Techna
"Alex! Alex! Where are you?" Anne called out for her partner, silence was the only reply. She sighed before thrusting her fist forward as she punched a brick wall. Pain shot through her fist and she recoiled back, pulling her hand to her chest and gently patting it.
Suddenly, the wall began to shake as an unlikely door opened to reveal a secret passage. Anne peeked her head in and looked around.
"Hmm... Should I stay or should I go?" She thought to herself aloud, casually referencing the song by The Clash.
She turned to the left and leaned back before turning to the right and doing the same, checking to make sure no one was watching. She stood tall and looked down the darkened path and took a deep breath.
"You only live once, right?" The corners of her mouth curled up into a small smile before she took the first step into the tunnel of darkness.

As she entered the darkened room, the lights flickered on to banish the darkness. The wall of her was made entirely of flat screen monitors, a fairly large computer stood in front of it with a main frame in the centre of a desk that held it and he computers. On either side there were various cooridors that lead to either more cooridors or racks of various weapons and gadgets.
"Woah. What is this place?" Anne twirled around, trying to take in her surroundings. Sudden footsteps behind her made her jump and spin around.
"Who are you? How did you get in here?" A woman with long blonde hair and glasses walked out of the shadowed passage.
"I'm sorry. The door- It just opened on its own...." Anne partially lied, rubbing her injured hand with her other hand.
"It's alright." The woman looked Anne over, she smiled casually as she walked closer to her. Her red cape dragged along the ground as she approached the girl.
"What is this place?" Anne asked softly, her voice shaking slightly with fear of what the woman would do to her. If only she had Alex with her.
"It's the DEO. A place where bad aliens go to be punished." The woman spoke in a monotone serious voice. Anne looked at the woman with fear in her eyes, a small smile crept upon the woman's face before she began to speak again. "Don't worry, the D.E.O helps save the earth from evil doers who mean to cause us harm."
"So, you're a hero. Like the Artst?" Anne forced herself to smile a bit, in an attempt to show the woman that she was not a threat.
"I don't know that one." The woman replied, placing her forefinger upon her chin in thought, "but the people of National City call me Supergirl." The woman explained as she removed her hand from her face and extended it out towards the female. "What are you called?"
"Anne. Anne Angelo is my name." Anne grasped the woman's hand with her own as she shook her hand. The woman's grip was tighter than any of that that Anne had felt before.
"It's nice to meet you Anne." Supergirl smiled as she released the girl's hand. "How would you like to become a hero?"
"Oh... I don't know." Anne looked down as she twiddled her thumbs. "I don't even have any powers." She looked up at the woman, her eyes small and filled with doubt.
"You don't need super powers to be a Hero." Supergirl explained, she then walked over towards the computers, motioning for Anne to follow her. "My friend Wynn has no super powers, but he helps me and the rest of the DEO on all of our missions. He's a tech wizard and he even made my suit." She twirled around, her skirt lifting up ever so slightly as she spun.
"Really?" Anne's eyes widened, hope returning to them.
"Mhmm." Supergirl nodded. "And my sister, she doesn't have any powers like me. But she still can kick some butt and with Wynn's gadgets, she too can have a pseudo power." She smiled widely, gently leaning against the desk with the computers.
"I... I want to help my friend in saving the world." Anne pulled her hands close to her chest as she walked over to Supergirl. "I want to be a hero too."
"Then you will, with my training." The woman reached out to grab the girl's hands, Anne winced slightly as her wounded hand was held by the strong gripped woman. "Are you alright?" Supergirl looked at the girl, concerned about her reaction.
"I'm fine." Anne lied, "I just hurt my hand, that's all. Nothing big." Supergirl sighed.
"If my sister was here, she would have the perfect solution to heal you right up. But for now, we'll have to just wrap that up." The woman then began to search for a guaze to wrap the girl's hand up with.
As Supergirl was on the hunt for bandage wrap, Anne looked up at all the screens. She gently ran her non-injured hand across the keys of the keyboard and suddenly, all the monitors lit up. Her green eyes turning to a frosty blue colour before she let go, her eyes returned to their normal colour after she let go of the keyboard.
"What happened?" Anne gasped, trying to understand the magic behind what had happened. Supergirl turned around with a smirk upon her face.
"Looks like you're a technopath." She squealed slightly before pulling out the guaze she had gathered and gently wrapped the girl's injured hand with it.
"What's a technopath?" Anne tilted her head ever so slightly to the side, confusion was evident in her voice.
"A technopath is someone who can control technology and much more." Supergirl exclaimed, joy filled her eyes. "Are you ready to become a hero?" She asked as she outstretched her hand towards Anne.
Anne looked at the woman and then to her hand. She then looked back and forth between the hand and her face before she reached out and grasped the woman's hand.
"I was born ready." She replied in the cheesiest way as she shook Supergirl's hand, showing that she was serious.

The screens lit up to indicate that another evil doer had caused some trouble in the city. Supergirl walked up behind the girl who stood in front of the screens and formed a wide grin.
"Think you're ready to show this world what you're made of?" Supergirl spoke in her heroic voice as she widened her grin.
Anne spun around to face her mentor, she wore a light aquamarine blue spandex super suit - with a silver-white belt, gloves, and boots. Her super suit had a skirt and a bullet proof cape. The gloves allowed her to easily control and communicate with any electronic device with ease, her boots had built-in rocket boosters which allowed her to fly - or at least have her appear to be flying.
"I was bor-" Anne began before she was cut off.
"You were born ready. Enough with the clichés." Supergirl cut in, casually rolling her eyes as the right corner of her mouth curled up to form a smirk. "Now get out there Techna, show me all that you have learned!" Supergirl spun around to point at the exit.
Anne smiled and raced out of the DEO, headed for the evil doer.
Jumping off a ledge, Anne activated her boosters on her boots and flew off into the sky. She then closed her eyes and listened for nearby devices that could lead her to the culprit, as she got a signal, Anne activated the thrusters and shot towards the target.
Holding her fist out, the girl caught the criminal by surprise as her fist slammed into his face. He smashed into the wall before peeling off of it and falling face forward into the concrete ground.
"You have the right to remain silent." Anne barked as DEO agents swarmed the area. A proud Supergirl walked over to her student as an agent handcuffed and dragged the criminal away.
"Well done grasshopper, you are indeed ready." She smiled down upon Anne as she held out her hand to her.
"Thank you." Anne smiled brightly as she gently grasped Supergirl's hand in her own.
And with that, a new hero was born.
