January 20th, 1979
My entire body felt like ice as I rushed back into the castle. Snowflakes covered my hair and my clothes. Jack made us have quidditch practice early this morning, despite the ongoing blizzard.
With my cheeks red from the cold and wind, I entered the Great Hall for breakfast. Despite it being a Saturday morning, the hall was filled with students. I spotted a familiar face at the Slytherin table, who smirked at my state of near hypothermia.
I sat down at the Gryffindor table beside Maggie, across from Emmeline and Samuel.
"Merlin, what happened to you?" Maggie asked, pointing at my red face.
I grabbed a hot tea, trying to warm my hands through the mug.
"Quidditch practice happened," I said, "Jack refused to cancel practice because of the blizzard, and we can't wear coats on our brooms because you get tangled and it throws you off."
Sam laughed, "I would bet a galleon that he said something along the line of 'it's barely even snowing'."
Emmeline raised an eyebrow, "I think you have an icicle on your eyelash."
I shook my head. "He said that exact same thing-, and it wouldn't surprise me."
Soon after I finished loading my plate with hot food, Jack and Thomas came into the Great Hall, the latter sitting on the other side of me.
"Jack, you are my least favorite person at the moment," I commented, throwing a blueberry at him.
It hit him in the eye, and he gave me the middle finger.
"You won't hate me when we win the cup again this year."
Thomas frowned, "Sorry mate, but I'm not getting frostbite just so that we can win the cup."
Jack rolled his eyes. "You two have no dedication to the sport."
"We're still having that party tonight, right?" Maggie asked.
Samuel nodded, "Yeah, I've got all the booze."
"As Head Girl," I started, "I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear that."
Emmeline cleared her throat, "Oh, I invited some people from other house's."
"So did I," Jack said.
"Me too," Thomas added.
I shook my head, "We cannot have a repeat of the last party at Gryffindor Tower."
Sam raised his hands in defense. "Hey, I'm not the one who started the fire, I'm pretty sure it was Dirk Cresswell."
"Yes, please, no fires tonight," Thomas interjected. "It singed off my eyebrows."
Maggie laughed, "That was pretty funny though."

I had already been drinking by the time he got there. He came with a group of his friends, but they all quickly went their separate ways upon their arrival.
"Did you invite Evan?" I asked Emmeline while pouring myself a third drink.
She laughed quietly, "Yeah, I did."
"Hello ladies," Evan chimed, leaning against the table between Emmeline and I.
I took a sip of my drink. "Speak of the devil."
"Oh, come on, I'd hardly say that he's the devil, maybe just an accomplice."
I made eye contact with Regulus, who was now standing beside me. His hair was slightly messy, brushing across his brow bone.
He looked me up and down, "You look nice."
"Thanks," I said, "So do you."
Regulus smirked before reaching over me to grab the firewhiskey. He glanced up at me as he poured it into a cup.
I downed the rest of my drink.
"See you around," I said, brushing my hand against his before walking away.
Jack and Thomas were standing by the window, passing a joint back and forth. I joined the two boys, grabbing the lit joint from Jack.
I took a hit, the smoke filling my lungs. I exhaled in the direction of the open window and handed the joint back to Jack.
"Ah, fun Meredith is making an appearance tonight," Jack teased, taking another hit from the joint.
I hit him in the arm, making him cough.
"Hey, I'm always fun," I defended, "I'm just getting fucked up tonight."
Jack handed me the joint, and I took another hit, flicking the ashes onto the window sill.
"Pass me that, I'm trying to get fucked up tonight too," Thomas said, reaching for the joint.
Jack laughed, "Wow, our model student's right here."
I handed Thomas the joint, laughing quietly.
Thomas grinned, "Yeah, I'm pretty sure that our Head Boy is at the drink's table with a bottle of firewhiskey."
I glanced back over at the table to see Regulus, standing with a cup full of firewhiskey, talking to Barty and Emma.
"Hey, we could both shut this party down if we wanted," I joked. "I have so much power, you don't even know."
"I know, I'm actually quite jealous, all I can do is give detention," Thomas laughed, putting the joint out on the window sill and grabbing a pack of cigarettes from his back pocket.
Jack smirked, "You know, smoking kills."
"Yeah, I might've heard that," Thomas replied.
"Hand me one, will ya?"

I had stumbled out of the party to get some fresh air. The common room was far too hot and I was far too drunk.
"McKinnon?"
I turned around to see Regulus sitting on a window sill on the opposite side of the corridor.
He got up from the window sill as I walked over, trying to look as sober as possible.
I practically ran into him, wrapping my arms around his neck. Regulus grabbed onto me, resting his hands on my waist.
"Hi," I said, gazing up at him.
Regulus smiled, "Hi. Are you drunk?"
I shrugged, "Not as much as I want to be. I'm just having fun. Are you drunk?"
"No, but I'm definitely not sober," He replied.
I stared at him, examining every inch of his face. His pale skin, the curve of his jaw, the color of his eyes. He looks like a statue sometimes.
"You're so pretty," I whispered. "I hope that doesn't offend you, I just think you're a very pretty person."
Regulus laughed quietly, "And I think you're pretty as well."
I stood on my tiptoes and pressed my lips against his. He hesitantly kissed me back, his hands resting softly on my waist. He tasted of firewhiskey and mint toothpaste, and smelled like expensive cologne.
I held either side of his face, kissing him harder.
When we broke apart for air, our foreheads rested against each other.
The portrait hole opened and a couple of Hufflepuff's stumbled into the hallway, kissing and grabbing each other's clothes as they stumbled into the nearest broom closet.
"Come on, let's go somewhere more private," I suggested, running my hand through Regulus's hair.
I leaned up to kiss him again.
He didn't kiss me back and pulled away, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Come on, you didn't have any problem doing stuff with me before Christmas," I slurred, frowning at him.
Regulus smiled softly at me. "We can't," He whispered, brushing my hair out of my face.
"Why not?" I asked, looking into his eyes. "I'm not actually drunk and neither are you."
"I know, I know," Regulus said.
I frowned, "Then what's the problem?"
"I want you to remember the first time that I fuck you," He whispered, pressing a quick kiss against my neck.
It's funny how one quick kiss from him could light my body on fire.
Regulus backed away from me. "Another time, Meredith."
"Another time," I echoed, trying not to sound disappointed.
