It only takes one spark
to start a fire.
~Mel

Pomelia had never been this excited for much of anything in her life. Her mate really was a sweet man. He wasn't upset that she couldn't shift...he complimented her new dress and she was beginning to thoroughly enjoy holding hands with him. She liked the feeling of his skin on hers and his rough large palm rubbing against her hand. It was so soothing...and overwhelming.

She couldn't believe that he let her do his hair. She was used to doing Sera's hair every day and enjoyed it a lot and for him to let her do his hair just made her so happy. She was so surprised that it wasn't worse than what she imagined. He only had one measly shampoo bottle in the bathroom and one dull comb. A razor was there but glancing up at his nice beard told her that he really didn't use the appliance all that much. She liked his beard anyway...it tickled when he kissed her and it felt nice on he neck.

"My pack mates are animals."

Pom was pulled out of her thoughts as her and War walked hand in hand on his pack lands. The sun was setting and streaks of orange, reds and pinks danced around the sky. It was really a beautiful scene. She never saw the outside much at the compound. The fact that she couldn't shift was more than enough of a reason that she was assigned in house chores and duties...

"....crude and shameless."

Her mate had been talking all along while she enjoyed the beauty of nature and he was talking rather awfully about the people he called pack mates. "War I don't like to judge people...it's okay. I'll make my own decisions. I'm sure they aren't that bad."

War seemed to have absolutely no faith in his pack members being good people. It wasn't a thing he believed in and that made her want to like his people even more. War was nervous for her to meet them so he wrote them off in the beginning so that she wouldn't get her hopes up.

It wasn't as if the people she met already were 'good.' Jess was very sweet but she hit and berated Alpha Khan and he did the same in return to her. She knew for a fact those weren't healthy or good tendencies yet she didn't snub her nose up at them. Maybe the priestesses at her home would but not her. She hoped to befriend Jess so much that she could eventually question her about Alpha Khan and her.

She didn't know War that well and she was sure he would never put his hands on her in anger, and she would never do that to him. She was sure if War even thought about it, it would prove disaster for her. She was so...weak unfortunately.

"I'm just preparing you."

Squeezing his hand lightly she smiled up at him. "It's okay, War." It was odd how her hands never sweat with her hand in his. Sometimes when they pray holding hands back at the temple her hands would be so sweaty or hot... She would have some problems.

As a few pack members passed by them every now and then, they would all stare her down and then receive a warm smile from her. Once they awkwardly finished their assessment of her their eyes bounced from War and her's adjoining hands then at War. Which only lasted a few seconds.

"Why are they all scared of you?" Pom questioned her mate as she glanced up at him. His glacier like eyes were shinning brightly, and a nasty scowl was placed on his lips. She gulped. So that's why the people only lasted a few measly seconds looking in his direction... War really did look terrifying when he put his mind to it.

As they came closer and closer to the large group of people, Pomelia did become a little nervous. What if they didn't like her? Well she was sure Alpha Khan liked her and well Jess was her friend. Trent...she really wasn't sure of. He didn't really speak to her at all.

War suddenly paused, almost making Pomelia run into him. She wondered why he stopped and could see a very well built, dark skinned man in glasses walking in their direction. "He's the pack doctor," War explained to her as he waved the male over. "Doctor Wes!"

He had a glass bottle in his hand and took a long gulp of it before acknowledging War. "Please don't tell me I have to stitch you up again. Please, War. It's only been a weeks time."

War made some type of noise that resembled a laugh but not. The man's eyes strayed to Pom before looking at their hands and then back at Pom. "Wait...you have a girl now? I didn't think you'd go for her type?"

Pom wanted to know what 'his type was.' "What is War's type? I'm his mate Pomelia. Nice to meet you," she slipped that in hoping she wasn't too rude.

The man cursed under his breath, his chocolate eyes widening. He seemed more than surprised. "My type is you," War told her as the man tipped his oddly shaped glass towards War.

"Smart answer man. It's nice to meet you Pomelia. I'm glad one of the big three finally has a mate. War, you deserve one the most." The big three? Would that be War, Trent and Alpha Khan?

War didn't seem to want to talk about that, instead he told the doctor something she told him that was a bit private! "No more small talk. She can't shift...we need to know why."

Pom frowned at her mate, and the doctor began to rub his chin. "Okay, no problem. Don't be ashamed Pomelia. Half breeds have that problem. It's-"

"-Don't call her a half breed," War snapped rather harshly. His hand squeezed hers a little too tight and her hand immediately went to his arm, rubbing it softly. It was okay that he call her that. It was the truth.

The man put his hand up in defense. "I didn't mean to be rude. Pomelia one of your parents is a human correct and the other a wolf?" She nodded her head. "So that would make her a half breed, but if it's a sore subject. I'll drop the name...now she can't shift?"

"No she can't...that's our problem."

He took another swing of whatever was in the brown bottle. "Oh okay sometimes a mix of fluids will trigger the dormant Lycan genes. Saliva sometimes does the trick." Saliva?

"My saliva?"

Doctor Wes chuckled. "No, the swapping of saliva. So War's saliva will help."

Pom frowned. "We were kissing the other day. It was short but his tongue entered my mouth briefly...oh and he was sucking on my neck." Pom knew that she had War's arm intimately pressed into her, but she didn't care. She was so embarrassed.

The doctor took another sip of his beer. "Probably wasn't enough fluid secreted. Blood, seminal fluid, or saliva. Try one of those and you should be feeling like a real Lycan in no time."

Blood was out of the question. She was not a vampire! "What is seminal fluid?"

"Pomelia," War said in a way that made her confused and the doctor chuckle, smiling at her as if she said something dumb.

"It's fine, War I'm a doctor. It's the fluid secreted from a male penis when aroused. Most of the time semen does the trick or saliva during oral sex will suffice."

Pom felt like melting into the floor again. Oral meant mouth...mouth sex? Was that considering kissing? How lewd of anyone to call it that. "You mean...kissing?"

"Pomelia," War warned again, as the doctor seemed to be enjoying this.

"No. It does involve the mouth though. It is when a person uses their mouth to pleasure another's genitals. In this case War's mouth would be-"

"No! Oh, this Ah, I didn't mean to that's all just a bit too much. I'm so sorry," Pomelia rambled nervously, pressing her body more into War. She was so embarrassed, why was she so curious all the time. His mouth...there. Oh goodness. She was ready to pass out thinking of such things.

Doctor Wes chuckled. "No need to be ashamed or embarrassed. Sex is a wonderful treat between two consensual beings. Some people have a problem with the consent part," he said bitterly as he took a long swig of his beer. What caused him to look so sad at the end of his statement? Whatever it was, War seemed to pick up on it just as she did.

"I appreciate the advice." War stuck his hand out and the men embraced each other's hands briefly before War drug them away from him. "He's the only good male," War told her as she scoffed at his words. "What?"

"No he's not. You're missing someone."

That seemed to bother her big lug of a mate. "Who? Trent?" He said it with such venom she had to giggle. He really didn't like the male.

"No, War. It's You." The left corner of her mate's mouth twitched, before he smirked at her.

The smile on her lips vanished a bit before she felt the need to press into him even more. It was at least sixty people, sprawled all over the place. Some were on logs, some on blankets, others standing up.

Pom was highly aware of the little to no clothing that females were wearing...and the abundance of clothing that she wore.

"Well finally the happy couple arrives!"

She noticed that voice. It was Alpha Khan. He was sitting on a fallen log with a woman on his lap...who was not Jess. War took them over to Alpha Khan.

All eyes seemed to be on her as whoever else was on the log began to move and make room for both of them. Not really though it seemed as if only one of them were going to be able to sit. Glancing at the other couples gathered around she noticed that all of the women were sitting on their mates' laps.

War shoved her lightly towards the free space and she chewed at her inner cheek. "Oh I'll sit on your lap," She whispered to War as he gave her an odd look before sitting down. She was about to sit, before she felt War's hands around her waist and pulling her down. She didn't want it to be awkward for War, they could be like the other couples...

She let loose a squeal as War nonchalantly held onto her, beginning to speak to Alpha Khan in hushed tones. She felt incredibly awkward but noticed that's how most people were sitting. Other than the people who were facing one another and...kissing heavily.

"Are you okay?" Pom chewed on her bottom lip, feeling War's warm breathe fanning her ear. This wasn't such a good idea, she just wanted to fit in with the rest of the mated pairs... She already knew she embarrassed War with the way she was dressed.

"Yes," she said quickly, as her eyes took interest in the large pile of burning wood and fire.

It was beautiful and warm and bright and lively. Not to mention the music that some people were listening and dancing to. Vibrant and fast paced...some of the woman were dancing with their males. She noticed a few women grinding their rears against their dance partners rather lewdly... A lot of people had the odd shaped brown bottles in their hand and she watched as one was being passed down to War...two actually.

Her mate took one and set it on the ground, before keeping one in his hand. Before she could question anything, Alpha Khan stood up, immediately warranting everyone else to quiet down.

"Tonight let's toast to War and his mate! He gained a mate and we gained a new pack member. This girl can cook and she is managing to tame down my boy, War. I want a warm welcome for Pomelia!"

The people around her erupted in applause and whistles and howls. It was all so loud and overwhelming...and sweet. War on the other hand was clutching her thigh awfully tightly the louder it became. She waved at a few of the members, before she watched War's bottle lift up in the air. Everyone else did the same as him and then began to drink from the brown bottles.

She tried her best to shift sideways to stare at her mate. "War can I have some? Everyone else seems to be drinking it."

Her mate frowned. "You don't know what this is."

Pomelia really didn't know what it was....not at all. "I know that the bottle on the ground is meant for me. I know what it is, War."

War grabbed the bottle and handed it to her, watching her closely with those intense glacier eyes. She gulped nervously, her eyes straying to his hands and the way he held his bottle. She repeated his actions. He took a long swig of it and she brought the bottle up to her lips..

The liquid filled her mouth and she forced herself to gulp down a mouthful. It was bitter and tart and nothing that she wanted more of. "I didn't know the priestesses let you drink alcohol."

A gasp left her lips, as War glared at her. "I...I'm fine. I've had alcohol before." She was lying so terribly. The alcohol tasted disgusting yet everyone was drinking it as if it were water. She didn't understand...at all.

While Pomelia observed the crowd of pack members, she could hear nasty words and growls suddenly being exchanged. Her eyes bounced around the site, finally finding where the commotion was coming from. Two or three men were attacking one another.

"War handle that will you. Probably fighting over pussy."

She could hear War sigh under his breath. "I'll be right back."

Pom was suddenly being pushed up to stand, before gently shoved back down. War was heading over to the men savagely pummeling one another! She gripped her brown bottle nervously, watching her mate stalk over to the men.

War shoved one back, spitting words that couldn't be too nice at him, while the other man proceeded to yell. One attempted at grabbing her mate and that didn't...end to well. War slammed his elbow into the man's nose and shoved the other to the ground.

"Don't look so afraid. I've seen War break up fights and he's holding back a lot right now."

The woman who was just so recently on Alpha Khan's lap was now seated next to her, swirling whatever that was in her cup around and smelling it. She recognized the woman. She was the one who was with Alpha Khan when Jess had a meltdown the other day. Then attacked Alpha Khan.

"I just don't want him to get hurt," Pomelia said shakily as she looked away from the scene and focused on the brown bottle in her hand. What if he got hurt? He was a warrior but that still didn't mean anything. Everyone bled the same...regardless of ones strength.

The woman laughed. "You must not be used to violence or War. You're from the priesthood right? I'm Amber by the way."

Pom gave her a slight smile, and jumped once she heard a sickening crack and a snarl. She refused to look where her mate was. She couldn't fathom violence really... "Uh nice to meet you and yes, I don't really do violence. Especially against our own kind..."

A snort made Pom look up at the woman. She was now glaring at her as if she said something wrong.. Pom was just telling her, her beliefs... "But you're okay with War killing? Double standard much? Is that how all you religious ladies are? No wonder Khan doesn't like you guys."

Never had she felt threatened before. Well maybe the first time she met War, but she felt attacked. Whoever this woman was didn't know what she was talking about. At all, and to bring in her sisters from the priesthood and talk ill. That wasn't right either! "I don't know what you're talking about. War isn't a killer."

"What nonsense is this bitch spewing?"

The sound of a familiar voice had Pomelia's jittery shakes calming down a bit. It was Jess. She was wearing the same outfit as earlier, but it seemed a bit more disheveled. She seemed much more disheveled then earlier.

"Here comes Messy Jessy. What do you want? I'm talking with a friend," Amber spat at Jess, making her start to laugh as if what Amber said was actually a joke. Pom didn't get it at all.

Jess scoffed. "You don't even know her, Amber. Pom you look upset, what did she tell you? Where's daddy war bucks?" She questioned as she took the big clad bottle in her hand and began to chug it. Pom's sense of smell wasn't even that good and she knew that the smell was straight up alcohol.

"I'm not spewing anything. I told her War is a murderer and she doesn't believe me. That's one thing we can agree on, right Jess? War isn't an angel," the woman claimed as Jess paused in her drinking.

Pom waited for Jess to say something funny or call the woman a liar, when she didn't she started to get nervous. "My mate isn't a murderer."

Jess awkwardly sighed. "Pom honey, no ones innocent. People do things and sometimes for the greater good. I'm not a saint either believe it or not."

This was Jess trying to justify...trying to make it okay for War to be a killer. She didn't even defend him. She was agreeing with this woman! "Well here he comes. Why don't you just ask him now."

"Amber seriously, shut the fuck up."

Pom looked up to where War was, and the girl was right. He was coming this way...staring straight into her soul. Fear slithered over her senses, her mind, her thoughts. She didn't think. She wasn't thinking.

Confrontation was not something that Pom enjoyed. That was why she broke down in tears when telling War she didn't think that he liked her. Confrontation in front of everyone was just going to make it worse. She couldn't...

Flight or fight senses kicked in...
Pom rose to her feet, and ran.

"Pomelia!"
