File 19
"What is this?" he asked the American as she set down a bento box on the desk, the classroom not quite full.
"I thought you might like to try something else that may suit your taste." She explained, "Since you finished off those cookies so fast I assume you liked them very much."
Indeed, Kyoya had finished the medium sized container in only a matter of days, four to be exact.
"Uh, yes, they were quite delicious, but you didn't have to go to all the trouble in making me something else..."
"No trouble really, I enjoy baking from time to time," she smiled, a sight that had become more common after she no longer had to hide from the flying balls of dirt that assailed her so often before, "I didn't really before, due to reasons, and finding my sweet tooth gone for some time ... but now I feel much better, and to be honest, I couldn't imagine my life without some sort of candy, cake or cookie... oh dear... I'm prattling aren't I?"
The girl had also become more talkative, less aloof, and more... happy. Though she was still the same quiet, hardworking girl when organizing, or hosting, or simply working on her studies. She new when the time to joke was, and when the time to be serious was. Quite mature in Kyoya's eyes was she, and full of surprises, surprises that he always seemed to like.
"It is alright," he smiled, |: I like seeing you this way. :| He admitted in English, so no one else would understand.
This made the girl blush, but only enough to lightly shade her cheeks. Saying a short goodbye she left the boy, the mystery of what was inside the bento box still not revealed. Peaking inside, he found a small fork in the first part, and two squares of brownies in the second. He could smell the spice simply rolling off of the dark pieces of baked perfection, and found them still warm.
"How early did she get up to make this?" He wondered, and took off a small edge, finding it moist, but not gooey. Kyoya closed the box as he popped the piece in his mouth, and smiled at it's flavor. (Y/N) took great care into making this, he could tell. Setting the rest in a bag he had set on the floor, the Vice President made a mental note to thank her later, and took out a paper and pen as the Professor made his way into the classroom.

It was lunch time, and (Y/N) had found her way to the Host club's usual spot, saying 'hi' to the occasional acqaintence. She sat on the opposite side of the table, in front of Kyoya, as had become custom.
"Your brownies were devine (Y/N)," He complimented, "I still have half of one if you would like it."
"Oh, no thank you," she declined politely, "I still have an entire pan at home."
"You should invite us over some time!" Hunny cheered from beside Mori, interrupting Kyoya from his question of how early (Y/N) had woken up to bake the treat.
"I would, but my schedule has been fairly busy of late," the exchange student said, "That and my apartment is quite a mess, so this week wouldn't be ideal."
"We could help you clean!" The twins said with a grin, to which (Y/N) declined with an amused smile.
"I have to go... one of the Professors wanted help in the classroom to set up a project."
She left, saying her last 'goodbyes', and Kyoya found that he missed her presence in front of him... it seemed, empty.
"Follow her."
"Pardon?" He turned to Haruhi, who had been sitting next to (Y/N).
"There's obviously a question you didn't ask her, just say that you wanted to offer help." The gender mistaken girl shrugged, and continued to nibble on her sandwich, to which the others of the Host Club looked at with interest.
Deciding to take the the brunette's advice, Kyoya packed up his lunch, eating the last bite of brownie, and went after the girl of interest, having a head start already.
"Kyoya? Is something wrong?" She asked as he jogged up beside her.
"No, but I thought you may be wanting help, and since I don't have any pressing matters at the moment..."
(Y/N) smiled at his offer, gesturing him to follow as a sign she accepted. A few moments of silence passed before Kyoya spoke again.
"I never was able to ask," he started, "How early did you wake up in order to bake those brownies?"
He noticed a small blush, but it disappeared quicker than it appeared as she noted she had gotten up almost two hours earlier. She had made the batter before she went to bed, and baked them the next morning.
"It would have sufficed if they were cold," the boy stated.
"Maybe... but I always thought them better warm." Was (Y/N)'s excuse as she turned a corner into a classroom, a large Rube Goldberg machine being set up.
"Physics?" Kyoya asked.
"Yes, that's why nothing will work correctly," she chuckled, and went to the professor trying to hold up a long pipe as another student tried to tack it to the wall, "Hello Professor, where would you like me to start?"
Without even looking, the struggling man started babbling on about mistakes and fall backs, until he finally reached the task.
"You and your friend start working on the end, the table is lopsided and the dominoes keep falling in the wrong direction."
"You can count it as good as fixed." (Y/N) smiled, and beckoned Kyoya to follow her to the said table.
"I don't think I've met him before..." the boy speculated.
"He's a little odd, and often babbles without realizing, but he's a good teacher, when you can pick out the lesson from his different stories."
"You organize." the upper classman stated, and (Y/N) nodded, a small smile on her face as she lifted up the table.
"Could you put this in the middle and tell me when it's level?"
She handed Kyoya a small level, the yellow liquid formed around a bubble in the middle.
"Do you have this wherever you go?" He asked with interest, setting it on the table, and watched the bubble as it teetered from side to side.
"Almost wherever," the girl admitted, lowering the table a bit, "I only have it when I know I have this class, though sometimes I take it to work with me."
"I thought you stocked a beauty salon?"
"I do, but whoever sets up the displays often has them all lopsided, and I have to fix them."
Kyoya noted that the table was level, and (Y/N) slid a book underneath each leg, adding a second one on the closest left so it wouldn't wobble.
"That should do it... I think the lever needs work though..."
She skipped to a large mechanism, a weight suspended in the air above the highest end of the wooden board.
"What is the purpose of this machine?" Kyoa asked as (Y/N) found that the board was to far from the weight.
"The end result is turning on the fire alarm for tomorrow's drill," she explained, "Of course, not much ends up working, so most likely it'll be activated manually, it's good extra credit though."
"I highly doubt you would need extra credit."
"You're right, but it's better then being bored all the time."
"Are you usually ahead in your classes?" Kyoya knew she was, having been watching her record very closely, but he wanted to hear her response.
"Yes, and it's frustrating. The teachers always seem to think no one will do the work ahead of time, and are unprepared, a reason why I do extra credit whenever I can."
Kyoya picked up a screw that had fallen on the floor, and noted that it didn't seem to connect to anything in this area.
"It probably goes to something else," (Y/N) sighed, taking it from his palm, "The Professor is also very scatter-brained and-"
Before she could finish her thought, a large crash was heard behind them. The cause: an entire wall of the Rube Goldberg machine had fallen down, and only the pipe that had just been put up was still attached to the structure. Sighing, the (H/C) haired girl shook her head as many of the helping students, and some faculty, came to pick up the mess.
"I think the only sturdy part of this entire mechanism is the wobbly table." Kyoya stated, making (Y/N) laugh, a sound he took pride in, knowing it was him who made her make such an enchanting sound.
"You should probably get ready for class," she set the screw on the table with the lever, "The bell will ring in a few minutes."
He looked at the clock just over the door, and found that she was right.
"Indeed." he started to leave, "I thank you for letting me assist."
"I should be thanking you for helping in the first place," she smiled.
Kyoya stopped at the door, and turned to see that she was still smiling, and that he had one more question on his tongue.
"Do you think you'd be free anytime soon? The rest of the host club and I had a plan to take some time off and go to the indoor resort during it's closed hours."
The black haired boy could see her hesitancy, and found an odd, satisfied feeling when she said 'sure'. He explained that a date hadn't been set quite yet, but he was sure that one would be chosen soon.
"Alright... You know what, here."
(Y/N) wrote something down on a scrap of paper, and handed it to Kyoya.
"What is this?" He asked.
"How about you use that smart noggin of yours and find out." She smiled, and skipped away to her next class.
Still confused, Kyoya looked at the small folded sheet, and opened it, finding neatly written digits, and a warning.
Only for business purposes. Perv :)
"What kind of person writes a smiley face after calling someone a pervert?"
"Both you and your twin will find yourselves in a very unpleasant situation if you keep your noses in my personal business."
(What's all this? Guess you'll have to stay tuned to find out! ;P)
