After the match and the life-changing offer, I ran into the locker room and told everyone immediately, not being able to contain my excitement. I think this is the most excited I've ever been in my entire life.
The whole team congratulated me, and Jack hugged me so tightly that my feet were picked off the ground as he told me how proud he was of me.
He said, "Now we're both going to be professional quidditch players."
Then I reminded him that now I could kick his arse in the big leagues since we wouldn't be playing together anymore.
Thomas told me to give him hell when we go up against each other.
I couldn't wait to write to Marlene and tell her. She's going to be excited. My parents are also going to be extremely happy for me. They couldn't make it to any of my matches this year, but I know that they wanted to be there cheering me on.
I wanted to tell Regulus so badly.
We would be having a victory party tonight so I wouldn't see him tonight. I quickly showered and got changed before heading back towards the castle, hoping to find him on the way.
Sure enough, Regulus was in the courtyard, leaned up against the stone wall, waiting for me. His hair was damp, dark curls brushing against his forehead. Regulus smiled when we saw me, despite the fact that his team just lost the match.
"You waited for me," I pointed out, standing in front of him.
Regulus smiled, "I did." He reached up and brushed my damp hair out of my face, his fingers lingering just above my cheek.
"I'm sorry that you lost," I said.
"I'm not," Regulus replied. "You guys played amazing, especially you."
"Thank you," I grinned. "Now, I have something to tell you. Something extremely important."
Regulus raised an eyebrow and gave me an odd look. I could only imagine what he was thinking right now.
"So this lady came up to me after the match, and she's a recruiter for the Holyhead Harpies," I explained. "They want me to start training with them to be their new beater in August."
Regulus had a shocked expression on his face before he hugged me tightly, his long arms wrapped around my waist.
"Merlin, that's amazing, Meredith!" He exclaimed. "Congratulations, love."
I hugged him back, my arms wrapped around his neck. Because of our height difference, I was standing on my tiptoes while Regulus leaned into my body, his head resting against my shoulder.
"Thank you, I'm so excited-, I don't even think I've fully processed it," I said. "But I wanted you to be the first person I told other than my team."
Regulus pulled away and cupped my face with his hands.
"I'm so happy for you, I hope you know that."
I nodded, fighting back a smile.
Regulus kissed me on the lips, his hands resting on either side of my face. He pulled away, kissing me on the forehead, then my cheek, my other cheek, and the tip of my nose, before finally kissing me properly again.
When we broke apart, both of us were grinning, cheeks tinted red.
"So you're going to have a job that you love," Regulus pointed out. "What's next?"
I shrugged, "Maybe I'll get a dog while I'm at it."
Regulus smirked, giving me a quick kiss on the lips.
Moments like these were nice. When it was all happiness and smiles. We only have two weeks left in the protection of Hogwarts, so it's hard to tell how much longer all of this smiling and being sickeningly happy will last.

June 6th, 1979
We're halfway through our last week at Hogwarts, which means that I'm halfway through my N.E.W.T.'s. I don't think I've ever been this sleep deprived in my life. I feel like I'm running on lukewarm tea and biscuits.
When I wrote to my family to tell them about the Harpies, my mum and dad wrote back telling me how proud they were of me and how excited they are to see me when I come home on Saturday. Marlene sent me a Howler that consisted of her yelling about how proud she is. James and Sirius were in the background interjecting with declarations of how proud they were. The Howler ended with Lily yelling at James to get off of the coffee table. I got the Howler at breakfast so the entirety of Hogwarts got to hear that.
I've been spending a lot more time with Regulus outside of class and Head Boy and Girl related duties.
Today, the sun is out, shining down on the grounds of the castle.
Regulus and I are sitting underneath a tree near the Black Lake, surrounded by textbooks for our Potions exam tomorrow. It was lunchtime and there was nobody around. We were doing a surprisingly good job getting some studying done.
"Are you going to come see me this summer?" I asked, glancing up from the Potions textbook in my lap.
Regulus sat up and propped himself on his elbows, dropping his notes beside him.
"I was planning on it," Regulus answered. "Are you going to write to me this summer?"
I smiled, "I'll write to you everyday if that's what you would like."
He smiled back at me, and we both fell silent. I had just turned my attention back to my textbook when Regulus spoke.
"Do you ever want to get married someday?" He asked.
I sat my textbook down again.
"To you? Or just in general?"
"In general."
I sighed, "I don't know, maybe."
"And to me?"
"Reg, I just came to terms with my feelings for you, so if you're trying to propose to me or something like that I will push you into the Black Lake."
Regulus laughed, holding his hands up in defense.
"I'm not-, I swear to Merlin I'm not," Regulus said, trying not to laugh.
I rolled my eyes at him, picking his notes up and reading over them. Regulus shook his head and started reading from my open textbook.
"Maybe one day," I muttered.
Regulus raised his eyebrows.
"What'd you say?" He teased. "Couldn't hear you, angel."
I nudged his leg with mine. "You heard me, and I'm not saying it again," I replied, trying to hide my smirk.
"Aw you love me," Regulus teased.
I rolled my eyes at him and tapped the open textbook beside him. "We're supposed to be studying," I said.
Regulus sighed and picked back up the textbook.
We got through about five minutes of silent studying before I interrupted it.
"Do you have any plans for your birthday?" I asked.
"Nope," Regulus answered.
I smiled, "Can I come see you then? Since it's your eighteenth birthday."
"I would love that, Meredith," He answered. "I don't want you anywhere near Grimmauld Place-, because of my family, but I would love to see you."
"Good, I'm glad," I said, grinning at him.
Regulus's head was resting against my knee as he laid in the grass, both of us hidden by the tree. I brushed his hair out of his face and leaned down to kiss him. He kissed me back, smiling against my lips.
When we broke apart, Regulus just shook his head at me.
"I thought we were supposed to be studying," He joked.
"Oh, shut up," I replied.
"Make me."
