7. Birthday Privileges
I carefully untangled myself from Oli, making sure not to wake her up, kissed her forehead and made my way to the restroom after making sure that Aaron was in his crib as well.
Yesterday was hectic but the worst part was seeing Oli cry.
After telling me how Anna let her wander off on her own, which this kid was obsessed with, she promised her that she would meet her in the clothing session. The kid made it back but with two weirdly shady men. I grew tense as to where this was going but as if Anna could sense it she told me they seemed nice and decent enough and that they stayed with her until Sam came.
She told me how suddenly Oli started crying and wouldn't stop it. She hadn't eaten anything nor have she talked to anyone. Her excuse was she would only talk to me. I thanked Anna and Sam with her and they just waved me off, with a warning to pick up my call next time.
After the two left I made my way to Oli's room. She was crying- no, not crying, she was sobbing. I quickly went over to her and calmed her down.
Her every cry pierced my heart it reminded me of the young girl who was continuously crying for days after her mother died.
"What happened?"
"I- I saw this c- cute couple, Ma. And they w- were so happy." She broke down again before calming down and continuing. "They had a baby and t- they still looked h- ha- happy. Why couldn't my dad be hap- content with me? Why did she died? Why?"
She looked at me as I barely held myself from bawling my eyes out. "Is t- there something wrong wi- with me? Don't I-"
I grabbed her face. "No! Don't say that."
"- deserve to be happy?" She asked me her eyes filled with hurt.
"Olivia, baby no. You deserve to be happy-"
"You are just s- saying that." I quickly made her look in my eyes.
"I am not."
"You are ly-"
"Olivia Ross Violet! Stop it. I am not lying or just saying it. You are one of the sweetest thing. You don't deserve this. You deserve the best." I meant every word I said. "It isn't your fault that your dad is a prick or that she died. But look at it this way, I wouldn't have had you and you wouldn't have me if everything didn't go this way. I know I might sound selfish, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I got you and I won't change it."
And after that she sobbed into my shoulder. I took her in my room and laid her down on my bed. After she finally slept, I got up and checked on Aaron and kissed his forhead. I changed into more comfortable clothes and brushed my teeth before finally lying down and sleeping.
I made my way out of the room quietly and down towards the kitchen. I rushed towards the fridge trying to find something, anything.
Ugh, I hate I don't know how to cook or know someone who does.
Wait- Nah, I just met the guy. I can't ask him to. I will just make something.
I wandered around the kitchen aimlessly for one more moment. Then, considering that I didn't want my kids to die just yet, especially on Oli's birthday. I made the decision.
Alright, I do admit it might not be the best decision. But on her birthday, I can't serve my half burned eggs and bread - oh who am I kidding, not half, nah, but full burned eggs and burned.
With that thought I made my way out of my house and across the street, towards his house. I pressed down on the bell rethinking my decision.
A moment passed, then two, then three...
I was about to turn around, but as if he could read my thoughts, the door opened.
And it was opened by a person continuously grumbling something until he saw that he opened the door to me.
"Um, don't get me wrong, I like that um- What are you doing here again?" I nervously chuckled at a half naked Mason.
"I was just- Wow, is that a six pack?" I quickly shut my mouth and slapped my forhead, my face turning red.
I finally looked up, still embarrassed, to lock eyes with a very amused looking Mason. "You were here to know if this is a six pack? Well, yes it is." He chuckled.
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up!"
"Aw, aren't you too cute? Your cheeks look so cute." He poked my cheek. If my cheeks were burning before they were definitely flaming right now.
"I am not here for- Can you stop smirking? And I am here to ask for your help. Today is my kid's birthday and I can't cook but I wanna give her the best breakfast. So, can you maybe help?" I asked fidgeting with my shirt and he actually stopped smirking.
"Sure, of course. Just one question!"
I grinned. "Shoot!"
His smirk came back. "Should I wear any sort of shirt? I mean only if-"
"Ugh, shut up. And yes, put on some clothes. I will wait for you at my house." I practically ran away to my house, not waiting for his reply.

I was actually quite mesmerized by how fast he could cook and how good it smelled and looked.
Maybe I could take one or two bi-
No Vivi! Bad Vivi, this is for Oli.
With great difficulty, I looked away from the food and got up to make Aaron's bottle of milk.
"You don't have to go to work?"
"Nah, I took an off. You?"
"Not to the cafe. But I am taking my friend's shift at some bookstore."
I just hummed and we continued working in silence. "Almost done." He told me placing on the tray.
"Yayy. Also, thank you Mason."
He smiled at me and opened his mouth but before he could say anything we both heard a pair of soft steps coming down the stairs.
My eyes widened.
Shoot!
Why is she up so early? I wanted to do that breakfast in bed thingy.
"Have you seen my locket? That infinity one! I can't find it-"
She walked in and frowned at the stranger. "Who are you?" She looked around the kitchen her eyes landing on me and relaxing a bit.
"Happy birthday!" I grinned at her. "Also, your locket is in your room somewhere. I will find it later. And now this you see is my friend." My grinned widened, I finally found myself a chef.
"Oh, okay." My grin fell slightly. She didn't look excited by my discovery.
"Well, you woke up too early. I was about to come to your room and do that breakfast in bed, birthday privileges thing that parents do."
"It's fine. I don't want it anyway."
"Oh well you are eating it anyways. Today is your birthday and you hav-"
"Mom, I am not in the mood to eat takeout."
My grin widened again. "There is no takeout-"
"Then, I am definitely not eating it. I don't want to eat burned stuff on my birthday."
This child!
I rolled my eyes. "Well, I didn't cook it either. I-"
"Then who did?" She furrowed her eyebrows.
"If you would let me talk you would have already found out." I walked over to her, still grinning, and grabbed her hands. "I finally found myself a chef. I finally found a useful friend. Tadada! Here, I present to you," I pointed my jazz hands in Mason's direction. "Mason Logan. My very own personal chef."
Mason smiled at Oli but still giving me a slightly amused look. Oli, however, gave me a slightly worried look.
"Oh, come on. Just eat your breakfast. You will love it." I picked her up and placed her on a kitchen stool.
"You said that the first time you made me breakfast. And I certainly didn't love it or even like it." I picked up the tray from the other end of the kitchen and placed it in front of her. "Hmm... That does kinda smell good."
I smirked. "Told you."
She grabbed the hot chocolate and took a sip. "Wow, that's amazing." She started eating everything on the tray.
I looked sideways, as she was drinking her hot chocolate, my hand sneakily trying to get something, anything, to eat from the tray of all the goodies. But Oli smacked my hand away.
"Mine! Birthday privileges, remember?"
Dear silent readers, I love you all and thank you for giving this books your valuable time. I would really appreciate it if you weren't so silent but one can't get everything they want, right?
Anyways, someone told me that it wasn't fair that we got to read Valentino's pov and didn't get Mason's pov. So, you will get his pov as well, just not right now.
Now do comment and vote if you think the book deserves it.
