Act 10 Scene 1
There wasn't much for me to do around the castle, and Victoria was busy with everyone else preparing for Victors coronation tomorrow, so all I had were my siblings to keep me company.
"Big brother when we go home will I get to find a dress to wear to your wedding?" Elise asked, I could tell she was bursting with excitement for the wedding.
"Of course Elise, that's one of the many things that have to be done for the wedding," I said giving her head a pat as she beamed a smile at me.
"And then there also Victoria's coronation that'll have to happen some time after the wedding," Leo interjected.
"Hmm yes, plans need to be made for her coronation when we return."
"You don't sound happy about that dear brother," Camilla said.
"Of course I'm looking forward to that, but I've been thinking about an idea," I told them my idea. "I haven't said anything to Victoria yet, but do you think she'll like it?"
"I think its a wonderful idea brother," Camilla said.
"Yes it does make a lot more sense to do it that way, some preparations would have to be made but I believe it's doable," Leo commented.
"Alright then, now all I have to do is bring it up to Victoria," I continued to talk with my siblings as I knew Victoria was still most likely busy doing things for tomorrow.
When we all met up again with the Vimorian royals it was supper time and I could just tell by how Victoria sat that she was tired. After the meal was finished I followed Victoria back to her room.
"Are you finished for the day now love?" I asked. She let out a sigh which turned into a yawn.
"I wish, but I have to wait for some of the decorators to check in with me for some minor details. If if wasn't for me, the coronation would be the most hideous one in history! My brother has absolutely no sense of style, a blind man could pick out better fabric patterns, honestly!" She huffed sitting down at her vanity and taking her tiara off and placing it down. "Anyway I have to take my hair down out of this bun, I usually take it out before supper but today I just couldn't get the time," I watched her struggle to remove some of the pins in her hair and after the final pin was removed her hair all cascaded down her back like a waterfall. Victoria massaged her scalp sighing in relief, after placing her tiara back on she turned back to me.
"Now was there a particular reason you followed me Xander, or did you just miss me all day?" I smiled at her and bent down to give her a kiss.
"I suppose both, but I do have something I want to discuss with you," she urged me to continue. "Well we had planned that originally when we return to Nohr we would our wedding and then later your coronation."
"Yes I thought we all agreed that, that should be best."
"Well I've done some thinking and I think that it would be more easier and a lot less work for the servants if immediately following the wedding your sworn in as queen, it won't be as big and grand as the usual coronation but still a ceremony nonetheless. How does that sound?" I could see the gears turning in her head.
"Will I be crowned in my wedding dress?"
"You can of course change into a different dress as I'm sure you already have a design for it in your head," she let out a small laugh.
"You do know me so well, I actually already have people working on it, its the wedding dress that I don't have a final design for yet," she sighed, "I can't wait to get back to Nohr to start preparing."
"Even after all the running around you've been doing for your brothers coronation?
"Well... thats a trick question, I'm not answering that." She said with a 'hmph'. Then a knock came at the door, Victorias face sank before hardening into her usual royal demeanour, I opened the door before Victoria could say anything.
"I'm looking for the princess," the servant said. I opened the door wider so that they could enter, I busied myself by looking out the window as the servant spoke to Victoria.
"His highness narrowed down the napkins to these few fabrics he wishes for your approval for the final decision," there was a slight pause before Victoria responded.
"These fabrics don't match a single other thing in the ceremony! I swear Victor is doing this on purpose, these are the most tackiest patterns I have ever laid my eyes upon," Victoria was definitely annoyed but I could tell she was holding back as the servant was only the messenger.
"What do you propose we do your highness?"
"Is there still fabric left from the drapes?"
"I believe so."
"Well scavenge what you can of that, and use the same gold outlining that's on the edges of the carpet for the edge of the napkins, I know there's plenty of that left," she sighed.
"Of course your highness, now there's also the matter of which dining set will be used Victor insists that the one already in place will suffice."
"He can't be serious. It's tradition that the sacred china set be used for coronations, it was made specifically for Zeckensaw's coronation. We will use those so I suggest someone get them polished immediately."
"Yes your highness."
"Now is that all matter of the coronation decided?"
"Yes I do believe that is all."
"Good now go, I do not wish to be bothered for the rest of the evening, tell Nefertari that I will call on her if I need her, other than that I do not wish do be disturbed by anyone." The servant bowed and left. Once the door clicked shut, Victoria let out a groan of frustration and anger while rubbing her temples. I went over and rubbed her shoulders.
"Why are you handling all of these details, couldn't someone else do all this?"
"It's tradition for the heirs sibling to take care of preparations for a coronation, as a duty to the eldest."
"Sounds more like rubbing it in your face that your not getting the crown."
"Well that's part of it, but if the coronation is not to the heirs liking, they must kill their sibling."
"So that protects against sabotage I suppose."
"Yes, it also is the reason I have never got to meet my uncle. He tried to poison my father at the supper, my father suspected something was going to happen that day so he had his food and drink swapped with him which of course killed my uncle."
"Buy you know Victor would never-"
"Of course I know Victor would never kill me, but it is tradition, and if I just let all his choices slide, this would've been the ugliest coronation in our history!"
"But so much has happened in the last few days, don't you think you should rest?" She let out a big yawn.
"A princesses job is never over Xander. But you are right. I guess I haven't had the down time to really comprehend everything that's happened," Victoria leaned back against me. "Wait, I have an idea," Victoria stood up grabbing my hand. "Follow me Xander," and I followed her out of he room.
She led me through corridors, up stairways, I never recognized where we were in the castle, granted I never knew my way around in the first place. But from our position I can guess where in one of the high towers. After one last stairway Victoria opened a hatch and we climbed up through it.
"This is the observatory," Victoria said. It was a circular room with railing around the edges, but was the most spectacular was that the walls and the ceiling was a dome that must've been made from magic, and you could see the constellations clearly despite the fact that I knew it was a cloudy night.
"How-" I couldn't even make a sentence, I was at a lost for words.
"I made this."
"This was made from your magic?"
"Yeah originally all this was, was an open platform with a telescope, but I took such an interest in the stars that I wanted to be here constantly, but of course originally with this being open to the elements and cloudy nights, I began to experiment with spells. Then eventually this one worked, you can't see the dome from the outside you have to be inside to see it. Weather doesn't affect the dome so I can see the stars whenever I want."
"That's absolutely amazing Victoria, this is beautiful."
"I used to come here a lot when I was younger, eventually I stopped, I can't remember why though," she paused for a moment no doubt thinking, then she moved like she was taken aback by something or in pain.
"Is everything alright Victoria, what happened?" I said rushing to her side, she straightened up holding her head with one hand and using my arm as support with her other hand.
"I-I don't know, I just got this sharp pain in my skull, like something just fell on top of me, I'll be fine Xander, no need for worry."
"Still, I think you should lie down, perhaps it's the stress," I said guiding her towards the hatch.
"Um yes, it must be. Let us go Xander."
