File 21

Kyoya had managed to return (Y/N)'s book to her, making smile, but it was short lived, since she had to go to her doctors appointment. It's been three days, and she's been strangely distant...

"(Y/N)!" Honey called, bounding up to her side as she organized a large set of tea cups, newly shipped, and most still in their package, "Would you like some cake?"

"I'm not much for sweets at the moment..." she said with a sad smile, and continued with her work.

Honey nodded, and bounded back to the waiting group, currently excluding Kyoya.

"You guys are right... she is acting like her old self..."

"As I suspected," Tamaki said, a finger to his chin in thought, "This version of her isn't as reserved though... she at least smiled."

Haruhi thought for a moment.

"It's obviously because of Kyoya, he's become quite distant as well. He's been busy in the pantry all evening."

They all looked to the open door, where Kyoya's silouhette was plainly scene counting inventory.

"He's recounted five times," Mori noted, and the others nodded.

"They're avoiding each other," the twins announced, "But who hates who?"

They watched the two as they worked, Kyoya working on the pantry, and (Y/N) the many cups that she was carefully placing out on display. She held up a bronze one with gold stripes down the sides, and smiled, placing it on a matching saucer, this pair reminded her of Honey and Mori; Mori the strong bronze, while Honey was the heart of gold. There was one more box at the side, and Tamaki smiled, having a wonderful idea.

"Hang on a minute..." Kyoya recounted the number of tea sets, "There's only three sets of two, there should be four."

He looked to the group behind him, and they shrugged, while the only obvious female seemed panicked.

"I-I'm sure I counted correctly! C-count again, there should be four!"

"I'm sorry but there is only three sets here." Kyoya shrugged, and wrote something down on his little black clipboard.

"Bull, there's four," (Y/N) grumbled, and counted them herself, only finding three, as Kyoya said, "I don't get it... Did one of you guys take a set from the table?" she asked, twirling around to the three pairs behind her.

Honey sat on Mori's shoulders shaking his head, the twins leaned on each other back to back shrugging, while Tamaki was kicked in the shin by Haruhi, who said 'no'.

"I don't understand... Oh... I'm sorry, I'll pay for the set-"

"Maybe you just misplaced them," Haruhi said suddenly, "I do it all the time."

"You misplace tea sets?" Honey asked cutely.

"No, I misplace things in general. It helps if I retrace my steps where'd you go?"

It a took a moment for (Y/N) to think as she tapped her foot furiously, much like Thumper from Bambi, or perhaps Judy Hopps from Zootopia. She looked in one direction, then the next, then back to the tea sets.

"I don't recall taking them anywhere..." she stated softly, "But... this particular set I had opened last... so maybe..."

The (H/C) haired girl ran off in a seemingly random direction, going behind one of the curtains that hung over some of the musical instruments. The air she stirred made the thin fabric flutter from time to time, and she came back looking flustered, obviously not finding the tea set.

After searching a couple more places, she asked for help from the others, who were simply standing there, much to her disagreement and frustration. The three teams of two, left together, knowing exactly where the tea set was, but they wanted (Y/N) and Kyoya to find it.

"I suppose we go in gr-"

"We'll find the set faster if we split up," (Y/N) interrupted him, "Do you think you can check the pantry?"

He nodded, and left the girl to search on her own. She gazed at him as he walked on for a moment, before sighing, and going to find the two tea cups somewhere else.

Meanwhile, the twins were spying, Tamaki just behind them.

"Things aren't going well boss," they stated, looking up at him as he poked his head around the corner.

"I know... they're both far to stubborn for their own good..."

"One doesn't know what he feels,"

"The other doesn't know how to act on those feelings,"

"Oh, what a lovely dillema to this story!" Tamaki squealed.

They watched as Kyoya came from the pantry, quite confused as he held a singular tea cup and saucer with a piece of paper. He looked up from the scribbled writing, and went looking for (Y/N).

"(Y/N), I believe... what are you doing?" he asked, looking at... the only thing he could, and that was her bottom half as she scrambled out of the deep box, paper thrown everywhere. She straightened herself up, a soft blush dusting her cheeks.

"I-I was checking to see if I had forgotten it in the box the sets were shipped in..."

"I admire your thinking..." he paused, and refraised the sentence that was about to be said without any thought. He wondered why his mind wandered to places he rarely visited, "But it appears, I have found a clue."

He held out the piece of paper, dark wooden tea cup in hand. (Y/N) looked at the small folded message, and frowned.

"It's a drawing..." she stated the obvious, "A poor drawing, but it's-"

"Obviously a cherry blossom," Kyoya finished for her, "I have a feeling there was more than one lying to you earlier."

The girl nodded, and looked around.

         "I guess the others think-"

"That we are a good match," This time (Y/N) finished the sentence, "But... that is not the case, is it?" her expression became cold, emotionless, her eyes dull as she looked up to the man in front of her.

"I wouldn't think so," Kyoya responded, though he felt a pang of guilt saying so, "Even if there was sentiment between us, my family would not approve."

"Of course," (Y/N) looked back down to the drawing, and held back tears she didn't know would come. The girl took a shaky breath, "I suppose I should go and get the matching tea cup."

"I will accompany you," The black haired boy stated.

"You shouldn't tease them. It's cruel."

Somehow, he felt that she didn't quite mean it in that way...

"Perhaps, but their reactions will be amusing at best."

Nodding, (Y/N) let Kyoya follow, and they soon arrived to the school gardens.

Looking around, Kyoya saw a place, quite familiar.

"Isn't that where I hid from you?" he pointed to a tree.

(Y/N) looked to the spot, then to a familiar bush, and smiled.

"Yes, you weren't a very good hider, perv." She walked off, her step having a bit more bounce to it than before. Kyoya let a small smile escape his lips, watching as she went ahead of him.

The taller of the two lifted some foliage so that it wouldn't hit his female companion in the face as they looked for the missing tea cup, and came upon a small clearing, a tiny table set up. The space was occupied by a heated tea pot, brown, with gold accents, and the missing tea cup, matching the pot, though it was wood, with a gold band around it to match the one in Kyoya's hand.

         |: I'm going to kill them. :| (Y/N) muttered, earning a chuckle from Kyoya.

         |: I'll join you in that endeavor. :| He then sat down on one side of the table, and place the tea cup on the opposite side for (Y/N).

         "What are you doing?"

Kyoya looked to his current companion, as if it was obvious.

"Well, the tea is hot, I was thinking that it would be a shame to waist it."

Finding no fault in this, (Y/N) sat down opposite of him. She reached for the teapot, only for her hand to be stopped by Kyoya's. The girl looked to him on confusion.

"Allow me," he smiled softly, and poured her some of the heated beverage.

The smell was sweet, yet spicy. It reminded the both of them of the sweets (Y/N) often baked, and shared with Kyoya. They both took a sip, and smiled at the flavor, it tasted better then it smelled, the spice really tickling their tongues. (Y/N) hummed at the bliss it brought her, not really caring about the boy that sat with her, who smiled, a full smile, at her delighted hum of satisfaction.

"This is a rare blend," he noted, sniffing it lightly, "I'm surprised they used it. It should only be used for high staff visits, or at least for those from a royal bloodline."

"I'm far from either of those," (Y/N) snickered, and placed her tea down, "Though I can understand why you save it, it's quite tasteful."

She placed her hands in her lap, and Kyoya took another sip, studying her. She had gone from joyful, to melancholy in matter of seconds. She was a puzzle that had so many pieces seemingly unable to fit... or perhaps... these pieces connected her to another puzzle.

"(Y/N)," Kyoya began, "Why is it I can find nothing of your past?" He looked for a reaction, but received nothing accept for her attention, "So far all I have is your name, state, and what you plan to be after high school, but nothing past that." He didn't mention the many things he had observed while she stayed with the Host Club.

"I wouldn't think that to be such a mystery," she answered, "My past wouldn't interest any of you."

         "It interests me."

He said it before he could stop himself, and knew he couldn't go back on it. The way he said it, Kyoya knew (Y/N) would have heard it, it wasn't calculating, or analytical, it was caring.

"Why on Earth would it interest you?" she scoffed, unbelieving of what she was witnessing.

"Because..." he found words failed him, how can he explain this? |: Perhaps it is because you interest me. You're a puzzle, a mystery, with so many clues that elude me I can't seem to make sense of it. With every turn I take you swerve, and with every step I take you leap farther away, as if you run from yourself. You don't talk about your family, nor your friends, I wonder if you even speak to them at all. You leave as if you were never there, but when you are it's hard not to ignore your presence. You can change how people see you so easily, that it's hard too find the personality that is truly you under all of these masks you wear... I want to find the face under those masks, because I feel that it's far more beautiful than what you let us see. :|

Kyoya looked into the cup he held, finding his tea almost cold, though it still had some warmth. (Y/N) made no sound. If it wasn't for the faint shuffling of her body, Kyoya would have thought that she had ran.

         "I apologize... I-"

"No..." the girl interrupted, and he looked up to see her (E/C) eyes sparkling, but with what? What emotion would be expressed by just her eyes alone? "Why did you say that in English?"

"I... don't know..." Kyoya admitted, the words rather foreign on his tongue.

         |: Kyoya... :| she paused, |: I do not reveal my past because... I believe it may disappoint you. I'm not wealthy, nor am I with good fortune, but if I were telling you the truth, I hide it, because of my selfish desire. :|

Her male companion blinked, still trying to figure out what he saw in her eyes, but it changed so quickly once she spoke...

         |: What kind of selfish desire would set itself in someone such as you? :| he asked, truly confused. He knew (Y/N) not to be one to give in to selfishness, at least, that's what he thought.

         |: I knew you searched for anything of my past, so I hid it from you, like a murderer would their victim, but instead of fleeing the crime scene, I Iingered, I still do, as you search for these ellusive clues. You know my favorite color, tea, even sweet and others. Some I let drop, others I had no clue you would notice, but all the same, I keep my hidden deed secret to fulfill a single selfish desire, and that's to keep you around. :|

Her rant did not come with the temporary consequence of tears that dripped, some landing in the cold tea that rippled.

         |: I am sorry... I led you on. :| she sniffed, |: Just ask, and I will let you know. That way you no longer have to keep wandering in circles just to find the smallest of clues... :|

He did not ask, he did not mutter. He stared at the girl, watching as her tears hit the table, a plip, plip that tore through the silent breeze as it made her (H/C) hair wisp across her face. He stood, and sat down next to her, placing a soft hand on her head, forcing her to lean on him. She didn't understand, but obeyed, and cried into the uniform he so often wore.

         |: If you are a murderer, let me be your next victim. :| he said, |: I want to know more about you, but simply asking is far too easy, it would be as if I had caught you red handed. So let me be killed for discovering too much, rather than you being tortured for the information you so easily withhold from me. :|

Her sobs turned into hiccupy laughs, and her tears stained her pearlescent skin.

         "Your family-"

         "Does not have to know."

The two went back after (Y/N) no longer was crying. She was laughing when they entered the abandoned music room, the two tea cups in hand while Kyoya held the table and tea pot. The waiting group looked to them with smiles on their faces, Tamaki's being the widest of them all.

         "WONDERFUL! You found the cups!"

The two glared at him, and the blonde shrunk into a corner. They all decided, that they were a perfect set.

(Oof, been awhile! Haha! Hope this satisfied any with-drawls you all may have had. More to come later on!)
