Chapter 13: No More Doubts

It was the last melodic phrase of Lyra's song, and Lucy who had also been listening inside Gray's room stood up from the couch, where she sat on. The celestial spirit stepped in with an attempt of telling her master that her song had ended and to ask her whether she needs to sing another song or not.
However, Lucy immediately went to her spirit's direction, and when they met half way through, she gave her a gentle hug.

"Thank you. You don't know how your song means to us..."
Lucy almost cried when she told Lyra those words, and the latter smiled from her master's gestures.

"Anything for you master. I only wished for you and Gray to be well from now on." The celestial spirit responded, grateful that she had fulfilled her master's wish.

"You've been a help, I wish you well too. Bye for now..."
Lucy bid goodbye to Lyra. She had an angelic tone when she spoke, that it made Lyra blush in gratitude. Surely, she has been lucky for having a kind master.
Then, the songbird spirit disappeared in a puff of air.  Meanwhile, incoming footsteps were heard by Lucy, and she knew who had come.

As soon as Gray  was around three steps where Lucy was, the two mages made eye contact. The woman couldn't perceive the man's countenance, yet she knew that, there's somewhat a look of relief in those eyes. She was about to speak when the other person beat her to it.

            "I'm sorry..."
Lucy was confused with Gray's words.
Why would he say sorry? She wanted him to stop being apologetic. Aside from that, there was something that she needed to tell him.

"You always seem to have the habit of apologizing these days, but believe me, you don't have to, Gray. It's me who should be saying sorry. I've been pushing you to tell me everything even though you're not ready... I'm sorry..."
It was now Lucy's turn to be apologetic. She realized she had been inconsiderate, demanding the guy for some answers without knowing first his true motives in hiding them.

"No, just hear me out on this, Lucy... I saw your face last night, when you excused yourself from Loke and me. I know you were thinking of something and it's not a good one. I-I... followed you, b-because I want to be there for you but it turned out it was you, who took care of me, instead of me to you... For that, I'm being sorry." Gray stuttered and stammered a little when he spoke to Lucy. He guiltily thought of himself as a whining baby, whom Lucy had to babysit for the night.
The woman had only sighed and held one if his hands, leading themselves towards the couch.
The moment the two were already seated, Lucy was able to think of something, and unknowingly, Gray, as well.
"I have something to tell you."
"I do have something to say."
They both speak simultaneously, and although, they didn't utter the same thing, the meaning in their words were in accordance to each other.
Both had gazed at one another, as if they were now in agreement to hear each other out...

............-_-.....………-_-…………......-_-..............

The daylight was now at its peak, signaling the atmosphere that it was already noontime.
Both mages were now at Gray's balcony, and other than the sound of the waves and the loud chirping of birds, silence surrounded the two.
Lucy decided to speak first. She changed position, by reversing herself in order to face Gray.
Her elbows were now on the boat's railings, and her back had leaned against them. She drew her face to Gray's side, who had been looking down to the ocean water before she managed to make him look at her direction.
Then, she gave a faint breath before she started.

"I didn't tell master that I'll be going home... That's not how I left the guild."

Gray's eyed widened a bit, but somehow, he got a grasp of what his friend was about to say. He only gestured himself for her to continue what she had begun.

"Master..." Lucy had once again drew a breath, but this time she inhaled deeply, like she was bracing herself for what could be Gray's reaction. Then she continued.

"Master kicked me out of Fairy tail."
