Night 5: Sacrifice
Sacrifice...
Sacrifice?
Sacrifice!
Spirita lay on the ground beaten and her gem cracked. She didn't want to die. She didn't want to leave this world. She just wanted to see Leafa again. The real Leafa. Not the one that was about to smash her gem. Not the one that had trapped her friends. She wanted to see the Leafa that had grown up with her. The Leafa that everyone had grown to love. How did she get like this you may ask? No you didn't skip a chapter! Spirita thought about it. She thought about everything. Even to the beginning.

A small baby with beautiful white hair jumped on the back of A brunette's back. The brunette had her hair in a short bun and the white haired girl had her hair down. They were the best of friends living on the surface. Their little village was homey and friendly and the people practically worshipped them. There was only 3 half humans. Their names were Leafa, Spirita, and Chris. They were the three musketeers and were very close friends.
They looked up to a gem named Rose Quartz. She lived in their city called Beach city. So did 3 other gems. Well there was millions of gems in beach city, but they were underground. The humans had pushed most of the gems underground. Leafa, Spirita, and Chris were the age of 5 and were aloud to come up from time to time. Rose Quartz always brought them candy and played with them. These half gems were special. Their bodies aged fast and their brains were growing faster than others. They knew how to walk and talk by 3 months. One day Rose didn't come. The three scampered over to her base. She was not there. They assumed that she went on a big mission so they went back. She'd be back soon...

Spirita sat on the cliff crying her heart out. Leafa was never the same. She would just look at Spirita and grunt at her before leaving. They weren't together anymore. Chris had started to date Leafa and after that they no longer talked. Chris and Leafa would cuddle each other almost every second. She was her old self when she was with him, but the second he left she turned cold and hurtful. Spirita wondered what she had did. She wondered what Chris did. She wondered what the people of the town did. The two were on a secret mission alone for the first time in forever. Spirita walked over to Leafa stomped on her foot. Leafa screamed in pain and looked at Spirita with a glare. Leafa's eyes softened as she saw her old best friend crying. Spirita's eyes were puffy and she wouldn't even look at Leafa.
"What happened? Did something happen?" Spirita asked. This was their mission. They couldn't not talk for the whole time. Leafa didn't even look Spirita. Spirita kicked and punched at Leafa. She was caught off guard by the attacks and stumbled to the edge of a cliff. She clutched her weapon as Spirita let the tears pour out of her eyes. Her eyes grew big as Leafa fell off the cliff.
Spirita quickly grabbed onto Leafa's hand. She could see Leafa screaming her heart out. Tears dripped off her face as Spirita tightened her grip.
"I'm sorry! I-I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I-I-I-" Leafa screamed and was choking on her tears. Spirita was so scared. Unlike Leafa, Spirita was weak. She has not trained much. Spirita didn't want this. If she could keep Leafa alive then she'd do anything. She felt the girl's grasp slip from her hold.
Screams. So many screams. She forgot that she was screaming as well. She screamed until her vision became blurry. She didn't even know if she passed out. She felt her knees slip off the cliff. She moved her hands around for anything only to feel the soft hands of her companion. She still couldn't open her eyes until a harsh bang on the rock forced her to cough up blood.
The red liquid was spat everywhere. She couldn't stop hacking it up. Leafa was doing the same, but she had gotten up. She had gotten up and looked around. She had looked around and looked so confused. Spirita reached out for help. She was in so much pain. The blood wouldn't stop coming. Spirita couldn't stop throwing up now. Sooner or later she threw up air. Leafa looked mortified at the girl beneath me.
"You ok? I-I don't know what to do! Is there a doctor around? AH! What's this thing on my foot? It looks so precious. That's a lot of blood!" Leafa was screaming. Spirita's head was pounding and Leafa wasn't helping.
"Leafa! Stop playing dumb!" Spirita snapped. Leafa looked startled by the outburst. "I-I-I don't want to die. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not until I know that you're safe!" Spirita sobbed. Her breath was distorted in fragments. She was shaking.
"Who are you?" Leafa whispered. The area around her felt like it went silent. It felt like it was only the two of them. Everything around them was a blur. Spirita stopped. She stopped living. She stopped breathing. She was a new person. A murderer. She just murdered her old friend. The word rang it her mind. Murderer. Murderer. She couldn't stop. She reached out her frail hand. Her face went pail. Leafa just stepped away.
"I wish I knew to,"

Spirita strapped her backpack together. Cloth dangled on the side. She grabbed a knife and quickly chopped off some of her long delicate hair. She put on a white sweater to cover her gem and put makeup on to make her skin more human like. She grabbed a box of 7 hundreds and change and stuffed it all in her backpack. She was done.
Spirita couldn't live with Leafa. Leafa had become a pain. She always asked what their relationship was. Spirita always responded with a simple enemy. Leafa couldn't accept that. She always said new person or bright future. She even moved in with the girl. Spirita would have liked this if she had been like that all her life, but her recent memories of Leafa were bitter and tearful.
Chris had been devastated. All memories of their love was gone. At least it was a better love story than Twilight, but Leafa was innocent. She assumed that she would never do that. Chris and her could at least be friends. Chris would comfort her once she was gone. Spirita smiled thinking that maybe the two would be back together when she was gone. They were adorable even if he took her away.
Spirita shook off the thought and walked away. There was a room full of warp pads. She remembered everything she shared here. She walked into any warp pad and warped. She knew this town like the back of her hand. Well her left hand at least. It was a homey little town called Beach City.

The group stared Leafa straight in the face. They had made it. They made it to the end. The end of the world as Leafa called it.
"Hi there! You ready to die?" She grinned and twirled her dress. Her gem mechanism was being twirled in her hand. Everyone can see the two diamonds smashed behind Leafa. Yellow Diamond and White diamond were shattered. They were gone. Everyone could feel that the other diamonds were on their way from other star galaxies. Leafa really was going to kill them. Or at least try.
Onyx sprung into action and whipped his flail out. He lunged for Leafa, but she dodged and grabbed the flail before breaking it. Onyx wasn't done yet. He summoned another flail and threw it at her. All Leafa had to do was move her head and the flail was directed to Steven. Steven caught the flail and started to panic. He threw it at Spirita and she caught it. Spirita jumped up and twirled to hit anything on Leafa.
She had not forgotten the old Leafa. She could not forget the old Leafa. The one that grew up with her. The one she had murdered. Did she murder her? Did she really brutally take away the 8 year olds life. No. That old Leafa was still alive. Just dormant. That old Leafa laid dormant inside of a corpse. A new one was born. That new one had done everything for Spirita. That new Leafa tried everything to remember. Spirita was glad that she didn't. If she had then she might have turned harsh and cold. That's when it hit Spirita. The old Leafa was probably a spy. They would be sent to Earth as a child. They would blend in and they would be taught in secret. Each day someone would give them information on how to spy. The old Leafa was loyal to homeworld. This was the old Leafa. Spirita felt no feelings for this imposter anymore. Was this really the imposter though? This was the original. Spirita had no feelings for the real Leafa.
Spirita tightened her grip on the flail and ran it across Leafa. Spirita quickly summoned her dual swords and came back with an attack. Leafa blocked a lot of the attacks leaving Spirita frustrated. Spirita swung at Leafa harder and harder. Faster and faster. She finally hit Leafa. Leafa swung to the floor with wide eyes. A huge gash lay on her chest. It seemed to make Leafa come to her senses, but not for long.
Sapphire closed her eyes and moved her hands around. Sooner or later water formed in her hands and she opened her eyes. They were a sunset kind of orange now and her gaze was threatening. She pushed the water full onto Leafa and grabbed her sword. It turned into a wand and she made the water electric and sent other magics in the water. In just seconds an explosion erupted around them.
Smoke filled the air and everyone was coughing. A grunt was heard from a pained Steven. You could hear him clank to the ground and then being dragged away. Next came Onyx. Then Sapphira. Spirita was so confused. She felt something punch her in the stomach. She knew it now. Sapphira had accidentally given Leafa a chance to strike. Spirita changed her eyes to green and the area around her brightened. Her night vision was very useful at a time like this.
Leafa came in with a punch to the face. Spirita was stuck in shock letting Leafa shoot at Spirita. The gem stabilizer stung. It felt like it was ripping at her body. She was being cut in half. Leafa smashed her foot into Spirita's face. She fell to the ground. It was over.
---------
*Now*
Spirita lay in her blood. It spilled out of her body and onto the floor. For a second she could breath before Leafa shot at her again. She refused to go into her cracked gem. Leafa kept kicking and kicking. She could feel herself slipping away. She was so tired. She wondered if this was her punishment. Was Leafa just giving her a taste of her medicine.
Spirita smiled. At least she had memories of a kind Leafa. She had memories before she left. She had memories at the temple. She had memories all of new Leafa. Beautiful and cherished moments. Old Leafa could never replace that. Spirita stopped in her words. Yes she could. Leafa was Leafa. There is no old or no new Leafa. Leafa is still Leafa. Spirita felt so dumb. Leafa was always herself. Spirita just liked one side of Leafa. Spirita felt like such a bad friend. She couldn't even like all of her best friend. She was disgusted of herself.
"I-I'm sorry," The words just slipped out. There was no tears. She had none left to spare. Leafa stopped. Spirita was so glad that she had longer to breath than just 1 second. Leafa tightened her grip on her weapon.
"Why? When I pleaded for you to help me up you let me fall... When I looked at you and asked you who you were. What did you do? You knew that you could've killed me. It would've been better for you if you did," Leafa glared. Spirita choked a little bit on her words. Leafa remembered everything. Was it all an act? "It wasn't an act trust me. I would've killed you if you and I survived that fall. Instead I couldn't. Someone or something stopped me. I couldn't move. It was like watching a movie that I couldn't stop. Someone acted so nice to you. They kept you alive and made themselves forget everything. Do you know who it was? It was me," Leafa laughed. Her laugh grew louder and tears dripped down her face.
"W-why? You could've just killed me. You only made it worse. You made me suffer with the thought that I murdered an 8 year old girl, but she was reborn. Reborn into someone else," Spirita whimpered. Leafa jabbed Spirita with the handle of one of her dual swords. Her laugh wouldn't stop ringing in her ears. It was an ugly laugh. It was a laugh of a psychopath.
"Trust me here. I wanted you back. I didn't want to kill you. I really didn't. I was so evil that I had to. What am I saying? I still am bad. I created a new side of me. I created a side that would tie me up in my brain and take over. They were the person you saw after I asked you who you were. I was so happy. Seeing my plan work was amazing..." She paused. "Until you left..."
Spirita was hit with guilt. Leafa was happy. Leafa... This was all happening because of a selfish mistake. All because of her.
"I couldn't handle it. I was breaking free. My other side would fight me every day to keep me under control. This happened until 2 years later. I was so relived that you were alive. I was so happy, but also furious. You left me with Chris. I love him but my other side hated looking at him. We ended up only staying friends, and I could see the pain every time he saw me. I left that place to get somewhere more peaceful, but look who I found!" She laughed pushing her foot into Spirita's face. Spirita cringed.
Spirita was feeling limp. Her gem was extremely cracked and Leafa was beating her up. Blood spewed out of her body. It then stopped and Spirita lay in an abyss of darkness. The pain was gone and in her last moments of consciousness she heard Leafa getting the beating she needed. She smiled before slipping away.
