I'm upset that you lied,
But I'm more upset that I can't believe you.

"Peel all those potatoes, okay? Then let em boil. Making a big batch of mashed potatoes today."

Pomelia nodded her head silently, and took the potato peeler to a large beat up potato. She began slicing the bronzed skin of the potatos carefully, making sure to get all of the skin off of each one.

It had been her sixth day working in the kitchen and the woman in charge of it had made her cook a small breakfast for her the first day of her kitchen duty. Pomelia did and exceeded the woman's expectations. Since then she had taken a lot of responsibility in the kitchen. She enjoyed cooking, it took her mind off of everything.

She was exhausted though. She cooked breakfast at the Alpha house then would rush to the dining hall for the pack. Why did she do it? She couldn't...she didn't know why. She knew Alpha Khan didn't appear in the dining hall in the mornings, and Trent always slept in. Plus the new female Lo was heavily pregnant. She would hate for a woman carrying to have to walk all the way to the dining hall for a hot meal. The last reason she cooked was because she knew he didn't like to be around a lot of people...and the dining hall was always packed.

"Hey priest lady!"

Pom turned her head slightly and smiled at a few women who were coming in to help cook. They were late. Everyday. One woman always smelt like sex, the others smelled of alcohol and cigarettes, maybe?

They each quickly fell into their respective zones, and of course turned up the blaring human music they always listened to while cooking. Pom found herself tapping her foot to the beat sometimes and the girls would all smile when she did so.

"...Yes, Trent! The best sex I ever had. He was so wild, it was kind of crazy but in a hot way." Pom couldn't help but listen to the girls gossiping.

One woman scoffed. "Trent? Seriously? He looks like he wants to burn down the entire world and you're telling me he hit on you first?"

"I know! I was walking home and his car almost hit me and I kind of blacked out on him. He said sorry!" They all gasped. "Then he asked if I wanted a ride and he smoked me up, ate me out and screwed the attitude right out of me."

They all squealed.

Pom felt her cheeks burning. Sex was a normal topic for the kitchen crew. The conversation always revolved around males and females bodies in the pack.

"So on a scale from 1-10 how good was it?"

"I'd say an 8. Did I mention he had a toga on?! Oh and an 8 just because he didn't kiss me and did doggy. It was great but I like eye contact...oh and that tongue!" They all burst out into fits of giggles while Pom's brain was burning to make sense of their talk. Everytime they spoke of sex, Pom would think of her limited yet passionate experiences with him and felt like crying.

Instead of doing just that, she hummed a song in her head, the one she always hummed when she was nervous or stressed out. Which had been everyday lately... Once she was done with her dinner prep and made sure that everything was set in place, she took her leave from the kitchen.

As she wandered the pack grounds, she contemplated going back to the Alpha house. She didn't want to see anyone in that house. Maybe just Lo who was pregnant.

Pom would watch the baby kick and move inside the woman's stomach. Every time Lee would show up and talk the baby would start to move a lot and it was cute to watch it. The happy family...

Her hand went to her stomach and a sigh left her lips. She had imagined having young with War. Their babies would have blonde hair like him and deep brown eyes like her...but now she couldn't even think like that. Thinking like that, dreaming, hoping it wasn't good for her health.

War still went out and did things she didn't know. He would come back to the house smelling clean as if he took a shower somewhere before setting foot in the house. Which could only mean he had been doing terrible things before and didn't want her to smell it on him.

The smell of blood and a host of other scents assaulted her nose and her curious wolf followed the scent. They never had raw meat in wolf form, and the animal instinct was taking over quickly.

As Pom's wolf trudged through the cold forest, the scent of males and rich blood made her trot turn into a full fledge run. She was on the edge of her heels with excitement, the curiosity getting the best of her juvenile like mind of her wolf.

She ran directly into a large male wolf. She whimpered away, tripping over her feet as the wolf snarled and turned his big head to the side to growl at her.

Fear seeped into her bones as she fell on her back and quickly squirmed around, helplessly trying to get back up on her feet. Her wolf was nervous and scared and that was making them too clumsy. Once she was upright, she looked around and noticed it was about 8 other wolves and they were nipping and biting at a large fallen animal. It looked like a moose?

As Pom lifted her snout in the air to sniff at the fallen food, the wolf she ran into, snapped with his jaws, letting her know she shouldn't even be sniffing around their kill.

She took a few steps back, watching as the wolf sniffed the air around her and then made a grunting sound. She was still nervous, not being able to turn away and run like she should be doing.

Then she smelt a familiar scent as her nose sifted through the blood and the other male scents. It was her mate. He had blood dripping from his muzzle and licked it clean as his large wolf approached Pom's smaller one.

Pomelia was upset and angry with him still but the wolves were in love and the moment they touched, the moment War was rubbing against them and licking at their fur, her wolf melted. Pomelia received every lick and scenting, enjoying being doused in her mates scent.

Once her mate was done ensuring she was oozing him from her pores, he trotted over to the large kill. He ripped at the limp, brown flesh, tearing a piece off and having it hang in his mouth.

War walked past her and she instinctively followed behind, her tail wagging in happiness. Once they were alone he dropped the food down on a nice patch of green grass and growled low in his throat. Pom happily obliged, licking his muzzle before she dove in to the gamey meat.

The piece was larger than she thought as she tore into it with her sharp canines, gulp after gulp. Before she knew it, her belly was full and she was content in life. She whimpered and shoved the remaining meat with her nose in his direction.

War quickly ate up the rest and then stretched out beside her. Pomelia lazily got to her feet and rubbed her scent into his large body, seductively nipping at swishing her tail.

Pom knew her wolf was playing a dangerous game but she wasn't sure how to take back control. She was still a newbie at this stuff. War was supposed to be her teacher...but those lessons had stopped.

Her mates wolf quickly understood the flirtatious looks and nips he was receiving was morphing into something more and he instantly sprang to his feet. He whined, putting his head low and rubbing his full side against them.

Her wolf reveled in the long licks received from her mate. He was licking the base of muzzle and pressing his furry head into her.

Before Pomelia knew it, he was behind her his teeth lightly grazing the scruff of her neck. She smelt the prominent scent of his wolf's arousal and her wolf reeked with the want of their male.

Pomelia began to panic, fight for her right to reclaim her body. She whimpered, inside of her head, her wolf pushing down her fear and fury. Her wolf really wanted this apparently.

Somehow, someway, Pomelia reigned in her unruly wolf, and began to shift. Quicker than she had ever done before. She felt the fur under her smooth, skin, the dirt and leaves sticking to her palms.

When she felt as if she could find her voice again, she began to talk. "Let me go!" Pom struggled, under the weight of the wolf who was now gently licking her ear. Trying to calm her down.

Pom cringed as she felt his fur turn into skin. She gasped, feeling his...his large member pressing against her bottom. "Please no!"

"I-I'm just getting up," he said quickly, as within the few seconds his weight was lifted off of her. She rose to her feet too, trying her best to place her hand over the apex of her thighs and her breasts. It was pointless though. She was a shaky mess. She felt betrayed by not only her mate still from recent events but now her wolf.

"They got carried away," he spoke as she refused to meet his gaze.

"Um y-yeah..." She spoke, not liking herself for the tears that began to shed from her eyes. Or that she could scent out War's sadness at her tears.

She didn't want him to see her body, so she let the tears fall, not caring to wipe them away. Sniffling up her runny nose. "I'm...sorry. Us humans are having problems, but the wolves don't see it that way."

Pom could tell they didn't. All they cared about was meat and loving one another. Her wolf was silent in her mind. Usually she put images of running In the grass or cuddling with War in their mind...but not now. She was as silent as a mouse. Her wolf was suffering...she wanted to be with their mate.

"I know," she whispered back, caving and wiping her face with her one hand. "I-I have to grab my clothes," she sniffled, blinking hard to try and get the tears from out of her line of vision.

"No," War growled as she took a step back, and tried to hide her anger at him saying no. "It's too far. Let me grab my clothes. You can...borrow my shirt."

She shook her head. She couldn't be engulfed in his scent. It would hurt her heart even more. "N-No. I can-"

"-You are still my mate," War growled out, her eyes darting over to him involuntary as he spoke sternly. "Wait, Pomelia. Let me get my shirt." He spoke it softer now and she nodded her head, her tears collecting at her chin and dribbling down.

He left her and she had to pry her eyes off of his form. She wished things were different. If he hadn't of lied to her, all that happened just a minutes ago would have been romantic, happy. Maybe they would have shifted and they would have finally been joined together intimately...not anymore of course.

The only man she loved shattered that. She still loved him and it broke her heart and her mind that she couldn't just get over it. She couldn't just simply forgive him lying to her all along. From the moment they met...

After a few tense minutes of her praying to the goddess that no one saw her, War came back with his sweatpants sculpted to his muscular legs and a large shirt in his hands. He was staring directly at her head, nothing lower which she was appreciative of.

"Thank you," she murmured as she quickly slipped the shirt over her body. She was encompassed in his rich scent, the feeling of frustration bubbling up inside of her heightening as her wolf finally began to 'talk.' Which meant she was thinking about War in his skin and fur form.

"Can I walk you back to your clothes?" She nodded her head silently, her stomach knotting up as she thought about later tonight when they had to go to sleep. She slept in the large bed and War slept on the couch in the bedroom. He would wear a pair of pants and a shirt to bed. She had resorted to wearing her nightgowns from the temple again...

What was she going to do? She loathed the silence with him. She used to enjoy it, a lot. War didn't speak a lot so just being near him was soothing, but now she felt like she was walking on egg shells.

"What...what's next?" She paused in her short strides, watching War walk ahead of her. He must have been caught up in his own thoughts, be use he paused and looked around, as if looking for her.

She watched him turn around and stare at her. "Are you okay?"

He already knew the answer...but he asked anyway. "I asked what's next. What was your plan after telling me you lied about everything? War I don't know what to do. It's only been six days and I don't know what to do..."

He seemed surprised. Her mate shrugged, his cheeks were coloring a bit. "I-I don't know. I was trying to start a new life...just us in a different pack but-"

"-But what now?" She pressed. She didn't know what to do or how to act. She didn't have anyone to talk to. She was petrified to call her mother. She couldn't possibly tell a woman who was head of the LPA that her mate was a murderer. She would be disappointed in Pomelia. She couldn't talk to Luna Mei. She had no idea where Jess was. Priestess Arana was always busy. Always. She had no one to turn to and she needed help.

War seemed like he was nervous. "We can start over."

"How?"

"I can move down the hall, out of the room," as he spoke his eyes kept glowing and becoming dull again. No doubt his wolf not appreciating what he was saying. "We can have lunch or something and talk everyday... Leo and Lo do that with their dinner everyday."

Pom wanted to smile, thinking about the pregnant new couple. They were so cute. "War...I don't mean like that. I don't trust you...how are you going to fix that?"

"I stopped working with Khan."

She knew that was a lie and it angered her that he would still continue to lie after he saw the effects it had on this relationship. "I-I don't want to fix this. If you're going to continue to lie!"

War glowered at her. He seemed genuinely angry at her. "I'm not lying."

"But you are!" He was such a good liar that she couldn't differentiate between lies and the truth. She was still so upset that he lied to her, her heart still bleeding that she didn't want to believe him. The conversation was a mistake. He wasn't going to change, he would continue to lie. "I-I have to go and help Nick with his studies. I will see you at dinner."

She rushed away, leaves crunching loudly under her  bare feet. He didn't follow.

"Makaria it is time you take your next assignment."

She lay in her hammock, watching the twinkling stars shoot about, the moon bathing her dark skin in its light. Her hand hung below the hammock, her fingers brushing against rough fur. A hound was under her hammock, receiving her lazy pets for the past hour or so.

She glanced at Callisto. Still in her armor, the moon beams bouncing off of her shiny helmet. "I am aware," she sighed as the head maiden frowned and unsheathed her head from her helmet.

"What troubles you?"

Makaria was not used to Callisto asking her what was wrong. Usually Callisto was always pointing out what wrongs Makaria and the other women of the attendants have done. "I feel ill about Warren of Bane pack. I have no hope for them."

Callisto scoffed. "Makaria love is odd. It will either prevail or be squashed. Love can overcome or fall."

"I do not know this type of love. I am not sure it will prevail. It is forbidden to ask the fates so I hang on the edge of despair for the couple." It was the truth. The goddess had granted Makaria a resting period of a few days for her accomplishments with Warren and Pomelia. She had successfully prevented them from dying and made Warren expose his dark sins.

"It is their choice now, we cannot interfere anymore. You have done your job and now it is time for another." Makaria did not like being in this department. She rather file away memories of pack lineage instead of mingling and mettling with the the lives of lycans.

She turned away from Callisto. "Do you know my next assignment?"

"Well, the goddess wants to speak to you. Then she will decide."

"That makes me nervous..."

"As you should be."
