06 | a reunion of sorts

"GOD, I MISSED YOU SILAS."

SNOKE'S SHIP, FIRST ORDER-

 "What are you doing here?"

Kyra sat in silence and shock in that moment, almost surprised why her friend was asking that question. He knew exactly why she was there in that moment, and he knew exactly the reason why she had come. Why would she not come? Why would she not be here, in an instant, to save her best friend? Her family? Why would he even bother asking that question?

"What am I doing here?" She repeated, staring into his eyes in the darkness, barely able to make out his face from the shadows that seemed to loom over them booth. Kyra was at a loss for words. She knew damn well that he probably already knew the answer, which made it all the more pointless. "Si, I- I couldn't lose you like this. Not after everything that I've- that we've been through to get to this point. I couldn't just let you die!"

"Well you should've!" Silas snapped, wrenching his hand away from Kyra's, the woman stumbling back in shock. It was an understatement to say that she was startled by the quick switch from the man that the woman remembered to someone so easily upset and temperamental. Seeing the startled look in Kyra's eyes as she started to slide away from him, Silas sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry Kai. I-I didn't mean to scare you it's just-"

He paused as he struggled for the right words. Silas was never one to sugarcoat things, the two of them knew that. But in that moment, every bone in his body was telling him to lie to his best friend, to hide the truth of the horrors that she was going to experience now that she was back inside of the First Order with him. Because from what he had heard- the whispers through the vents and the things that he had seen- Silas was more scared for his friend's life than his own.

"Their plans? I have no clue what they want from you. Or why they want you back so desperately, for that matter. The First Order never does this type of thing." He acknowledged the obvious, seeing Kyra roll her eyes at the blatant fact. "Kyra- if they're doing it? They're doing it for a reason." Silas warned, trying to stop himself from thinking of all of the horrible things that had happened to him under capture. He wasn't sure of much in that moment, but he was sure of one thing- whatever they did to him was most certainly nothing in comparison to what they were going to do with her.

Sucking in a quick breath, Kyra gave a sigh as she muttered her next words, knowing that Silas wasn't going to like a bit of what he was about to hear. "Yeah, well, I know why. And the reason isn't exactly what you'd expect." She sighed, turning so that her back was against the wall, resting her head against the cell's wall for support, her face tilted towards the ceiling. "I'm Skywalker's kid."

"Skywalker? As in, Master Jedi Luke Skywalker that's been missing for almost two decades Luke Skywalker?"

A small glare from Kyra told Silas everything that he needed to know, the fear and frustration in her eyes obvious to what she was distressed about. "Okay, noted. And you've... talked to him about this?" Silas questioned carefully, seeing Kyra's face fall as he brought up the question, making him almost instantly regret the choice.

"He doesn't even know I exist." Kyra scoffed, her handcuffed hands plopping in her lap as she groaned in exasperation. "And even though we found the map to Skywalker and everything-" She paused, seeing the shock on Silas's face as she so casually mentioned Skywalker's location. "Oh. Right. That happened. Uh- it happened right after the destruction of Star Killer base and after I got Fox out of this hellhole." A look of pity flashed over her face before she could continue. "I'm sorry I couldn't get you out either."

"Don't apologize." Silas reached out his hand, placing it tenderly on Kyra's knee from where he sat in the cell, the familiar motion somewhat soothing to her. It reminded her of an older brother that she never had in some ways. "I would've rather it been him than me. Fox was a lot more of a troublemaker anyways." The man chuckled, shaking his head as he thought about his former trooper counterpart, who always seemed to be the one encouraging Kyra's wild ideas and always getting them into more trouble than they asked for. "But anyways, you were talking about the map?"

"Oh." Kyra stopped her rambling, her mind falling back onto the course that she had started on. In the back of her mind, there was something that was reminding her about how much she had missed the man in the past months. He was always the one to keep her in check, to keep her on task and on course.

And in that moment, she needed that more than ever.

"Right. Uh- So the map. We found his location, and I thought everything would be okay. There's this kid- she's maybe a couple years younger than me- twenty at most, and we sent her on the mission to find him." Kyra smiled softly at the thought of Rey, the young woman's spirit always something that she valued during her limited time with the woman.

"Why her?"

"Oh, she's uh- how do you say it? A Force wielder?" Kyra scrunched her nose, her eyes squeezing shut as she tried to think of the right word, waving her hand around the best that she could while handcuffed. A sudden wave of exhaustion overwhelming her as she sat, the young woman disregarding it as just an adrenaline crash.

Worse had happened to her before.

"I don't know. But she's like how the Jedi used to be. Resistance figured it'd be better to send her as a welcoming party and not his daughter that looks like his dead lover. Which was also a decision on my part, I guess." The woman shrugged, giving a nonchalant look over at Silas.

"And how did that go?" Her friend asked, trying to continue the conversation, making up for all of the lost time that he had missed inside of the First Order and trapped inside of a cell. Silas felt so lost, like he had been swept up into a river current and flushed away while his friend clung onto rocks in the middle of the waters for dear life. "Does he know about you? Is he willing to come back and defeat the First Order?"

In that moment, all of the frustration about her father came rushing back into Kyra, all of the pent up rage and anger about the whole situation rising back into her. "No. And he still has no knowledge of me." She spat, quickly rising up from her seated position, becoming heated as she tried her best to attempt to throw her hand out in frustration. "That's the thing. It had been weeks before I came here, and every day he said he wouldn't come back. I don't know why he just won't come back but-"

The woman stopped, the exhaustion that she had felt moments earlier catching up to her. The energy that her frustration gave her wore out, a familiar tiredness that she had never felt before creep into her bones. The whole world began to grow a little fuzzy, the room starting to spin as she stumbled back against the wall, her stomach doing somersaults as her body gave out on her.

"Kai!" Silas quickly rushed to her side, gently helping her back down onto the ground as he heard a small groan of pain (probably from her body slamming into the wall) escape Kyra's lips. "What the hell was that? Are you-"

"Okay?" Kyra let out a small laugh as she closed her eyes, trying to blink out all of the fuzziness that was in her eyes. "Honestly? Probably all of this just catching up to me. Adrenaline crash, getting choked out by my cousin, power suppressant-"

"Power suppressant? They actually figured out a way to stop your powers?" Silas questioned, settling to the ground beside her with a worried look in his eyes (not that Kyra could see it, of course. "That is grounds for no good."

"Yeah. Another added bonus of what's happened in the last three months. Deftrine figured out how to suppress whatever it is that I have, Ren sliced my ear off-"

"What?!"

"And uh, well, I guess they've stepped up whatever game they had in the power suppressant territory. Because this feels like I've just been run over with a truck, bathed in freezing cold river water from Sorgan, and then spit out of the mouth of a Rathar."

"That's... oddly descriptive." Silas commented, unsure of what else to say, earning a small laugh out of Kyra as she cracked one eye open to look at her friend before the young woman wincing again. The smile that had softly formed on his face fell in an instant,

"You're telling me. Whatever this is- whatever is messing around with me, I just want it to stop." Kyra's voice cracked, squeezing her eyes shut again. All she could feel was the warm and calloused touch of Silas's hands, bringing her head to rest in his lap, the man realizing that she'd be much more comfortable resting against him than the floor.

"Don't worry kid, I'll make sure that it does somehow. Just get some sleep for now, okay?" Silas murmured reassuringly, the question more of a soft demand than a suggestion. The man watched as Kyra winced as her stomach flipped inside out again, placing one of his hands on the top of her head. Silas watched as his friend (and younger sister) relaxed under his touch, her eyes finally fluttering softly, her breaths evening out as Kyra began to calm, finding solace and the ability to sleep in his company.

"I'll make sure that you get out of this- no matter what."
