I lean over my knees, gasping for breath as I reach the final boss, the border I knew I was physically incapable of getting past.
"What's wrong shorty?" I feel a hand lay on my back and I jump away in shock, only to role my eyes when I see Jin as the culprit. "Need some help there?"
"If you're going to be like that then no, Seokjin." I cant help but to role my eyes and look back at the obstacle to find a logical way to get around it.
"Seokjin?" the boy repeats, "I thought we were on 'Jin' basis. Did I say something wrong, shorty?"
With an audible sigh, I turn to address the boy, "You know exactly what you said."
There's a short silence between us as I role up my sleeves and look around for some sort of stepping stool but my concentration is cut short by Jin's loud, over-exaggerated sigh. With a huff, I look over to him.
"Look at us, fighting like a married couple already." Jin teases, walking up the wall and scaling it with ease. He sits with one leg on either side of the wall and looks down at me. Pft. Show off.
"Already?" I mock, attempting to scale the wall the same way but miserably failing and landing on my butt.
"Yeah, why don't I just come back down and carry you over bridal style while I'm at it?" Jin swings his legs teasingly and sends me a mischievous smile.
"Instead of flirting why don't you come down and do what you said you'd do? Give me a boost." I put either of my hands on my hips and watch Seokjin as he jumps down.
"Flirting? I don't know what you're talking about." Jin gets on one knee against the wall and cups his hands in front of himself for me to boost myself up. I sigh and place my foot in his hands, "If you're looking for a dumb girl, I'm not her," he boosts me up, I sit the same why he had before and wait for him to jump up and help me down from the other side.
"Okay then, not dumb girl," Jin jumps up and sits so that he faces me on the wall, "Got any dinner plans?"
"With my family." I nonchalantly reply, Jin nods and looks away slowly, I continue, "What about you?"
"Probably takeout, my parents are never home before 12 in the morning anyway." Jin jumps down and cups his hands above his head for me to step onto. I do and he lowers me onto his raised knee. I stand there as he grabs a hold of my waist and lowers me down. When I reach the floor, his hands linger there and I look between them and his face repeatedly but he doesn't remove his hand, he only sends me a sly smirk, "What can I say? I can't keep my hands to myself."
I take his hands off for him and send him a smirk in response, "Good thing I can help you with that, buddy."
"Damn, what a cockblocker," Jin jokes, we laugh together and I point a finger at him, "Certified." I correct, "Certified cockblocker."
We make our way past the final small obstacles, keeping small and comfortable conversation, "So, rich boy, if you don't mind me asking, why are your parents never home before 12? Do they work all day or something?"
"No, they finish work at 9 everyday." Jin sighs before he continues, not keeping eye contact with me like he usually does when he speaks, "They jump between clubs and bars after, there's probably not a single one in town that they haven't visited."
I hesitantly process the information, "Oh, I-"
"Congratulations on finishing the course!" The obstacle course workers cheery voice calls, "Hyeon, this is a first for you, did you boyfriend help?"
"This is Seokjin, Bora, he's only a school friend but he did help," I excuse, "Jin, this is my friend Bora, we used to work together."
They exchange small smiles before Bora rips out two large stickers from an endless cord of them and writes our names on either, "Sure Hyeon, it's nice to see you again, here's your certification of completion," Bora removes the sticker backing of the one with my name on it and pats it onto my shirt before handing over the unused sticker to Jin, "Wear it proudly!"
"We will Bora, see ya later!" I conclude, Seokjin and I head to the exit, for every one of his steps, I take two... like fucking damn why is he so tall. When he stops by the door, I'm relieved and take a breath. But my breath is caught short when I feel Seokjin push his thumb into my forehead, I look at his other hand and notice the empty sticker back, oh my-he did not just put his sticker on my forehead...
I reach up to remove the sticker but Jin grabs both of my hands, "Wha-"
"Don't take it off, leave it on for a bit, take it as something to remember me by." I can't help but to role my eyes at how dramatic he was being, like we were in a drama and this was the last time we'd ever meet again. Thinking of the sad drama scene made me remember how distraught Jin looked talking about his dinner plans, I couldn't just leave him alone...
"Hey Jin?" I call out, just as we're about to go our separate ways on the sidewalk.
"Yeah?" He curiously calls in response.
"Would you maybe like to come have dinner at my place tonight?" I nervously ask, shifting my weight from one foot to the other.
I watch a warm smile crawl up the boys face, "Yeah, I'd like that."
