Chapter 24
ANA
There was a small crowd gathering around something as we left through the gate on the horses Sam used. We are heading to Mount Barker to get our things and bring them back to the Adelaide Oval. We zig zagged through the car maze at the front gate and rode down the road. It's a long trip to Mount Barker. But it's a good trip. If it's early morning when you get to the freeway, you can see the city of Adelaide with the sunrise behind it. It's a site to see. But sadly it's probably about one or two o'clock in the afternoon.
We rode into the freeway. We saw one of the car blocks Sam, Paul and Gabriella did. So we quickly changed roads and kept going down the freeway. There was a small opening in the car block. It looked like Sam wanted us to close it off when we are done. We rode through the opening and rode past the Crafers turn off. We saw the pikes stuck in the dirt. I looked forward and kept riding.
It's extremely hard to raise Prince up without Kane. I don't think I would be able to do it. Somehow Gabriella is doing well looking after Stella. Stella was a unwanted child as well, and somehow Gabriella can still look after her. When ever I look at Prince I think of Kane. Especially because Kane named him.
We finally made it to Mount Barker after about one or two hours. We rode to the front gate. Because no one was inside I had to get off of my horse and climb the fence. I used my horse as a step and climbed over the fence. I then open the gate and my people rode in.
"Alright guys get anything valuable. Especially guns and ammunition if we have any!" I yelled.
I walked back outside and got my horse. I put her inside and closed the gate. I brushed the dirt off of my pants from climbing over the fence and then walked to the armoury. I walked inside and searched it. There was lots of rusted guns hanging up on display. I walked past them and went up to the table. The table had five rifles on it. Just like I told Sam. I quickly grabbed them all and put them into a gun bag that was underneath the table. I then put them on the ground and searched for ammunition.
I looked in boxes and couldn't find them. But then I looked in the corner and found to ammo boxes. I grabbed them and looked inside. One of them was full and the other was half full. I closed them and picked them up. I grabbed the gun bag as well and walked outside. One of my people grabbed the our wagon so I quickly put my stuff into the wagon. I saw Michael walking over to the wagon to put some stuff into it.
"Why are we gonna live there? This place is great. We did well for ourselves" Michael said.
"We need to stick together. Now more then ever" I said.
"We should just let Adelaide Oval fend for themselves. We should just turn against them again. Like we did before" Michael said.
"Aren't you the one who told Sam that I was planning something against him? What changed your mind?" I said.
"What changed my mind? The Whisperers did. They are gonna kill every single one of us. We need to get out of here before they do" Michael said.
"We aren't going anywhere, and we aren't going against Adelaide Oval again. That was a mistake. Luckily Sam turned us in the right direction" I said.
"Whatever" Michael said throwing the stuff he found stuff into the wagon.
I was disappointed with Michael. I walked away and walked towards Thomas's old house. I walked in and immediately I saw the prison cell Sam was tortured in. It smelt bad. That's the reason why no one wanted to live in this house. So it got turned into a storage house. I walked up stairs and looked out the window. I saw the ditch that Thomas used to keep Zombies in. I remember that he pushed Sams friend in there. Kiara. This place always gave me memories of that. So I'm kind of happy to leave this place. I won't have these memories again. I want to forget Thomas. He was a crazy man. Who wanted blood. A tear went down my face. I wiped it away and picked up a crate full of food. I then walked outside and put it into the wagon.
I decided I needed some fresh air. I walked to the front gate and opened it. I walked out and walked down the road. I didn't walk past one Zombie. There population is completely decreasing rapidly. Or maybe they just end up in the coal mine with the Whisperers.
I heard moaning. But it was timid moaning. I looked around and saw something moving. I walked over to it. It was a Zombie. It was just laying on the ground. It looked hungry. It was basically decayed. It didn't have eyes and it's skin was tight meaning you could see the Zombies bones. This Zombie must have been around for a while. It was slowly trying to grab me but it had little to no energy at all.
"I'm sorry" I said.
I slowly took out my knife and stabbed it in the brain. It stopped moaning and it's head fell to the ground. It smelt pretty bad but I was used to it. Living with these things for about four years and you will easily be used to it. I stood up and just looked at it. I then walked away and walked back to Mount Barker. The wagon was pretty full now. There was enough room for someone to sit in the wagon as well. Everyone was finished so we all got into the wagon. We then road back to the Adelaide Oval.
We road past the road block and we put the car into place. Then we all continued riding towards Adelaide Oval. Our new home.
