I was stunned for a moment before I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him passionately back. It was as if the whole Kayla thing didn’t even happen and we should be together again. I pulled back to whisper that my relationship with Jace was a fraud and that it was just to make him jealous. He pushed some hair out of my face to resume kissing me again.

No, I’m just kidding. I’m not that weak.

I really pushed him away with a fake scowl. “I’m with Jace!” I screamed at him.

            “But Peyton, I love you—“

“If you really loved me then you wouldn’t have cheated on me,” And with that last sentence, I walked out of the closet.

I took a shallow breath before practically sprinting down the halls to get to my next class. Jace wasn’t there because he had some meeting but Dillon was so I took a seat with him. He smiled at me once before talking about the party to his friends.

I didn’t focus at all in that class. Halfway through it, Jace walked in and took the seat next to mine but didn’t speak to me. Should I tell him about the surprise kiss? Sean wasn’t there for the entire period so I was in the clear… For now anyways.

When the bell rang, I got my stuff in silence and let Jace walk me to class.

“What’s wrong?” He asked while rubbing circles on my palm.

I bit my lip and shook my head. Why did I feel like I cheated on him? “Can we sit with my friends at lunch today?” I asked him.

He thought about it before shaking his head, “No… I have a special place in mind for today.”

I didn’t say anything as I walked into class and sat next to Lauren, Molly, and some other friends of mine. They chatted away about some show that I didn’t watch and completely ignored the fact that I was there. I didn’t mind though, I just wished that I could get my mind off that stupid kiss…

I brushed my hair out of my face as I gathered my stuff after the class before lunch ended. Jace met me at the door as always but instead of walking to the cafeteria, he led me out the doors of the school and down to the field.

“Where are we going?” I asked him carefully as he led me past some football players that were tackling each other.

“I know this place where we will be having lunch,” He said as he brought me through some tall grass. “I think you’ll like it.”

We cleared the tall grass and I saw a little garden. I smiled and stepped out into the clean cut grass before looking at Jace.

“This is where the garden club does their thing.” He said while looking around in wonder, “I thought we could have a little picnic down here.”

I wrapped my arms around him and he hugged me back for a few seconds before I broke it.

“Jace, this is amazing.” I continued looking at the small, delicate plants while he put down a blanket and got food out that he must’ve skipped class to buy.

“Well you seemed a little down so I thought I’d try to make you happy.” He smiled and patted the seat next to him. I sat down and smoothed out of dress so I wasn’t flashing him.

“Thank you,” I smiled at he handed me my favorite kind of sandwich. I’m surprised that he even knew what it was. I don’t even think Dill knows.

“So what was the matter? You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to though.”

I looked at Jace and I knew that I could trust him. I sighed, “Sean… He pulled me into a closet today and tried to apologize. He also went on about how we should be together again but when I declined, he kissed me.”

Jace didn’t say anything for a few seconds. He finally looked up with his jaw set, “Did you… Uh, did you kiss back?”

I bit my lip, “No, but I wanted to. I know that it’s stupid and I should really hate him but he was my first love…”

His lips flattened out to a thin line and he put his hand over mine. “It’s alright, I know what you mean.”

I gave him a small smile and took a bit of my food. “Thanks Jace, you’re an amazing friend.”

He looked down, “Yeah…” He said quietly.

We ate in a comfortable silence. Jace was so nice and sweet… I really hope this whole fake relationship thing works out great for the both of us meaning I get my revenge and he gets the girl that he wants the advice for.

“Peyton?” I looked up and looked into his light eyes. “You know that you’re a great girl, right?”

I felt myself turning a light pink, “Well…”

“You’re a great person. You shouldn’t stress about guys like Sean or girls like Kayla.”

This time I was the one that averted my eyes down, “I don’t know why she wants me to make me miserable… I never did anything to her!”

“Yeah you did Peyton,” He laughed before gesturing to my body. “You’re prettier than her, she’s jealous.”

My blush darkened, “What’s with all these compliments today?” I laughed.

He shrugged and held up his juice box with a smile, “It’s a good day I guess.”

My smile faltered when I remembered the Sean thing. “Kind of…”

“Come on Pey, be happy. I’m here, that’s definitely a plus.” He winked and I laughed at his cockiness.

“How about I give you another tip? Girls love it when you’re honest with them making cheating a big no-no.”

He was quiet and was awkwardly fiddling with his fingers. I didn’t question him on it and when we were done with our little picnic, we cleaned up before walking to our next class in silence.

He kissed me goodbye and the whole school day went by with no more problems. I didn’t see Sean at all in any of my classes and after school I changed for dance before heading out to the field where we shared it with the soccer players and cheerleaders.

“Girls!” Alyssa clapped when we were all there, stretching. “Since this years homecoming dance donates money to the dance team, we have to do something amazing there. Last year, it sponsored the cheer squad and they did flips in. I think we should have a flash mob.”

A lot of people nodded and some people slapped hands.

We started thinking of songs and once we knew one, we went started making the choreography of it. Everything was going great until I saw something happening over on the soccer field. All of the players were in a huge group, grabbing at something.

“What’s going on?” I asked Tessa as she walked up next to me.

            “I don’t know…”

Suddenly the group moved out of the way to see Jace and Sean fighting. Without thinking, I ran over to them as Dillon tackled Jace to the ground who had just punched Sean in the mouth. Luke grabbed Sean and held his hands behind his back.

“What the hell is going on here?” I yelled as I crossed my arms over my chest in anger. I looked between the two boys who were glaring at each other. “Is anyone going to answer me?”

Jace scrambled up, moving out of Dillon’s grasp and engulfed me in a hug. “He was bragging about how you kissed him back.”

My eyes widened and I pulled away from Jace, turning to Sean in fury. “I’m pretty sure pushing you away does not mean that I kissed you back.”

“That’s what I said!” Jace yelled while jumping to Sean again but the soccer team pushed him away. Sean tried to get out of Luke’s hold but another guy went on him as well.

“Peyton! Just admit that you still have feelings for me so this asshole can leave you alone,” Sean said.

I rolled my eyes, “Oh my gosh, Sean! How many times do I have to say it? It’s over between us! I like Jace now, end of story! In fact he’s better than you in a million different ways.”

He smirked, “So he’s better at sex? You told me after we did it that it was the best moment of your life.”

I froze. That was the one thing that I wanted to forget the most about the relationship. He took my virginity saying that he’d never do anything to hurt me then the next day I caught him with Kayla. I never told anyone about sleeping with him, not even Lauren. It was far too embarrassing to admit that I was that stupid to believe him.

“Peyton…?” I turned around to see a shocked Dillon. “You had sex with him?”

I bit my lip and looked down. His vision of a classy, innocent little sister was gone and it was all because of some jerk.

“I’m sorry…” I whispered as tears welled in my eyes from all the attention.

Dillon’s face turned red and he punched Sean straight in the nose, ruining his face more along with the damage Jace did.

“Boys!” The soccer coach yelled. “Principle, now!”

They dragged Dillon, Sean, and Jace away. My fake and ex boyfriends were heavily bleeding but Sean definitely looked the worst. I turned back to my dance team and they were staring at me.

“I-I… I’m going home…” I said before running off before anyone could say anything. I grabbed my bag and since Jace drove me today, I ran. It wasn’t far, maybe two miles at the most but my mind was going crazy the whole time so I didn’t even notice.

When I got home I immediately ran to my room. The secret that I didn’t want getting out for the sake of my brother finally reached his ears all because of him.

I really hated Sean Gray. There are no feelings whatsoever now.

I ended up taking a short nap but woke up when my door slammed shut. I groggily looked up to see the outlines of both Jace and Dillon walking into my room.

“Hi…” I said quietly, not really looking at them.

“We’re suspended for three days, all of us.” Dillon said meaning them two plus Sean.

“Can I talk to Peyton alone for a bit?” I heard Jace say. Sure enough, the door opened and shut again then the weight on my bed shifted.

I looked up then gasped, “What the heck? Did they even send you to the nurse after the fight?” His whole face had dried blood on it.

“Nope, it was to the principle’s then here.” He said without emotion. I got some first aid from the hallway closet and brought it to help Jace out. It seems that I always have to clean up his injuries.

“Why did you fight him?” I asked while I wiped the blood away. His legs were on either side of me while I was sitting in the middle of them, my legs were on either side on him.

            “For you.”

I didn’t say anything as I cleaned the last of the blood away. Cuts marred his entire face and I slowly started getting bandages ready. I ignored him saying that he wasn’t a baby that needs band-aids as I put them on one by one.

“Why would you get hurt for me?” I asked quietly while I gently pressed a band-aid onto his eyebrow. He winced from the sudden pressure but then relaxed under my touch.

He was quiet for a moment before breathing out a huge gust of air like he was holding it in, “because you’re you.”

I smiled, “You mean I’m you’re best friend’s little sister.”

He grabbed my hand away from his face and stared into my eyes, “I don’t think of you like that anymore.”

“Then how do you think of me?”

He seemed like he was going to talk but Dillon burst into the room, “Okay… I really need to talk to Peyton. You can stay in here if you’d like but you’d need to be quiet.”

“Fine,” Jace said, releasing my hand so I could go back to my work.

Dillon sat on my bed as well as I continued fixing Jace up. He took a deep sigh and ran a hand through his already messed up hair. They both smelled bad from soccer, I guess I’m going to make them shower after this.

“Peyton, my little sister… Let’s have a serious talk.” Dillon stared at me like I was five years old.  “Boys have many urges, they’re going to want to—“

“Dillon?” I interrupted him. “Are you trying to give me the sex talk?”

            “Yes, now let me continue!”

“I already had it when I was ten! I don’t think I need it again.” Jace was laughing hysterically at our little sibling moment but I didn’t even notice as I started turning bright red like my hair.

“Well obviously you need it again because it didn’t work out the first time,” He growled.

My eyes widened and I looked down at Jace’s damaged face. Even though it was bad looking, he was still hot. “That was a mistake…”

“Clearly! I can’t believe that you slept with him Peyton! After all those times that I told you that boys just want sex then they’ll leave you. Why didn’t you listen to Coach Carr off of Mean Girls?  That man’s a legend!”

I rolled my eyes. My brother is in love with that movie, he watches it like every night even though it’s a total chick flick.

“Please Dill, can we not talk about it… I regret it. Is that good enough for you?”

“No.” He collapsed onto my bed and groaned, “I can’t believe my sister isn’t the virgin I always thought she was. I honestly thought you’d never have sex until after your one year anniversary of marriage with someone.”

            “Dillon! I’m not a nun!”

“You should be,” He said, completely serious.

I sighed and put the last bandage on Jace’s face. I nodded in contentment as I slid away from him and faced the two guys that had gotten suspended for me.

“I’m sorry Dillon…” I said while looking down.

“It’s alright. Just one question, are you two—“

“No!” Jace and I said at the same time.

Dillon sighed in relief, “Thank goodness… I would’ve kicked his ass if you were.”

We talked for a bit more until Dillon left us alone again. I smiled and turned to Jace who was staring at me.

            “What?”

“Just thinking back to what Dillon said… I’d think you’d make a great nun.”

I glared at him then started jumping up and down on the bed. “Jace!” I fake moaned, “Faster! It’s so big!”

Like a flash, Dillon was in here and punched Jace in the arm making him groan in pain even though we were completely clothed. Dillon winked at me and walked out of the room.

“Shit!” He groaned. He probably already had a bruise there from Sean and Dill made it even worse.

            “Don’t mess me,” I smirked.
