I was sleeping in my bed when I woke up to the sound of screaming. "What was that captain?" "I'm not sure David but it sounds like it's coming from Ritchie." I run down to Ritchie's room David behind me I ran into Ritchie's room to see him screaming in pain. "David hold him down I'm going to try and calm him down." "Alright captain." David held Ritchie down and I approached him I sat on the bed and started to pet his hair. "It's okay Ritchie you safe everything is fine just relax." I was still petting him his screaming started to slow down until he went limp and started to breath evenly. I stopped petting him and David let go of him. "What was that captain?" "I don't know David it must be from the artifact we need to go on patrol tomorrow ask Branden to check on him while were gone." "Alright captain." David walked away to talk to Branden I turned to Ritchie and stroked his hair. "It's alright Ritchie I'll be back after patrol." I walk out of the house with David right behind me. We were walking on patrol when some bandits attacked us we quickly defeated them and took them to the prison. "Well that was quite easy what now captain?" "We're going home we finished patrol for the day and I'm honestly worried about Ritchie we left him with Branden so I'm worried about his condition." "That is true we did leave him with Branden I wonder what the artifact is doing to him." "I don't know but I do know that it's causing him a lot of pain and then there is the fact that it disappeared as soon as it flung him back." "What are we going to do?" "I don't know we will have to wait but I did send merlin a letter explaining everything she said she would do some research and tell us what she would find. She also said to keep an eye on him and care for him and when he wakes up if he's acting strange to bring him to her." "Well I guess this all we can do for now." "Yeah let's go home." We walked home and talked to Branden. "How is he did you check on him?" "Yes cap yawn I did." "I'm going to check on him just in case." "Yeah I'm gonna go with you just in case I need to hold him down again."  I walk into Ritchie's room David following behind me I see Ritchie panting heavily so I walk  over to him and feel his head. "What's wrong captain?" "He's burning up bring me some water and a damp cloth." "Yes captain." David runs off to get the things I asked for I turned to Ritchie and stroked his hair. "It's alright Ritchie I'm here we are all going to help you through this." David walked back in with the stuff I put the cloth on Ritchie's head and propped him up to eat the soup I put the spoon in his mouth and took the spoon out. "Come on Ritchie swallow the soup it will make you feel better." Ritchie began to eat the soup after the bowl was finished I laid him back down and covered him up and walked back out with David behind me. "So captain do you think that's the end of it?" "No he's probably going to get worse and wake us  up again so get as  much sleep as you can." "That's means I'm gonna have to hold him down again night captain." David left so I walked to my room and went to bed.
