Chapter Twenty-One: Finally Home
-Alastor's point of view-
I went back to the estate with Angel after our date. Angel led me right inside and instantly all of the triplets came pelting out of who knows where to tackle me. I didn't dodge in time, so I got knocked over by three enthusiastic ten year olds who had their birthday recently.
"Yeah. That's about what I was expecting." I sighed as the triplets clung to me. "Hey, kids."
"On the bright side, at least Mercy and Stitches didn't join in. You would've been trampled." Angel chuckled as he started to try to pry the triplets off me.
"Yeah, we don't need that." I agreed with an amused smile.
"Al. You're their mom. Tell them to get offa you. I can't get them off." Angel sighed.
"Fine." I sighed before speaking up in a steely tone. "Samuel Aaron, Aubrielle Snow, and Jackson Aracane-Glass, I am not pleased with this behavior, get off me or I will ground you." I growled threateningly.
The triplets immediately got off of me with short apologies and lined up in a neat little row. Angel helped me up off the ground and I looked around a little bit.
"It's good to be home though." I shrugged, sharing a smile with Angel. "Now, I know how much you three missed me, but getting knocked over was not my favorite thing when I was just trying to get inside. Can we hug like civilized demons now?" I took a knee, opening my arms.
Jackson was the first to take the hook, hugging onto me tightly. I hugged back, rubbing his back. Sam came next, kissing me on the cheek. Aubrey glared at me for a long minute, clearly thinking about how this might bruise her pride.
"Aubrey, we're behind closed doors. We're your family. There is no individual pride when we're with family." I sighed. She eventually came to the same conclusion and hugged me tightly with tears starting in her eyes. I carefully sat on my butt, folding my legs in front of me so I could hold her better, rocking back and forth as I ran my long fingers through her dark hair. Sam and Jack joined in and Angel watched from a distance.
"I missed you so much. Why were you gone for so long?" Aubrey asked.
"It wasn't my choice, Bee. I was kidnapped, held captive for almost two months, wiped of all memories of my life down here, and put back onto the streets with a key to a little apartment in the city and a hundred dollars. I didn't remember you guys." I said, my voice cracking.
"Do you remember who held you captive?" Angel cut in, clearly furious.
"Not yet. I'm still trying to remember all of the happier memories." I shook my head, smiling up at him from around my youngest kids. I ruffled the triplets' hair, kissing each one on the forehead. "Did you guys eat?"
"Yeah, we ate! Uncle Nissy and Uncle Penny came over with pizza and we binged Gravity Falls!" Sam exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air.
"Hey, bro." Angel greeted Arackniss. "Hi Tinkertoys."
"'Sup." Arackniss replied.
"Hello, Stripes." Pentious said before spotting me. "Alastor! Oh it's so good that you're back."
"Hello, Sir." I replied. "Where are the other two?"
"I assume you mean Stitches and Mercy? Stitches is out with his clique at the mall for Afterhours. Mercy is still on the couch with Calypso and Ben. Ben is fast asleep as of now." Pentious rattled off the list, adjusting how his half-moon glasses sat on his face before staring at me. "And the triplets are scattered around you as far as we know. Sam has been experimenting with self-multiplication while you were gone."
"Wow..." I said, raising my eyebrows. "Oh, I forgot until just now...happy birthday, kids." I pulled little keychains of their favorite cartoon characters out of my jacket and gave them each a keychain. "Sorry, it's not that much bu-"
"It's enough! You coming back is enough of a birthday gift for us." Jack exclaimed. Sam and Aubrey nodded in agreement.
"You're all good kids." I smiled, tucking all of them into another hug(I really am grateful that I'm practically built like Slenderman, okay? I'm mostly arm and leg). "Alright, you can go back to watching your cartoons if you want, I'm going upstairs with your father after I say a quick hello to Mercy." The triplets scattered and I got off the floor, heading up to the living room floor.
"Dad! How does it feel to be home?" Mercy asked.
"It feels wonderful." I replied, kissing her on the forehead.
"I'm glad. Go get in your jammies, I'll put Ben in his play pen for the night and we can go ahead and watch Disney." Mercy said, getting up and taking Ben from Calypso.
"I have to round up the triplets and make sure they go to bed because it is about that time." Angel agreed, checking his watch.
I put on my pajamas, wrapping a large fluffy blanket around my shoulders and picking up Khoshekh. Angel hurried into his almost see-through flowy pink bathrobe with the fur lining on the sleeves and his tank top-shorts set after getting the triplets in their beds.
We went downstairs and sat all together on the couch, cuddling as we watched the Disney movies we'd collected.
