CHAPTER FIFTEEN: THE COMMISSION

WEDNESDAY. 8:15 AM.

Luther, Klaus, Diego, Allison and Zach were all in the living room as Luther have told the others, what Five told him.

"Three days" Allison asked as she handing a cup of coffee to Luther "That's what Five said" Luther said "The old bastard did mention the apocalypse, come to think of it. He just left out the part about how soon" Klaus said "But can we trust him? Can we trust Natasha too? I don't know if you've noticed, but Five's and Natasha's little..." Allison said, putting her finger up to her temple and moved it around while whistling.

"Our little psychos" Klaus said, cutting her off as he lifted up his cup.

"Hey" Zach said as they all looked over at him "Either my mom or dad is a psycho, in fact my dad is a hero. He is doing everything he can to save you guys and the world" he said. 

"Well, he was pretty convincing. If he wasn't trying to stop an apocalypse, those lunatics wouldn't be chasing him or Natasha" Luther said "That's why they were after them?" Diego asked "Yeah and why I was sent out to stop them" Zach said and they all looked at him "Wait, what" they said "You were sent out to stop your own parents?" Diego asked "I was, but I was never going to" Zach said "Why would they sent you after them?" Diego asked "'Cause after them I'm the third best assassin they have and I have become the greatest child assassin the world has ever know" Zach said as he was standing leaning his back against a pillar while he had his hands on cross in front of his chest. 

"What did Five even see?" Allison asked "My dad told me and my mom that he saw destruction. My mom and I was not there, but we can't imanged that it was a pretty sight" Zach said.

 "Uh...Apparently, we all fought together against whoever was responsible" Luther said before looking down on the floor while nodding.

Luther then clicked his tongue "Okay. So, here's the plan" he said before getting up "Uh, we go through Dad's research---" "Wait, what?" Allison said cutting Luther off "Hold on, hold on" Diego.

"Wait a tick, wait a tick, wait a tick" Klaus said, holding up his hand "What actually happened the first time around?" he asked "Yeah. What are you not telling us?" Diego asked and Luther looked at him "Com on, big boy, spit it out" he said.

Luther got uncomfortable as he looked at the others, he let out a sigh before he answered "We died" he said quietly as he put his cup up to his mouth before taking a sip.

"What was that?" Allison asked and Luther let out a cough "Jesus, if you are too scared to say it, I will" Zach said and they looked at him "He said that you guys died" he said.

Natasha and Five could hear indistinct chatter as the two of them was walking with The Handler towards the Commission's headquarter.

"I must admit, Number Five and Natasha. In all the time that I've been here, I've never met anyone quite like you two" The Handler said "Hello, Handler, hello Miss Romanoff" a man said as he walked past the three.

"Hazel and Cha-Cha, for example are talented, certainly, but...they can't see the big picture. You spunk, your enterprising spirit, well, it reminds me a great deal of myself, if...I may be so vainglorious" The Handler said to the couple as the three walked up the steps that lead to the front door of the headquarter.

"If things work out for you two here, you could potentially make a fine successor, and so will your son" she said before they entered the headquarter.

"We told you already, our son is not gonna be a part of this anymore" Natasha said "That was a part of the deal. Our son will not have anything to do with The Commission anymore" Five said.

As soon as they enter, The Handler took off her jacket before handing it to a man.

"I'd like to discuss the logistis of our family's safety at you earliest your earliest convenience" Five said as they walked up the stairs.

People were still giving Natasha looks filled with fear but she ignored them.

"As well as the bodies replacement" Natasha said "Such chutzpah. It's refreshing, I'll admit. Slow down, you two. All in good time. In face, now that two finally agreed to work with us, we've got all the time in the world" The Handler said and as they walked up to next steps, The Handler stopped causing the couple to stop as well.

"Natasha, you know the way to the training room" The Handler said before she pointed to the right and Natasha looked to the right, looking down the hallway "Where only our best agents are trained. Many of them is quite a fan of you" The Handler said and Natasha looked back at her "They will be more than happy to find out that you are their trainer" The Handler said with a smile "So off you go"

But Natasha didn't moved "Nah, I think I will stay with Five for a little time. Beside those members can wait a little while. Be patience, that is one of the most important thing as an agent" she said and The Handler's smiled faded "Beside the first training will begin in a couple of hours" Natasha said and the couple could see that The Handler didn't like that at all, but she tried to hide it "Is that a problem?" Natasha asked "You did say that Nat and I could still be partners and partners spend a lot of time together, beside we are also a couple and they spend a lot of time together" Five said.

The Handler blinked a few times with her eyes before she looked down at both of them "Of course you are still partners in crime. Bonnie and Clyde. You are more than welcome to come with us, Natasha" The Handler said before she turned around and walked down the left hallway and the two followed her.

"The Commission works in support of a delicate balance between the time line of events and mankind's free will" she said as they walked past the briefcase room causing Five and Natasha to look at the room.

"The briefcase is no longer part of your kit. Free your mind. Natasha you are a trainer now and Five you're management now. One of us" she said as they walked past the room and The Handler continued to show the couple around the headquarters.

"Why is she showing us around, she know that we have both being here?" Natasha whispered as the two followed The Handler down the hallway "I don't know. But just follow the plan" Five said "Alright, but we need to be quick" she said "I know and you will. But be patient" he said "You know patient is not my strong side" she said "I know" he said "What are you two whispering about?" The Handler asked "Nothing" they both said.

"Alright, anyway. All the people on this floor are case managers, each one responsible for one major event at a time" she said as Natasha and Five looked into a room filled with people that was all sitting by their desk while typing on a typewriter.

"So many of them" Five said "Impressive, isn't it. Being part of something...so grand" The Handler said as they could hear indistinct chatter and phones ringing.

Then suddenly a woman that was writing on her typewriter looked up and her eyes widened as she let out a gasp when she saw Natasha standing next to Five.

When the woman gasp, the others looked up and their eyes widened before they also let out a gasp and they all stared at Natasha with fear.

"Seems like they know who I am" Natasha said "They do" The Handler said "But why, I have never being in this part before" Natasha said "Well, you are quite famous around here. Every member of The Commission knows who you are" The Handler said smiling.

"Come along" The Handler said as she walked away and the two walked after her.

"Whenever someone chooses the wrong path and the time line is changed, the Commission gets a report from field agents on the ground. These field reports are sorted and assigned to a case manager. They determine if anyone needs to be...removed from the equation to assure that their even happens as it should" The Handler explained.

Since Natasha already know the story, she rolled her eyes as she formered her fingers like a mouth while also moving her mouth, like she was mocking The Handler causing Five to let out a small and quietly chuckled.

The three then walked into the tube room and they saw an older woman trying to find out which tube to put the capsule in.

"Based on the determination, the case manager sends instructions via pneumatic tube to...tempotal assassins like you two formerly were. Any queries so far?" The Handler asked, looking at Five.

She knew that Natasha already knew everything there is to know about The Commission, so she didn't have any questions.

"Yeah. Who was the case manager handling me?" Five asked "Ah" The Handler said with a smile before she slid her finger down his cheek.

Natasha could feel the anger in her were boiling. She didn't like when The Handler did that to Five, she hated when she touch her boyfriend like that.

"You mean the apocalypse" The Handler said before she walked out of the room with Natasha and Five behind her.

Natasha knew that The Handler have tried to get with Five every since they both joined The Commission, she had always tried to flirt with him even when Natasha was standing right next to Five.

And everytime The Handler flirt with him while Natasha was there, she wasn't even looking at Natasha, it was like she was just air to her.

And even so Natasha knew how loyal Five is to her, she is not his type and he hated her just as much as Natasha do, she still hated it.

It was almost that Five could feel his girlfriend's emotions, so he looked at her and he knew how she felt. So gently and slowly he stroke one of his fingers down her hand before he wrapped it around one of hers which cause her to look at him.

"What is wrong?" he whispered so The Handler couldn't hear him "I don't like her touching you like that. Every time she do it, I want to give her a highfive, in the face, with a brick or a chair" she said "You don't have to be jealous. You know that she not my type and I only have eyes for you" he said "I know. You would rather kill yourself than be with her" she said "I rather drink acid, set myself on fire and then jump from a tall building than be with her" he said "You said the same about me one time and look at us now" she said "Hey" he said as he stopped causing her to stop as well.

He then put her face in his hands "You are the one I love, you are the one that holds the key to my heart and you always will. I love you and I will always love you, and nothing is gonna changed that. Okay?" he said as they stared into each other's eyes "Okay" she said with a nod "I love you" he said "I love you too" she said and he smiled before he pressed his lips against hers.

"Are you two coming!" The Handler called out causing them to pull away before they both continue to follow her.

The Handler lead the couple to another room where people was sitting by their desk while writing on their typewriter.

As soon as Natasha enter everyone looked up before letting out a gasp "Jesus guys, calm down, yes is me Natasha Romanoff, and I'm back and you are thinking 'Weird, why is she here' Well, to answer question, Five is a management and I'm just here to keep him company since we are still partners in crime and a couple. I'm not here to hurt you unless you give me a reason too and staring at me like that makes me annoyed and you guys know what happens to people that annoy me" Natasha said with a fake smile and everyone looked away from her "That's better" she said.

"Five, meet Dot" the Handler said "Oh, hi" Dot said, looking up from the typewriter "Dot is responsible for all apocalypse matters. In fact, it was Dot here who first flagged your appearance in 2019" The Handler said "No hard feelings" Dot said "Well, you two certainly put us through the ringer. Outsmarting two of our so-called best temporal assassins. I knew that you would outsmart them, Natasha" The Handler said and put her left hand on Five's right shoulder and her right hand on Natasha's left shoulder "If that doesn't spell leadership material..." she said out loud, getting attention from the people in the room.

"...I just don't know" The Handler said and let out a chuckled "I suspect...you two like a challenge" she said before she pulled out a chair by an empty desk causing the chair to made a squeaks sound.

"Which is why I've given you a particularly complex first case" she said before she grabbed a file with two pages inside and stretched it towards Five "You can even go on the job if you like" The Handler said, looking at Natasha as Five grabbed the file before he opened it.

"It's too bad Joseph Späh decided against sabotaging the fuel tank. It wouldn've been so much easier" The Handler said and chuckled "Anyhoo...if you have any questions...I'll be right behind you" she said, pointing at the door, before she looked at Natasha "So Natasha, now that Five is in his place, you can leave" The Handler said "Yeah, I'm standing a bit longer, just in case, beside he might need my help" Natasha said "Yeah, I think it's best she stay here, just for a little while. She can help me, she is the one with most experience" Five said "Alright, then, but remember you need to teach. You don't want to be late to your first class" The Handler said before walking out the door.

"I almost chopped off her hand" Natasha said "It was good you didn't do it in public" Five said before he sat down and Natasha grabbed an empty chair before she sat down next to Five.

Diego and Luther kept arguing over each other as they all stood by the bar counter "No, we need to figure this out" Diego said "Is it just us?" Allison asked "It's everybody" Zach said "In the house?" Klaus asked "The whole planet?" Allison asked "No, outside the house. Everyone died" Luther said.

"Hey" someone said causing them all to turn around to see Vanya behind them with a young man behind her.

"What's going on?" Vanya asked "It's a family matter" Allison said "A family matter. So of course you couldn't bother to include me" Vanya said "No, it's not like that. We were---" "Don't let me interrupt" Vanya said, cutting her off before she began walking out of the living room "Wait" Allison said, walking after Vanya.

"I'll fill you in later when we're alone" Allison said "Please, please, don't bother. And I won't either" Vanya said "Vanya, that's not fair" Allison said "Fair? There's nothing fair about being your sister. I haven been left out of everything for as long as I can remember" Vanya said before she looked at the others "And I used to think it was Dad's fault, but he's dead. So it turns out you're the assholes" she said before walking away with the man right behind her.

"Ouch" Zach said "I'm gonna go find Vanya and explain" Allison said and was about to go after Vanya but Luther stopped her "No, wait, there isn't time. We need to figure out what cause the apocalypse" he said and Allison sighed as she heard the front door close.

"Now, there are loads of possibilities. Nuclear war, asteroids. But I'm thinking this is about the Moon. Right? Dad must have sent me up there for a reason. And I was giving him daily updates on the conditions, I sent field samples. The first thing we need to do is find his research" Luther said "Hold on. Hold the phone. We all died fighting this the first time around. Remember?" Klaus said "Klaus, shockingly, has a point. What gives us a win this time?" Diego asked.

"Five. Last time we didn't have him. We weren't all together. This time we'll have the full force or the Umbrella Academy. That's what we need" Luther said "But Five isn't here" Diego said "No, but both him and my mom will come back" Zach said "When everyone is dead" Diego said "No, they will come back. I know it" Zach said "Your parents have left you" Luther said "No, my parents wouldn't do that" Zach said "Where is Five?" Allison asked "Him and my mom are working on a plan to stop all of this. They'll be back soon" Zach said.

"I'm going after Hazel and Cha-Cha" Diego said "Bad idea" Zach mumbled "What, right now?" Luther said "Hell, yeah. Three days. I'm losing light by the minute" Diego said "Wait, Diego. Look, I know you wanna avenge your friend, but we got a bigger problem here" Luther said "She wasn't just some friend. If I'm gonna die, I need to know I killed those bastards first. It's not about Dad. It's not about me. The longer I wait, Hazel---" "I know how important this is to you" Luther said, cutting Diego off "Stop making it about you" Diego said "You are gonna get yourself killed" Zach said "I don't care" Diego said "Well, good luck" Zach said and Diego let out a scoff as he left.

Then Klaus started leaving "Klaus? Klaus? Klaus!" Luther said "Yeah! Sorry" Klaus said and looked at him "So, what? You're giving up on the world, too?" Luther asked "Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. Mm-hmm" Klaus said "So that's it. You're cool with us all dying in three days?" Luther asked but Klaus didn't say anything and left the room.

Luther then looked at Zach who was the only one left in the living room other than him "So you are cool with all of us dying in three days?" he asked "No" Zach said "So you are gonna help?" Luther asked "In a way" Zach said "What does that mean?" Luther asked "I don't really know how to help, beside I'm not helping until my parents are back" Zach said before he turned around and left.
