06 - Food Fight

Also, the song down there is what gave me an idea for this. Listen to it!

The next week of school was the same; the only difference was that we learned more of the dance moves to the song. Alyssa won the captain position, which made everything else for me less awkward. Come on, I didn’t know anyone on the team except her and Tessa! It helped out.
“…5, 6, 7, 8.” Coach Melissa clapped with each number she said. We landed on our knees with our arms to one side. “Good job, I hope to see you guys do that tomorrow that well. Remember, this is our coming out assembly. You all have to bring it so we can land a good spot in the competition.”
Alyssa stood up and walked over to where the coach stood. “We’re doing great guys, we just have to nail those turns.”
We all nodded in agreement before hitting the showers. Once I was dressed, I grabbed my stuff and started walking out the door.
“Going to see your boy toy?” Someone called. I turned around to see a smiling Alyssa.
I bit my lip, “Maybe…”
Tessa laughed, “You two are so cute. He just can’t seem to take his hands off of you.” She sighed dreamily, “I wish I had someone like him.”
I gulped, turning a light pink. “Uh, yeah. It’s really nice.” Wow Peyton, wouldn’t it be easier just to stamp ‘liar’ on your forehead?
“What do you two do when you’re alone?” Alyssa asked, wagging her eyebrows. They probably expected us to kiss and all that jazz… In reality, I just give him more tips on woman.
I tried to play it cool when I answered her questions, “Wouldn’t you like to know?” I gave them a sly smile before stepping down to the soccer field. Today I was wearing a romper, nothing special but some guys wolf-whistled when I took a seat on the bench.
“Cool it you guys,” Jace said with a fake angry look from the field. He flashed me a dazzling smile and I waved back.
“I think he’s whipped,” I heard someone say.
Of course he’s whipped… Whipped on the women’s mind?
Whoa, that was really lame…
I sat down as they continued playing back and forth. Soccer is a fun sport, don’t get me wrong, but just watching can get kind of boring. When they were done, Jace ran over to me and gathered up his stuff.
“Ready to go?” He asked.
I cocked an eyebrow, “Don’t you want to take a shower? You’re all sweaty and gross right now…”
He laughed. Jace’s entire face was glossy with a thin coat of perspiration and I didn’t want to smell him the whole ride home. “I thought you loved my stench,” He said with a nice smile.
I did love his smell, not when he was nasty though. I just gave him a small smile as the rest of his team was coming over. “Not when you just ran around three miles.”
His friends laughed and slapped Jace on the back. “Dude, you have a feisty girl there.” One said.
“Yeah, you jealous?” Jace said back with a smirk.
The guy looked at me greedily “Definitely.”
Dillon came up behind the pervert and smacked him on the back of his head. “I’m her brother and he’s her boyfriend. Be careful what you’re saying.”
The guy just gave me a childish grin but continued looking. Jace stepped in front of me, his hands catching my waist, “Man, ease up.”
“Come on man, just bone her and be done—“
A crunching noise took place but Jace hadn’t moved nor did Dillon. I peeked around my fake boyfriend and saw Sean staring angrily at the guy who was on the ground with his nose bleeding. My eyes widened and I quickly stepped away from Jace to be in front of Sean.
“Calm down,” I said before putting my hands on his chest to push him away.
He stared down at me and the eyes that I had fallen in love with only months ago stared back. They were beautiful but somehow I didn’t find them as mesmerizing as I did when I was a sophomore.
“But the things he said about you…”
“They aren’t your problem.”
He stared down at me as the coach came and screamed at him. “Grey! Office, now!”
He stood there staring at me until someone pushed him away. I breathed out a sigh of relief before turning to Jace again. He looked angry but took my hand, leading me to his car. He was quiet for most of the ride until I broke the silence.
“What’s wrong?” I muttered.
“You just almost blew everything we had been working for this whole week,” He said through clenched teeth. His knuckles were white on the steering wheel and I couldn’t help but think that he was taking this too far.
“Nothing happened.”
“You two almost started making out then and there!”
I bit my lip and looked down at my lap. “No…”
“I thought you want to get revenge on him! That’s why I was brought into this whole plan. I don’t want to be wasting my time if you’re just going to like him again, Peyton.”
“I love him.” I said and Jace turned to look at me. “Even though he cheated on me, I still love him.”
He opened his mouth like he was going to speak but no words came out. “W-what?”
I reverted my gaze again. “Don’t make me repeat it… I swear it’s not something I like.”
He pulled into my driveway and Dillon wasn’t here yet. “I didn’t know… I’m sorry Pey.”
“It’s nothing big…”
He stared at me before pressing a light kiss to my lips. I looked up in surprise.
“No one is around, Jace.”
He smiled, “I know. I felt like you needed that.”
I smiled back and exited the car. I couldn’t help think about how nice that little peck was… It was real unlike all the others we’ve shared.I opened the door for the both of us and we took a seat on the couch.
“So… Show me the routine you’ve been working on.”
I blushed, “No, you have to wait until tomorrow just like everyone else in the school.”
He groaned, “But why?” He whined. “I’ve been on good behavior, don’t I get a treat?”
I laughed at his stubbornness, “Nope.” I said standing up. I walked over to the fridge and looked through everything. I looked back at the couch where Jace was staring at me. “What?”
“Oh nothing… You just look like a housewife right now.”
“Why? Because I’m going to make you a sandwich?” I laughed. He walked over to me and stood behind.
“Of course,” He breathed into my ear. I shivered the slightest bit before pulling out all the ingredients for a classic PB&J.
I took a knife and started putting some peanut butter on one half. Jace put his finger into it before wiping it on my cheek.
“Hey!” I laughed.
He just smirked and put some jelly on two fingers. He put them on both my cheeks. “There, now they’re on your dimples.”
I smirked and grabbed a handful of the peanut better. I put it through his brown hair and he looked at me in surprise.
“Come on Jace… You’re hair looks nuts.” I laughed at my cheesy little joke.
He rolled his eyes, “You’re not funny.”
I cocked an eyebrow before throwing some jelly onto his white shirt.
“I think I’m hilarious.”
That’s what started the food fight. He went into our fridge and started throwing some eggs at me. I ducked for cover with my handy peanut butter and jelly. I smeared some on the floor by his feet and shot up. He ran over to me but slipped in the process making him fall right onto his butt.
I reached into the fridge and pulled out the milk, pouring all the contents on Jace. He grabbed my leg and pulled me down making me slip on all the things on the ground. I fell on top of his body and we stared at each other.
Sean has some amazing eyes but let me tell you, they’re nothing compared to Jace Harley’s. They were this really light blue, almost like the sky but softer.
I heard the door open and a touch laughing take place. “I’m definitely not going to clean this up.”
I quickly got off of Jace and saw Dillon staring at us with a huge smile.
“Do you clean up at all?” I asked knowing the answer.
He snorted, “Of course not, but this time it’s actually not my fault.”
I rolled my eyes as Jace started leaving. “Hey, where do you think you’re going?” I asked.
He shrugged, “I’m leaving.”
“No you’re not, you started this whole mess so I won’t clean it up all by myself.” I handed him a mop. “Get to it.”
We cleaned up the entire kitchen in silence. When we were done, I started going to the stairs but then realized that we had a dilemma… Our carpet was white and we’re covered head to toe in garbage.
“Outside!” I pointed.
“Why?”
“I don’t want to ruin the new carpet, we’re washing off out there.” I pointed to my backyard and started pushing him out there. I turned on the hose and looked over at a now shirtless Jace. My eyes widened a little even though this wasn’t my first time seeing him without a shirt on. He was hot, so hot that if I put this water on him, he’d steam.
“Like what you see?” He said, pointing to his abs.
I blushed, “Sorry, I was just thinking about Channing Tatum. He’s gorgeous.” I turned on that awestruck look as Jace pursed his lips.
I laughed and shot him with the water. He jumped slightly before running to me and taking the hose away. He started having the water pump onto my head and I screamed from the cold.
“Take that back.” He said as he continued to douse me in water.
“No!” I laughed out and he grabbed me so I couldn’t run away.
I was having fun right now. That is something I couldn’t say in the summer. Did I ever think I’d be in the position I am now? Nope. I’m Jace Harley’s fake girlfriend… It’s a fun job. I actually find myself having more fun with him than I ever did with Sean.
He held me to his body as the water rushed down my body. I laughed and I felt him touch my cheek in wonder.”
“I really love your dimples…” He said in a mesmerized voice. I smiled but realized how close we actually were, our bodies were pressed together. I turned bright red and stepped away from him before clearing my throat.
“I think we’re clean…” I mumbled.
Jace shook his head, which made water fly from his hair. “I agree,” He said giving me a cheeky grin.
We walked back inside with huge smiles. Jace was like a big brother to me at times but sometimes there was more. I knew it but I still think that he think nothing more of our fake kisses.
Hell, I don’t know. I don’t know what goes through the mind of a teenage boy.
I don’t even think they do.
