claire sob.

"Hey, listen to Mom, Claire Bear. Every time I do, things turn out okay" Klaus said and Claire looked at him.

"Hey, look at me. Look at me" Allison said and Claire looked back at her mom "I will always be a part of you. Always. Even if you don't remember me. You'll always be my beautiful, smart girl" Allison said and Claire nodded "Okay?" Allison said before the two hugged.

As Klaus and Claire were saying goodbye, Diego were saying goodbye to his kids. He wanted to go with them, but he know that four people with marigold surviving would be too much.

"Daddy and mommy love you three so much" Diego said as he was hugging them.

The Klaus and Claire pulled away and Claire looked at Klaus "Come here" he said with a shakily voice "love you" he hugged her "Love you too" she said as she was weeping.

"Okay" the two pulled away "You have to go" Allison said "No. No." Claire said "Baby, you have to go" Allison said.

"Let's go. Get the family together, okay?" Lila said and Claire ran over to the family.

"I'm not going without you guys" Natasha said and Zach and Five walked over to Natasha who was standing with Claire and the others.

"Lila, Zach, Five, wait. Look, I don't wanna sound like an asshole here, but if you Five is right, you three leaving is not a good thing" Luther said.

"He's right. You can't go" Viktor said and Lila looked at Diego who nodded while Allison was sobbing stifled.

"Watch me" Lila said "Lila!" Luther said "Okay. Come on everyone" Lila walked over to the family "Stand around us, okay?" Lila said.

"Lila, Five don't do this" Luther said "Hold onto me" Lila said "Zach and I will be coming back, we're just saying goodbye" Five said before the three blink away with Natasha, Claire and Lila's family.

"All right, come on!" Lila said as her, Five, you and the others were in the subway.

"Hey, you can wait here! Yeah" Lila lifted Grace up on a bench "All right! Sweetheart. Okay?" Lila smiled.

"Where are we going?" one of Lila's family member asked in Punjabi "I'll tell you when we get there" Lila explain first in Punjabi and then in English.

"Where are we going?" Claire asked "Somewhere safe, angel, okay?" Lila smiled.

Five and Zach knew what would happen if not all the marigold inside them is destroyed. A part of them wanted to stay with Natasha but they knew that they had to sacrifice their own life together with the others to save the world. If there was another solution, Five would take it but there isn't. He have to protect Natasha and their little baby daughter, if he could he would have wanted Zach to go with them too, but since he also had gotten the marigold inside him, he had to stay.  

Zach looked at Lila "Can we talk for a sec" he said and she nodded as him, Five and Lila walked a bit away from the others.

"I know that look" she said. 

"Lila, please" Zach said "I can't leave them here. What if they don't make it?" she asked "Then they don't make it" Five said.

"Think about Natasha you two. And Hailey, think about her" she said "We're thinking about them" Five said.

Then the sound of the train approaching was heard and they saw the train arrived. 

"If we go with them, then this whole thing starts over. It doesn't end until all the marigold inside us is gone" Zach said "You don't know that" she said "Yeah, we do" Five nodded "You do too" Zach said.

"We have to let them go, no matter how painful it is" Five said.

"Lila, the train is here! What should we do?" Lila's mother called out in Punjabi.

"I'm sorry" Lila said before she walked over to her family "Okay, come on. Come on, everyone. What are you waiting for?" they all walked into the train.

Five and Zach walked over to say goodbye to Natasha.

"I'm staying with you two" Natasha "No Love, I want you to---" "No. I'm staying with you, if you are not going with us, then I'm staying with you, and you can't make me go, we're in this together. I'm not leaving you" Natasha said "You have to, mom" Zach said.

"Love please. The train has already arrived . You need to leave this place with the others. This is the correct timeline without the apocalypse and all that. It's safe there. Trust me" Five said "I won't go without you, let's got together" Natasha said "Darling, you know that I can't do that. Marigold must be destroyed completely without exception, and if Zach didn't had the marigold, he would go with you, but unfortunately he has" Five said "I just can't forget about you two...I can't..." Natasha sob."You have to" Five put her face in his hands.

"Go with the others and live your life. Your safety and happiness is all I could want...Do this for us...please..." Five said "Please mom, do this for us" Zach said with tears in his eyes 

"No, I'm not leaving without you two, without my boys" Natasha said "Please, I don't want you to die because of me. Please live for us" Five said "I'm not going without you, what about Hailey. I want Hailey to know her daddy and big brother" Natasha said "You will raise her well. I know you will, beside you will never be alone, a part of us will always be with you. You will have a part of us with you always" Five said.

"Maybe things we will okay, again, maybe not all the marigold have to be destroyed for the timeline to be restore" she  said and Five looked at her.

Natasha was not ready to say goodbye to her son and boyfriend. She refuse even so she knew it was the only solution.   

"You know that is not possible" Five said as tears was in their eyes.

"Think about Hailey, she have to have at least one parent with her, she is too young to be left as an orphan" tears was in their eyes.

"I'm going to miss you" Natasha cried "We're going to miss you too" Zach and Five sob.

"My beautiful boy" Natasha stroke her right hand down Zach's cheek "I'm so proud of you, I would have hope that your life would have being longer" she cried "I love you mom, and I'm proud of being your son" he said "I love you too" Natasha lay a kiss on his forehead before hugging him as they were both crying.

The two then pulled away and Zach looked down at his baby sister that was in Natasha's arms "I'm going to miss you sis, be nice to mommy okay. I have hope to have more time with you, but I will always be with you even so you are too young to remember me. But..." Zach took off his beanie before putting it on Hailey's tiny head.

"When I got this, my parents once told me that I was going to beat this world, but I failed, so it is now your job. This is yours now, so take care of it" he lay a kiss on his sister's forehead. "I love you" he said and Hailey said a small baby sound before grabbing one of Zach's fingers "I'm going to miss you too sis" he smiled. 

Five then looked at Hailey who put her hand on his cheek "I'm going to miss you too, you might not remember me but I love you so much, and I have wish that I would have watch you grow up, but I can't, but I will always be with you" he kissed her tiny hand.

"Take care of your mommy for me, okay. I know you grow up to be a strong, smart and beautiful woman. Thank you for choosing me to be your dad" he said before he looked at his girlfriend "If you can remember us, tell her story about us" Five said "I will" she nodded while sobbing. 

"My boys" Natasha sob as the three hugged while they were crying.

Think I'll miss you forever
Like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky

They pulled away and Natasha and Five rested their foreheads against each other.

"I love you so much" Five said "I love you too, so much" she said before they kissed.

Kiss me hard before you go
Summertime sadness
I just wanted you to know
That, baby, you the best

Zach was holding Hailey while Five and Natasha was kissing goodbye.

The two pulled away to look at each other "If we somehow in some miracle way survive, or end in another body, we promise we will find you again" Five said and Natasha nodded as they had their foreheads rested against each other.

"No matter what, Five" Natasha quietly said "You'll always be with me, both you and Zach. In every moment, in every decision, I'll carry you two with me" she said and he smiled.

"Thank you for bringing me so much love, light and happiness into my life, giving me the joy of being a dad" he said "Thank you for giving me the joy of being a mom and giving me a family" she said and he lay a kiss on her forehead.

Then Zach handed Hailey to his mom and Natasha turned around before stepping into the train.

She turned her head with tears in her eyes as she was looking at her boyfriend and son who also had tears in his eyes.

"May we meet again" they mumbled.

Just as the door to the train was about to close Lila walked out of the train just as the door closed.

"MOM!" Grace said "No, Lila!" Lila's family was clamoring. "Mommy!" Grace said.

Lila then bend down so she was in eye level with her daughter "It's okay, love" Lila smiled as her and Grace put a hand on the window while tears was in Lila's eyes.

"I'll see you soon, okay?" she smiled.

The train then started moving and Lila started running next to the train.

"Lila!" the family cried out "Make sure you read to Gracie every night, okay?" Lila said "Mommy! Grace cried "And don't let the twins fight!" Lila said as she kept running next to the train before she stop running when her path stop and the train drove into a tunnel.

 While tears was falling from Lila's eyes, she fell down on her knees while crying.

"It's gonna be okay. It's gonna be okay" Lila sob as her, Zach and Five watch the train drove into the tunnel and out of their sight.

Zach walked over to Lila before he crouched down and hugged her. 

"I hate you for this" Lila whispered as she cried "I know" Five said as Zach was comforting her "I hate you. I hate you for this" she cried.

Luther, Allison, Klaus, Viktor and Diego was in the Academy's living room. "So, uh...now what?" Luther asked "Guess we just wait" Viktor said "I'm sorry, guys. If I'd have know we were gonna die here, I would have cleaned up" Luther said "Well, at least your laundry's clean. I mean..." Klaus said "Actually, it's not" Luther said.

Then they heard monstrous baying in the distance which caused them to look towards a window that had something that covered it up.

Klaus got up before walking towards the window and he remove the stuff from it to look out and the sound of shrill shrieking was heard as they saw the monster not far away, coming towards them.

"It looks angry" Klaus said "What gives you that impression?" Viktor asked and Klaus let out a chuckled dryly.

Then Five, Zach and Lila blink into the living room which cause the others to look at them.

Lila looked at Diego who got up "The kids?" he asked "Yeah, they're safe" she said before looking at Allison who got up "And Claire" she said.

"Where is Natasha and Hailey?" Luther asked "They are with Claire and the others, so they are safe" Five replied "Think they're gonna be okay?" Allison asked "Yeah" Five nodded "My family will take are of them. She's never be alone" Lila said "Natasha will help looking after Claire, so she's will never be alone" Five said.

"So..." Luther got up "We gonna do this thing?" he asked.

None of them wanted or was ready to die, but they all knew that it was the only way so they all nodded.

Then the sound of thunderous stride crashing was heard and they could heard the roar from the creature have gotten bigger so it was right outside.

"All right. Moving!" Klaus said "Come on. Let's go" Luther said "Quickly" Klaus said as they all walked into the entrance of the Academy while the sound of guttural bellowing was heard and some tentacles crash the windows and they came into the living room.

"Oh God. I loved those windows" Klaus said as they all stood in a circle.

"All right" Luther said "Doesn't matter anymore" Klaus said.

"Well, maybe we should go around the circle and, you know, share our favorite moments together" Luther suggested.

"What?" Allison asked "Barf" Klaus said "Let's not do that" Five said "It's a really bad idea" Lila said "Yeah, it's terrible" Diego said "That's a terrible idea" Zach said "Yeah, bad call" Luther nodded.

"Okay, so...what do we do?" Diego asked "Just power up, I guess" Five suggested and Viktor looked at Allison "You feel strong enough for this?" he asked "Yeah" she nodded "I think so" she said.

The sound of keen, clear resonance was heard as their chest started glowing orange.

Klaus shudders as their chests glow more brighter orange.

"Uhg, I'm feeling..." Klaus said as they were all powering up.

"Okay. Now what?" Diego asked "Now we wait" Five said.

The sound of booming stride in distance was heard and the sound of distorted explosion echoing was heard as the tentacles from the creature came through the windows and towards the Five, Zach and the others.

Another tentacles came through the door and everyone knew this was it.

"I'm sorry you left Canada for this" Allison said as she looked at Viktor and he looked at her "I'm not. This is where I'm supposed to be...with my family" he said as he put his right hand on her shoulder.

"You were right" Diego said and Lila looked at him "Don't" she shook her head "I see you" he said and she looked at him "I finally see you" he said and tears appeared in her eyes "I'm sorry for being a shitty wife" she said "I'm sorry for being a shitty husband" he said and she reach out her left hand for him to take it which he did.

Zach glanced at Lila and Diego as the sound of hoarse growling was heard as the thick fire color liquid slime stuff from the Durango started falling down from the room as the sound of fleshy oozing was heard as the creature was right above the roof.

The liquid slime stuff started running down from the roof, down the stairs and towards Five, Zach and the others.

Klaus looked behind from over his shoulder to see the liquid slime stuff coming closer to them before touching them and they flinch as the liquid slime stuff touch their feet.

"Uh...." Luther said while Klaus let out a yelping as the thick liquid slime started to run up from their legs, slowly merge with them and absorb them.

"...Five?" Luther asked.

"Don't fight it" Zach said "Let it take you. Just let it go" Five said.

"Whoo! It stings" Klaus said "Yeah. I know. Right, buddy?" Luther smiled before he pur his right hand on Klaus shoulder while Klaus put his left hand on Luther's shoulder "Hold on, okay? It's almost over" Luther said as they were slowly being merge with the Durango.

For the first time in his life, Five was scared. He was of dying, scared that his son was going to die too, scared of leaving Natashaall alone. But he know that she will never be alone, him and Zach will always be with her and Hailey.

Zach looked at Lila who looked at him as tears was in her eyes. She reach out her right hand for him to grab it which he did.

Zach looked to the right to look at his dad who was looking at him "I'm proud of you buddy, I'm sorry that I failed you. And I'm sorry I sometimes was too hard on you, it was only because I knew you had the potential to be better than I ever was" Five said "You didn't failed me dad, not everyone can control everything. You are the best dad anyone could ever ask for. I'm proud of being your son, and I love you" Zach said "I love you too. Thank you for choosing me to be your dad" Five reach out his left hand for his son to grab it which he did as the liquid slime kept going up their legs, slowly merge and absorb them.

"AH!" they all wincing as it hurt on them.

Lila then started chuckling "Thank you for letting me be in your weird family" she said and the others chuckled.

"Oh God, I'm gonna miss you guys" Luther said "I'm just glad we're all together in the end" Viktor said "No more legs and eggs, eh?" Diego said and the others chuckled.

"Thank you Five, for everything you have done" Klaus said "Yeah, we really appreciate it" Viktor said "Sorry for being so sefless to see everything you have done for us" Luther said.

"Thank you Five, you're a good brother" the siblings all said which caused Five to smile.

"Maybe we'll see each other again" Allison said as the liquid slime stuff reach their chests "That would be nice" Five said "I don't mind that" Zach said as him and Five looked up while liquid slime stuff reach their necks.

Five then looked at his right wrist to see the liquid slime slowly cover that wrist watch Natasha once gave for him. "I love you" he smiled.

"You know, I just wanna say, I love you guys...but you are all assholes" Klaus said and the others chuckled.

"Fuck you" Lila said and Klaus chuckled.

They all closed their eyes as Five and Zach thought back to all the lovely memories they had with Natasha as the liquid slime stuff absorb them all. Forming eight pedal flower before being fully consumed.

As they were absorb it was like all the timeline faded away before the right one got restore again.

Few months later.

Natasha walked into a bedroom as she was holding little Hailey who was now five months old.

"There you go" Natasha put down a sleeping Hailey down in her crib "Sleep tight sweetheart" Natasha lay a kiss on Hailey's forehead.

As she walked out of the bedroom, the sound of the doorbell ran so she walked down the stairs and over to the front door.

When she opened the door she froze as her eyes widened when she saw who it was.       

"Hello Love" Five smiled "Hey mom" Zach said "Told we wound find you" Five said.

Tears fell from Natasha's eyes before she wrapped her arms around her boyfriend and son, giving them a big hug.

"How?" she asked "I don't know, both Zach and I just woke up in an abandoned building with Lila and my siblings. No powers" Five said "We don't know how, but it seems like the universe gave us another chance or something" Zach said. 

"I think that was it, the marigold is gone, we don't have our powers, but we are still alive, the marigold just needed to be gone, which it is. I think the powers was it, the marigold needed to be gone, since we can survive and still be alive without the marigold in us, it only gave us our powers. but since the marigold is gone, so is our powers. We don't have our powers, but we are still alive, the marigold just needed to be gone, which it is" Five said.

"So everyone came back?" Natasha asked "Yeah, Sloane actually came back. Allison went back to Claire, and Diego and Lila went back to their kids. So everything is back to normal" Five said. 

"Well, not all normal. I still have my powers, my old powers, I don't know, maybe it is the way I got my old powers in the first place" Zach said "So what is your plan?" Natasha asked "Well, since the subway is gone, and there is only one timeline. I think I will create the Commission" the couple looked at their son.

"But I will make it better and different, we will still control time, but we will make sure that everything is normal and no end of the world will come, but less killing" Zach said "Are you sure?" Natasha asked "It's what I want" Zach said "Well, it's your choice my boy. I know it will be better with you as the leader" Five said before he looked at back at his girlfriend.

 "The most important thing is. It's over. No more broken or other timelines, no more end of the world, no more apocalypses" Five said "And I will make sure it stay like that, I will make sure that the world stays quiet, normal and peacefully" Zach said.

"So it's over?" she asked "It's over mom, we won" Zach said "We can be a family now, a normal and happy family" Five said and Natasha smiled before hugging them again.

"My boys. I loved you so much" she said "We love you too mom" Zach said "I love you so much too Darling" Five said.
