Act 7 Scene 2

I was sitting at my vanity, I had taken off my crown and began to take my hair down from the updo Nefertari had done on me. Then I heard a knock on the door, I almost called out for Nefertari to answer it before I remembered I had dismissed her for the night.

I walked over and opened the door.

"Good evening Laslow," I greeted.

"Good evening to you as well your highness," he said with a bow. "King Xander has requested your presence," what could Xander want with me at this hour in the evening? Everyone is turning in for the night.

I followed Laslow down the hall to Xander's room. "You can go on in, he should be on his balcony waiting for you," he said before he left. As I looked to the door knob I realized what I was wearing. I was in my night dress and a silk robe, I can't believe Xander is about to see me like this. I stared at the door knob before grasping it and opening the door.

Xander's room was simple for someone of his title, a bed similar to the one in my room, a desk two doors that I assumed led to a closet and bathroom respectively along with some bookshelves and places to sit. His armour was discarded off to the side.

One of the balcony doors were open and the curtain flickered in the wind. Stepping out onto the balcony Xander was leaning on the railing looking out into the night sky.

"Your majesty," I said but then I quickly remembered our previous conversation. "I mean, Xander, you wanted to see me." I leaned my side on the railing and Xander turned to face me.

"Yes, I did. I wanted to talk to you about something," couldn't he wait until morning  to discuss something with me, I'm sure it's just about the rebuilding, which isn't going anywhere between right now and tomorrow.

"Of course, tell me what's on your mind," I placed an encouraging hand on his arm.

"But first do forgive me, when it comes to speeches on the battlefield or addressing a nation I am quite good, however I'm not that good at talking about the topic I wish to tell you about," just what did I just get myself involved with. "This might be a bit embarrassing but I've rehearsed what I've wished to say, so if you could just listen and not interrupt me until I'm finished."

"Alright, I'm here to listen Xander," I gave him a warm smile. After exhaling Xander began to speak.

"I know we haven't known each other that long, but I feel like I've known you forever. You understand me better than anyone else has. When it was announced that you were going to marry my father it made me sick to think about it. Obviously because that should've never happened, but later it was because I was attracted to you," my heart skipped a beat but I didn't say anything. "When we would be at camp during the war I would find my feet carrying themselves to you. You were a mystery and I wanted to solve you. I wanted to spend every moment with you, I wanted to know all about you. I wanted to see the real you, not the perfect princess but the smart, sarcastic, rough-around-the-edges mage that you hide away.

"After king Garons death I realized that you would be heading back to Vimore but my heart ached at the thought. I knew I had fallen in love with you during our time together. Which is why I wish to ask," I wanted to say something so badly. Xander loves me, all this time he really has loved me. Xander took something out of his pocket and got down on one knee. My heart was beating so fast I felt it was going to burst. "Princess Victoria of Vimore will you marry me?" He opened the box and I barely could see the ring as my eyes clouded with tears.

I practically jumped on Xander as I wrapped my arms around him. "Yes! Xander yes! I love you Xander," I cried.

"You've made me the happiest man in Nohr Victoria," he said it sounded like he wanted to cry too. He squeezed me in a hug before standing us up and releasing me.

I brushed away my tears and I finally got a good look at the ring. It was one of the most gorgeous rings I had ever seen. I held out my hand to Xander and he slipped it on my ring finger. Where I now had the chance to closely admire its beauty.

"It was my mother's ring. As soon as we returned here after the war I had it sent out to be cleaned and resized. It only got back this afternoon," I thought back earlier in the day.

"So what Laslow-"

"Yes and I would've loved to propose to you right then or even when I was speaking to Nohr, but I didn't wish to place that pressure upon you," that was very considerate.

"How did you know my ring size?" I blurted out. Xander chuckled.

"A little bird told me."

"And I bet her name was Nefertari," of course! "She probably even told you that I was absolutely crazy about you!" I wasn't crazy about Xander, I just really loved him and if he married another woman, well I may not have liked that idea. Xander laughed some more.

"Actually it was Alexandros that gave me hope for this proposal," Alexandros! I furrowed my brow in confusion as I thought about him. How dare he tell someone confidential information! "I noticed how negative he was looking after we returned from the war, more negative than usual that is. I had approached him and asked what was bothering him. He said 'I would be going home right now but Princess Victoria wants to stay because she's in love with you!' Then I suppose he realized what he had said. He proceeded to mumble a bunch of profanities before running off," I sighed.

"I suppose I can't be upset with him," I mean if Alexandros didn't let that slip, would Xander still propose to me? A gust of wind went by and I shivered at the chill it brought.

"I see you were soon turning in for the night, my apologies. You must be cold, let's go inside shall we?" I nodded and went back into his room. Xander closed the door and fixed the curtain across it.

"I was actually in the middle of taking down my hair when Laslow knocked. I had dismissed Nefertari for the night saying I could get myself ready for bed myself. But I swear it's like she hides the hair pins in another dimension so I won't find them!" Xander laughed.

"Will you allow me to assist you?" I blushed and nodded before turning around and Xander began to haul out pins that had kept my hair in place all day. As Xander's fingers went through my hair my blush only darkened. What was there to be embarrassed about? He's my fiancé now. I'm still not over that shock.

"I believe that it's the last one," Xander said as he added one final pin to the collection in my hand.

"Thank you Xander," I said turning around and slipping the pins in my robe pocket. I just hope that my face isn't beet red. I noticed Xander staring at my face before locking eyes with me.

"Victoria may I, may I kiss you."

"Y-yes Xander," he brushed some stray hairs behind my ear and then let his hand rest on the back of my neck while his other hand came to lay on my waist and he pulled me closer. I wrapped my hands around the back of his neck. As our faces got closer we closed our eyes.

For being my first kiss it was perfect, although I never imagined it would be the king of Nohr.

"You must forgive me if it was not so good. I've never-"

"It was lovely Xander. And if I'm being honest, it was my first as well," he seemed relieved to hear me say that.

"May I kiss you again?" I nodded and he did.

"You know Xander you don't need to ask permission to kiss me every time," I said after we pulled apart.

"I don't?"

"No, you can just kiss me."

"I can kiss you, when ever I want."

"Yes Xander," I said giggling.

"Well then," he leaned down and peppered my lips with kisses.

"I should be getting back to my room for the night," I said with a yawn. As I turned to walk away Xander caught my wrist.

"This may be too sudden, but will you stay here with me tonight? I understand if you decline, I will think no less of my love for you," Xander wants me, to sleep next to him. I thought about it for a moment.

"As long as you don't snore," he chuckled.

"I'll try not to," we both laughed. "I was wondering where your sharp tongue went. Perhaps love softens your personality."

"No way," but then I thought about how cutesy and lovey dovey I've been since I arrived in Xander's room. "I was just caught up in the moment of it all," I said. "But if I'm honest I'm just so happy that my feelings were reciprocated and I don't have to hide it anymore," Xander has been the first person since Victor that I've been able to break down my walls and open my heart to.

Xander walked around the bed to what I assumed was his preferred side while I stepped out of my slippers and untied my robe. Could I just lay it down anywhere? I certainly can't throw it on the floor.

"Um, Xander?" He looked over at me. "Where can I lay this?" Hastily he looked around his room.

"Is the back of my chair alright?" I nodded and handed him my robe and he draped it over the back of his desk chair.

I pulled back the covers and got into the bed, it was very comfy and it reminded me of my own bed back in Vimore.

Xander getting ready for bed consists of taking off everything but his underwear, and being the lady that I am I tried my best not to stare at his muscles that he mostly likely spent the majority of his life to building up and continues stay in such good shape.

After Xander climbed into bed we both just laid there staring at the ceiling, it was a tad awkward in my opinion.

"Victoria?"

"Yes Xander."

"Please don't laugh but," oh no, now I'm definitely going to want to laugh. "I had asked Laslow for some, I suppose you'd call it, relationship advice," of course I wanted to laugh. But deep down I suppose if I was in Vimore I would've asked Victor or Ashley for some advice.

"And what did he tell you?" I'm quite curious about this now. I don't know Laslow's relationship history besides the fact that he's a flirt.

"Um, well, he said that girls like you like to the cuddled when your going to sleep," I face immediately burned up. How did Laslow know I liked cuddles.

"'Girls like me', what's that supposed to mean exactly?" Xander was silent for a moment, no doubt trying to figure out what response won't anger me.

"I'm assuming he was referring to how you tend to have a tough exterior," I accepted that answer. "So you do like cuddles?"

"Yes! I admit it. When I was younger my mother would cuddle me until I feel asleep. And if I had a nightmare I'd either sneak into Victors room or the night guard would fetch him for me and he'd cuddle me," next thing I knew I was engulfed by Xander's arms around me, holding me close to him. He felt warm and safe.

And it wasn't long after I drifted off to sleep.
