seven

The music coming from the Slytherin common room echoed throughout the dungeon. The closer you got, the louder the music became.

Standing guard outside the common room was none other than Evan Rosier.

"Nice to see you ladies," Evan cheered, "I see you brought your guard dogs." He gestured to Jack, Thomas, and Sam, who were walking close behind Maggie, Emmeline, and me.

Maggie raised an eyebrow at the sandy-haired boy. "Well are you gonna let us in, Rosier?" She asked.

"Oh, the redhead's feisty tonight," Evan teased, stepping aside to let us into the common room.

The music immediately got louder as we set foot into the Slytherin's lair.

I had only been in the Slytherin common room a handful of times throughout the past seven years.

The Slytherin common room was a long, underground room with rough stone walls and ceiling. Greenish lamps hung from the ceiling on chains, complimenting the black leather couches and carefully carved armchairs. Past the windows, you could see into the Black Lake, which looked eerily green in the dim light of the room.

Emmeline slipped away, towards the drink table, and returned with six shots of firewhiskey.

I took mine and we all cheered before I easily took the shot, throwing my head back.

When I set the shot glass down, I felt a pair of eyes on me from across the room.

I met Regulus Black's stormy gray eyes. His eyes were glassed over, his nose and cheeks pink. He held a cup of what looked like whiskey in his hand as Lucinda Talkalot whispered something into his ear.

Lucinda was gorgeous, there was no doubt about it. Dark brown skin, curly black hair, and a body that could make every guy want her and every girl want to be her. But, she was a mean person.

She was leaning against Regulus, her hand resting on his bicep, trying to get his attention.

Regulus pushed her off of him, saying something that I couldn't make out, and disappeared to somewhere else in the common room.

I was half expecting her to follow him, but she only stalked off in the other direction, trying to find someone that would give her attention.

"Hey, what're you staring at?" Maggie asked, pressing another shot into my hand.

I took the shot, the liquid burning my throat as I spoke. "Oh, nothing," I lied, "Let's go dance or something."

The song had changed, and now the voice of Rick James played loudly throughout the common room.

She's a very kinky girl

The kind you don't take home to mother

Emmeline grabbed my hand, dragging me onto the 'dance floor', and into the mosh pit of bodies.

She will never let your spirits down

Once you get her off the street, oh girl

Maggie pleaded to the guys to come dance, and after some resistance, they caved and joined us.

I danced against Jack, trying to clear my mind and focus on the alcohol that was currently working its way through my system.

Once the song ended, my mind was still working overtime.

"Hey, I'm going to get another drink," I said to Emmeline, having to yell slightly so that she could hear me over the music.

Emmeline yelled back, "Okay!"

I pushed through the crowd of people, bumping into a couple that looked like they were practically shagging in the middle of the common room on my way to the drink table.

I didn't even notice as I walked right into someone. Their hand rested on my hip, steadying me.

"Shit-, sorry," I said, looking up.

Regulus Black. Great.

"Watch where you're going, McKinnon," Regulus said, "You almost made me spill my drink."

I brushed past him, pouring myself another shot. He watched me intently as I took it, setting the glass back down on the table and refilling it.

"You're going to have a wicked hangover," He pointed out.

I shrugged, "So will you, by the looks of it."

Regulus raised his cup, "I, for one, am perfectly sober."

"Oh yeah?" I teased. "I bet you are."

I took my fourth shot of the night as Regulus continued to watch me.

"Are you just going to stare?" I asked.

Regulus smirked, "I like that little dress you've got on."

I looked down at my outfit.

A small black dress that was low-cut, showing the perfect amount of cleavage. It went just above my upper thighs, hugging my body in all of the right places. I wore white boots with it, the ones that Marlene got me for my seventeenth birthday last year.

"It's a shame that I don't dress up just for you then, Black," I replied, grinning sarcastically at him.

The song changed, switching to Abba, Sirius, Lily, and Marlene's favorite band.

If you change your mind

I'm the first in line

Regulus rolled his eyes, shaking his head.

Honey, I'm still free

Take a chance on me

"You wish that you had a chance with me," Regulus said, stepping closer to me.

I shook my head, "Last time I checked, that was all in your dreams."

If you need me, let me know

Gonna be around

"Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't," Regulus said seriously. "Enjoy the party, Meredith."

Just as quickly as he had appeared, he was gone, disappearing back into the crowd of people.

I stood for a second, debating, before pouring myself another shot and downing it in one go. I left the glass on the table, heading back towards my friends, who were currently singing the rest of the song very loudly and very off-tune.

I spotted Pandora and Xenophilius sitting on one of the leather couches, deep in conversation. Pandora was rambling on about something, and Xenophilius was listening intently, hanging on to every single word that came out of her mouth.

When I returned to my friends, Emmeline and Maggie were clinging to each other, screaming the song to each other.

The alcohol had kicked in, and the room was starting to blur, my heart rate slowing down.

Emmeline pulled me in with them, leaning against my shoulder as we danced to the music.

The song switched, and KISS came on, which made a lot of people excited. Even the guys were starting to dance along as the song started.

I was made for lovin' you baby

You were made for lovin' me

I felt a familiar pair of eyes on me for the third time tonight.

Pulling away from Maggie and Emmeline, I grabbed Jack by the collar of his shirt, making him dance with me.

Jack pulled my body closer to his as we danced, his hands on my hips.

I made eye contact with Regulus as I danced against Jack, moving my hips against his.

He kept staring.

The alcohol in my system was making me lose what little inhibitions I had. "Kiss me?" I asked, wrapping my hands around Jack's neck.

"What?" He asked, leaning in closer.

"Kiss me."

The blonde-haired boy didn't waste any time. His lips met mine, enveloping me into a passionate kiss. I kissed him back, running my hand through his hair as he gripped my waist.

When we broke apart, I made eye contact with Regulus over his shoulder.

He didn't look pleased as he stormed out of the party, heading up the stairs to his dormitory.
