CHAPTER FIFTY: FAMILY TIME

After Natasha, Five and Zach had circled the different places the three wanted to see along the road trip, them and Klaus walked out of the hotel before going towards one of the hotel's cars before driving down the road.

The song 'Oogum Boogum by Brenton Wood' was playing in the radio as Natasha and Zach was sitting in the car's back seat while Five was sitting next to Klaus who was driving the car down a long and empty road that was between two long fields of grass.

Luna was sitting in the middle of the backseat in a child chair, playing with her stuff penguin while Natasha was sitting on her left side and Zach was sitting on the right side with his headphones on as he was looking out the window.

Klaus slurped his drink loudly before he put the cup down.

"This actually isn't so terrible" Five said "See? Told you" Klaus said.

"Come to think of it, my whole life I've been under the gun. Missions for Dad, working for the Commission, trying to survive the apocalypse, surviving multipel murder attempts" he joke the last part as he took a quick glanced at Natasha who was sitting on the backseat and she smiled before she grabbed his hand.

"I was always looking around every corner, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's nice to just breathe" Five said "Good for you, man. Retirement is suiting you" Klaus said as he nodded along to the music that played over the radio.

"And the best part is that I have the people I love the most by my side. The love of my life" Five said as he looked at Natasha who smiled at him

"A handsome son" Five said as he looked at Zach who sent him a smile "And a beautiful daughter" Five said as he looked at Luna who was playing with her stuff penguin.

"Oh. Uh...All right?" Five said before he looked at Natasha "Can you pass the map Love" he said and she gave him the map "Thanks" he said.

"So, Nat, Zach and I have circled all the roadside attractions alone the way" Five said as he unfolded out the map of Pennsylvania "I'm not sure we're gonna have time..." Klaus mumbled "We have the Brownsville Big Nickel which we actually want to see" Five said as he looked at the map "Then there is the ball of Twine, that we all three want to see" Five said

"Oh, Ricky's Bakery has award-winning pies--" Natasha said as she was also looking at the map "If you just let me explain..." Klaus said "Or there's this Cow Henge" Five said before he glanced at Klaus "That's it--Don't---" he said with a smile.

"Listen to me" Klaus said out loud causing Five to look at him "Just shut up for two seconds, okay? Just two seconds? All right?" Klaus said "Okay" Five said before he folded the map back up "I'm all ears" he said as he turned to look at him.

"We are going to Pennsylvania to find my birth mother. Yay!" Klaus said and cheered "Excuse me?" Natasha and Five asked "What did he just say?" Zach asked as he took off his headphone.

"You gotta me kidding me" Natasha said.

"I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry. I just need somebody to come with me for emotional support" Klaus said "Oh, emotional support, like a Schnauzer?" Five questioned annoyed "I knew that you wouldn't come if I told you, so what was I supposed to do?" Klaus asked.

"You're goddamn right. I wouldn't have come, Klaus. You know why? Because I am supposed to be retired!" he said out loud "I know!" Klaus said "This was supposed to be a carefree road trip with my girlfriend and kids. I missed one year of my daughter's life and I want to spend every second with my girlfriend and kids so we can actually try to live a normal life. So therefore this was supposed to be a carefree road trip" Five said.

"Well, it still can be, babe" Klaus said "If you two keep arguing, I will take the wheel and kick you both out of the car, then you can walk unless I run you both over" Natasha said, annoying.

Five looked back onto the road before his eyes then landed on a road sign.

'Ball of Twine'

"Ball of Twine? Klaus, turn!" Five said before he grabbed the wheel "Ball of Twine! Turn" he said as he turned the wheel causing the car to turn "What? Five! Five!" Klaus said before he also grabbed the wheel "It is one of the best ones! Come on!" Five said out loud and turned the wheel causing the car to turn sharp.

'Cause both of them was turning the wheel each way, the car began to veer to the left and right, avoiding the cars going by "Five, we're gonna die! Whoo!" Klaus shouted as he had his hands on the wheel "I don't care! Let's go!" Five shouted as the two was having their hands on the wheel which cause Luna to start whining and Zach and Natasha put their hands in front of her, holding her, so she wouldn't fall.

"Guys, toddler on the backseat" Natasha said but the two kept struggling to turn or not.

"Let go" Klaus said.

"BOYS, STOP ACTING LIKE CHILDREN. WE'RE GONNA CRASH!" Natasha shouted.

"YOU KNOW WHAT? NO TWINE, NO BIRTH MOTHER!" Five shouted.

Klaus stopped the car at the Ball of Twine and the four stepped out of the car.

While Zach took Luna out of the car Natasha gave Five a slap at the back of his head "Ouch" he said "Idiot" she said as he rubbed his head.

"Are you completely insane, we could have crash. You are lucky we didn't" Natasha scolded "Sorry Darling" Five said "You might be in your younger body, but you are still an adult. So act like it" Natasha said "Sorry" Five said as he rubbed his head.

Zach who was holding Luna then walked over to them "Hey Cupcake" Five said as he grabbed Luna "Sorry, daddy have a temper" he said before him, Natasha and Zach walked closer to the Ball of Twine.

"Yeah, you know. I don't know why, but I thought it'd be a lot bigger" Klaus said from behind the three as they looked up at the large Ball Of Twine.

"Seems pretty big to me" Five said as he was holding Luna while Zach had tucked his hands into his pockets as the three kept their eyes on the ball "Or maybe you are just small" Natasha said as she looked at Five "Says you" he said "Touché. But I can still kick your ass" she said "I don't doubt that, you are a better fighter than me" he said.

"Look Luna" Zach said as he pointed up at the ball of twine "Ball of twine" he said "It's the big ball of twine" Five said "A giant ball" Natasha said.

"Ball" Luna suddenly said which 'cause the four to look at her "Luna, did you just say 'ball'?" Five asked as he was looking at Luna who he was holding in his arms "Ba" Luna said and the three smiled "Oh my God Luna that was your first words" Natasha said "Your very first words" Zach said "My little buttercup said her first words" Five said with a smile as he was beyond happy to be there to hear his daughter say her first words.

"Ball" Luna said as she was holding her stuff penguin

"That is so sweet" Klaus said as Five gave Luna to Natasha.

"Here's the real question. How do you know your birth mother is in Pennsylvania?" Five asked before he turned to look at Klaus.

"Well" Klaus said as he took off his sunglasses "Because I was on the ass end of a two-week bender, and I can't tell you the exact date because we were boofing Xanax and the whole business, but Amy Winehouse was at the top of the charts" Klaus said as he walked up to Five.

"So that puts us somewhere, where? In the mid to late aughts? I helped myself into Dad's office, looking for the key to his safe cause he had Pogo lock up all the stealables. But instead, I found a treasure trove of our family history told in expired check stubs. I was too messed up to, uh, do anything about it, too scared to look her up. But always in the back of my mind, I wondered why she sold me off for three grand. I mean, come on, she couldn't have held out for five? Six?" he said.

Natasha know about Reginald buying Five and his siblings when they were babies just for his own good and how he raise them have always brought her to tears.

She is an emotional person and that sometimes took over her, especially since she became a mother. Her emotions were strong, sometimes they were her greatest gift and something her greatest nightmares.

"You see anything about my mother?" Five asked and Klaus shook his head "No. Sorry" he said.

Five had to admit, Klaus was not the only one that wanted to know where he is from. Five wouldn't mind to know who his real mother was and where he was from. He feels like he need to know, especially now when he is a parent himself.

"Why now?" Five asked "Well, duh. Dad disowns us. Grace isn't Grace. Ben's...gone. Now just felt like a good a time as any to find out who I could've been if I didn't grow up in this stupid family" Klaus said.

"Well, can you really call what we had a family?" Five asked "No. It's more like a--" "Institute for Snarky Delinquents" Five said as he finished Klaus' sentence and Klaus let out a smile and a laugh "And not a good one at that" Five said before he looked up and let out a smile.

"But what is family? What is it?" Klaus asked and the two looked at him "It's like some kind of giant...ball of twine that can never be untangled" he said "A giant ball of obligation I've been pushing uphill my entire life" Five said as he looked back up at the ball of twine.

"And the older you get, the bigger it gets. And the more you try an untangle it..." "You watch it roll down the hill..." Five added to Klaus' sentence as he cut him off.

"And what's the point?" the two brothers said at the same time before they turned to each other.

Since Natasha had lost her parents, she was unable to discuss anything about the meaning of family.

But Five became her family and now they have made a family of their own together and his family have taking Natasha, Zach and now Luna in kindly, and accepted the three as one of them.

Klaus then looked at Five "Hey, I'm glad you came along. You're a good brother" Klaus said.

Five blinked a few times with his eyes like he was shocked by that sentence.

He was not used to compliments therefore he didn't know what to say or how to react since this was the first time he have heard someone that wasn't Natasha or Zach to say a compliments to him.

He have done so much for his family. Saving them from the apocalypse, twice. Using his powers to rewind time, to bring them back to life. Putting his own life at risk to save them, risking everything in order for them to survive and no one in his family had being grateful or addressed words like that to him, they have all blamed him for the things that haven happen, except Klaus.

Five and Klaus were both very concerned for each other but won't admit it.

Natasha smiled as she could see that those words impact on her husband's heart and mind.

"I told you that there would be someone that would say that to you" she said as she looked at Five.

"All right, all right. You say nice things about me now" Klaus said and pointed at him as he noticed his brother's reaction.

But Five just turned around before he patted his brother's shoulder "Let's go find your stupid mother" he said before he started walking towards the car.

Klaus smiled as he turned around "Love you too, tiny dancer!" he said as he ran after him with a smile.

"I'm driving" Natasha said as she gave Luna to Five "Why?" Klaus asked "'Cause I don't want more argue between you boys, so unless you want to argue with me, I'm driving" Natasha said as she took the keys out of Klaus' hands.

"Do you boys have a problem with that?" she asked and the two shook their head. They didn't want to argue with her since they know about her temper.

"Okay, but then I will take the backseat so I can sit with Luna" Five said "I will take the front seat next to mom" Zach said "Okay, let's go" Natasha said.

The rest of the trip towards the place were silence since the boys didn't wanted to argue with Natasha cause they knew about her temper.

She stopped the car where Klaus knew his mother was.

The four got out of the car as they saw some Amish people run passed the car.

"Son of a bitch! Klaus is Amish!" Five said while he hold his Luna in his right hand as he shut the passenger door with his left hand while Natasha shut her door as the Klaus walked out with Five.

"This explains everything" Klaus said as he walked around the car while you heard cows mooing.

"How does this explain anything?" Five asked "Because look! Look at this place!" Klaus said as he walked up ahead of the family while Five grabbed his hat with his free hand and put it on.

"This is everything my childhood was missing" Klaus said as he started walking forward while Five gave Luna to Zach.

"Hey, uh, Klaus?" Five called out as he chased after him "Yeah" Klaus said as he stopped "Wait up a minute" Natasha said as the couple ran up to him.

"Doppelgänger check" Natasha said "You feel anything strange?" Five asked as he grabbed his hand "Uh, itching, sweats, gas, anything like that?" he asked and Klaus shook his head "No. No, I feel great" he said and Five let go of his hand "Apart from the old rash on the tackle, but what can you do?" Klaus said before he walked passed Natasha and Five, expecting them to follow him.

"All right, good luck" Five said and Klaus stopped in his tracks before he turned around to look at them "What? Wait, you're not coming?" he asked and the couple shook their head It's best you do this alone" Natasha said "Yeah, Natasha and I want to spend some time alone with our kids, so we will be at the field with the cows, therefore you have to do this alone" Five said.

"Alone?" Klaus said in tone like he was not happy about that "You got this, Klaus, you can do it" Natasha said.

"Yeah, okay. Yeah, I can do that, sure" Klaus said before he walked towards the barn "Good luck Klaus" Natasha said "Good luck Klaus" Zach said as he walked up next to his parents.

"So what now?" Natasha asked as Five took Luna into his arms again "Let's have some family time" he said as he was looking at Luna in his arms.

"Ba" Luna said as she lifted her arms to grabbed her dad's hat and she pulled a little bit to it, making it slid down so Five's eyes were covered causing Zach and Natasha to chuckled.

"You want to try daddy's hat" Five said before he used his free hand and took off the hat, putting it on Luna.

The hat was way to big for her tiny head so it immediately slid down, covering half her face.

But instead of crying, Luna started giggling. "Ba" she said which cause the three to smile.

Five parked the car next to a large field filled with cows. He turned the radio up and he took off his vest before the three stepped out of the car.

Five grabbed Luna before walking over to the cows while Natasha got the things sat up.

"Look Sweetpea, a cow. Can you say cow" Five said as he petted the cow "Ba" Luna said as she stretched her arm towards the cow before laying her hand on its forehead.

Luna let out a giggled as she had her tiny hand on the cow's huge forehead "That's a cow" Five said.

Natasha grabbed a blanket before laying it on the grass.

"Hey guys, look" Five said which cause Zach and Natasha to turned around to see Five holding Luna's tiny hands as she was trying to walk.

Five was behind Luna as he was holding her tiny hands while she was walking by herself.

Both Zach and Natasha smiled as they saw Five supporting Luna in walking while she was giggling.

"Our little girl is walking...Almost" Five said as he support Luna while she by herself used her feet to walk forward.

Five then picked Luna up again "I don't think it would be long until she take her very first steps by herself" Natasha said "She is growing up" Five said.

"Let's sit down" Natasha said and the three sat down on the blanket before they started eating the food they have brought, having a nice family picnic.

Five picked up a strawberries before feeding Luna with it .

"Mom, dad" Zach said and the couple looked at him "I was thinking, why are you two not in on Viktor's plan?" he asked "'Cause traveling in time is dangerous" Five said "Your dad is right, this is the first time something hasn't gone wrong" Natasha said "I'm not saying we should travel back, I agree with you two about that. I know how time traveled work. It's just, we know that those briefcase are powerful and it's dangerous if they land in the wrong hands, what if the Sparrow used it and they to something wrong 'cause they have no idea what they are doing and they can cause something more dangerous than an apocalypse" Zach said.

"What could be more dangerous than an apocalypse and The Commission wants us dead?" Five asked "The Grandfather paradox" Zach said "The Kugelblitz" Natasha said which cause Five to glance between his girlfriend and son "Okay, I see. Maybe it will be good we get that briefcase" Five said which 'cause Zach to smile .

"But I'm not going to used it to travel back in time 'cause I don't want things to get worse" Five said and the two nodded "Well, I don't want that either, I just think it's best that is it in the hands of someone who know how to use it" Zach said "I agree" Natasha said "Now, can we get back to enjoy this peaceful day?" Five asked and the two nodded.
