3. KISSES

I was with you when the waves pulled you under,
And you hit your head against the sea’s bedrock.
I lent you my tongue when you needed to lick your wounds,
I wrapped my arms around your soul when it bled,
Kissed you till your knees stopped quivering,
And you could, once again, stand tall.
I don’t mean to remind you of all that I have done;
This merely at last resort.

I’m rotting from inside,
But the flashlights of fame have blinded you to my pain.
Your kisses would go a long way,
But I guess my face isn’t camera-friendly,
And the rashes on my skin won’t look so good next to your now flawless flesh.
All I ever asked for was your kisses,
And not even your love.
