Dirty Dealings

"Can you stop looking at me like that and say something?" Thomas practically begged as Alex ogled him.

"What do you want me to say?" Alex replied with a smug grin, "That I was right? Or that I want to do all kinds of things with you?"

A shiver went down Thomas's spine. "Look, about what I said last night..."

"You can't back out of this one Thomas. You kissed me, not the other way around." Alex replied happily as he continued to ogle Thomas.

"Can't you give me some space though? You've been a foot away from me ever since I got out of bed this morning. I told you last night, I don't know what I feel. I just want some space to clear my head." Thomas stated with a frustrated sigh. "Look, I don't know what I feel towards you. You're my teacher-"

"Then let me teach you a few new things!" Alex interrupted with a sensual smile. "I promise I am quite skilled, and I can teach you many things about the human body you never even imagined!"

A shiver of excitement went racing down his back at the thought of being with Alex, but he quickly pushed it away. "Look, just give me some space okay? You're pushing me too hard here, and I don't appreciate it! I just need some time to sort out everything." The room fell silent, the two standing uncomfortably close as Thomas tried to take a step away. "I know you are trying to be nice in your own way, but I still can't get over the old you that I came to know."

"You killed him," Alex replied with a lustful growl as he took a step closer to Thomas. "You used that hidden magic you have inside you to murder him in cold blood. Just think of me as his really hot, and really horney son!" He wrapped his arms around Thomas, leaning his waist against Thomas's hips. "Can't you see we were made to be together? You brought me a new life, and I want to give it to you. Just accept it, let us become one!"

"I said no!" Thomas exclaimed, pulling himself away from Alex's tight grip before taking a few nervous steps away. "This isn't how romance works. You don't force the one you love into positions they aren't comfortable with!" Alex looked over at him, his eyes clouded with lust. "Just leave me alone for a while okay? I need time to think!" He started off towards a corridor leaving Alex behind.

"You can't keep hiding from your emotions Thomas." Alex called out after him, his voice beginning to shake. "I have feelings too..."

I know you have feelings...Thomas thought to himself as he continued his solitary journey towards nowhere. I have feelings sure, but I don't know how to react to the ones you keep pushing on me! Continuing down the hall, he feels an all to familiar hum and his fingers begin to vibrate. "A-Alex!" He cried out suddenly panicking, his fear audible. "Alex, help my magic is starting to react for some reason!" Silence answered him, and Thomas turned around. Alex was gone. "Alex?" The vibrations in his fingers started creeping up his hands, slowly forcing his hands to vibrate. "I don't know how to control this! Please, help me!"

The continued silence terrified Thomas. He was alone, and he had no idea what was going to happen. The vibrations quickly claimed his arms and shot up into his chest before slowly climbing down his legs. Losing his balance, he fell to the solid cold stone beneath him. "Alex..." He whimpered as the vibration consumed his body. His vision began to shake, and suddenly he felt cold. His body felt as if it had been frozen in ice. Using the last of his strength, he looked down and saw the ground around him had frozen. The stone had a thick crust of ice over it that curved with his body. "Help..." He whimpered before the darkness consumed him.

The darkness was smothering him. The cold was steadily getting worse as he felt the ice slowly beginning to creep up his body. I don't wanna die... He thought bitterly as the ice began curling around his leg. I didn't ask for this magic! Why did it have to be me? The ice continuing its journey up his leg encasing his calf in it's deathly grip. Ice sprouts began on his fingers and began their journey up.

"Give yourself to me!" A wispy voice vibrated in his mind. "Let me claim your body as my own, and I promise you will never be alone again!" The voice sounded peaceful, but something was wrong. I promise I won't hurt you, just let me in. I'll make it all better, I'll even make sure you never feel alone again!"

Peering through the darkness, Thomas searched for the voice. "Where are you? Why can't I see you?" The ice had encapsulated him at this point, and his body was stuck in place.

An evil laugh echoed around him as he felt himself beginning to fade away. "Nevermind, your body is too frail to contain me. I guess I'll just let the Ice finish you!"

"No please." Thomas begged as he lost feeling in his toes, "I don't wanna die!"

"Tough luck kid, it's a shame you got the journal. You seem like such a loyal follower. It's such a shame the Flara won't be able to convert you!" The evil laughter continued as the numbness claimed him. Soon the darkness began to fade into something darker than darkness. The kind of empty you feel as your spirit begins to leave your body. Suddenly A beam of golden light illuminated the darkness blinding Thomas.

"Begone!" The dominating voice of the magegod commanded. It's bright light piercing through Thomas's closed eyes. The first voice hissed in annoyance before fading away leaving Thomas alone with the light. "Thomas, you're body is close to death. You need to use your power to melt the ice."

I don't know how! Thomas thought across the darkness to the being.

"Yes you do." The being stated as he rose his wispy hand up towards Thomas. "You magic lies in emotion. The same way mine did, you must control your emotions if you are to survive!" The ancient finger connected with Thomas's forehead and a flood of emotion washed over him. Love, hatred, and sadness dominated him all at once. "You have the power to free yourself from this spell Thomas."

What do you mean! I don't understand! Thomas thought, his emotions swirling in unison with the ones that consumed him.

"Think of what makes you happy Thomas. What is the most important thing in your life that makes you happy?" The being stated with a simple tone.

An image of being home when he was a child flashed into Thomas's mind. He was curled up in bed and was snuggled up to his parents. Then a bright light came bursting through the door as a man came in, a long knife in his hand. The scene scattered in front of him, dripping and falling away.

"I said joy, not pain" The voice shot through his head with wild fury. "Rage is not the answer to life. I gave up my life gladly in the name of love, not in the name of anger! Try again, what is it you want most in this world? What is the one thing you would be willing to die for? Picture it, dwell on it, and if your heart speaks true, you will survive!"

A scene began to form around him. He was laying on the grass, it was early summer, and the weather was warm. He was stretched out, enjoying the sunshine. He was looking up at the deep blue sky when he felt a hand wrap its way into his own. Looking over at his side, he saw Alex. He was laying beside him. They were both in plain clothes, and Alex was smiling at him. The feeling sent warmth shooting through his body. His heart began to beat faster as the warm smile engulfed him. "Alex?" He thought to himself as the scene around him seemed to grow more intense. The sun began to beam down on him, and the light began to hurt his eyes. The suns rays were so hot. The light began to burn his skin, and soon he had to roll onto his side to try and avoid the burning temperature. Alex's smiling face had grown closer to his own. His mouth was moving, but no words came out. Alex slowly moved closer, his lips touching Thomas's ears. The words he spoke finally registered making Thomas blush furiously. "I'd die a happy man knowing I got to love you for all this time."

The image began to fade, and the being smiled as Thomas felt warmth flood through him. "Your master holds a deep place in your heart. That is good, hold that thought. Remember it when you doubt yourself. The creature began to hover away slightly. "I can't keep reaching out to you like this Thomas. I am running out of energy, and my perverted creations know it. They feel my essence fading. I can't keep coming to save you. This is the last time I can come..." The being began to fade from view. "My last piece of advice I can offer you is this." The magegod begins to fade as he fades away. "Trust your heart, and let nothing stand above it!"

With that, the magegod faded from view leaving Thomas in the darkness once more. Standing silently, Thomas contemplated what the magegod said. Trust my heart? What kinda romantic bullshit was that? His cheeks immediately began to burn as he thought of the soft green grass, and Alex by his side. His wide grin, the words of love in his ears. It all made his heart ache. I mean if this is all a dream, then maybe... Maybe this is the manifestation of his feelings for me? A soft rumble pulled him from his thoughts. The darkness was all around him, yet he felt no cold. Maybe... Maybe I like him too? He thought as the warmth inside him began to blossom, the darkness starting to lighten. Suddenly the ground he was standing on gave way and he began to fall. Falling into the darkness, his body flailed in attempts to find the ground, but the second he hit the ground, his eyes shot open. The room he had awoken in was dark, almost dark as night sending a shiver down his spine.

"Thomas, you can't die! It's not fair," Alex's broken voice echoed through the darkness of the room. "Magegod if you still have any power, please bring Thomas back to me! I know he is your vessel, and it's my job to train him, but he's more than just a student! Please magegod, bring him back to me!"

The bed Thomas was laying on let out a little squeak as he began sitting up. Alex's eyes shot open, and he looked at the bed with a mixture of hope and joy. "Thomas?"

"I'm still alive..." Thomas managed to say before Alex shot over to his side.

Wrapping his arms tightly around Thomas, Alex let out a relieved sob of joy as he squeezed tightly. "Oh thank the magegod your alive! I thought I had lost you!"

Thomas tried to adjust, but fell back onto the bed with Alex leaning heavily on the bedside. "What happened?" Alex let go suddenly, he turned around and looked behind him before scanning the room. "Alex what happened to me?"

"We're not safe here anymore." Alex explained, his eyes shifting back and forth before looking back to Thomas. "The golems are out and they are wreaking havoc."

"The golems?"

Alex stood up when a large smashing sound echoed through the room. "Keep very quiet," He said in a hushed tone as the smashing sound began to repeat itself drawing closer and closer to the bedroom. The crashing sound paused at the entrance to the door, Thomas held his breath, hoping not to draw any more attention to himself. Then the doorway began to pound. "Damn it!" Alex growled before beginning to speak in a language unknown to Thomas. The door burst open and in came a gigantic muddy figure. He had no eyes, yet somehow it could see. It moved it's humongous sloppy brown head scanning the room. Looking over to where Thomas was laying, the creature focused on it. Panic began emanating in Thomas, but then suddenly the creature growled and then pulled it's murky body out of the room before continuing it's wrecking spree down the hallway.

Letting out a sigh of relief, Thomas returned his gaze to Alex. "What the hell happened?"

"The Flara made the first move." Alex replied in a somber tone. "They used one of the Cantorian powers to shatter the glass the golems were in. I don't know which one or how, but somehow they got through the defenses and set up shop. We need to get out of here right now while they are young. The second they reach maturity there will be no way we can get out."

"How did I get in here? Was it the Flara too?" Thomas asked pointing at the bed in the darkness.

"No, I carried you in here. One of the golems was being possessed, and it began sucking the life out of the ground around you, and you by affiliation. It's one of the worst ways to go. You feel your body slowly freezing, and you can't stop it. I managed to kill that golem, but when I saw you laying there with all that ice around you. I thought you had died for sure! Thank the magegod you survived!"

"Something like that..." Thomas managed to say earning him a strange glance from Alex. "The magegod came to me again while I was out. He told me that I could control my powers. He said they were built off my emotions like his, and they compound as the emotions get stronger." Alex's mouth dropped open, and Thomas looked at him in the dark confused. "What, is that bad?"

"Not by a long shot!" Alex replied with a surprising level of giddiness. "You continue to shock me Thomas!" Taking a moment to process what he had heard, Alex continued explaining after taking in a small breath. "Magic was blessed to us from the magegod long ago. He gave the power to all he could, but to his most trusted followers, he made sure they had the deepest relation with magic that they could. Most people have to concentrate on the idea of magic before they can even feel the presence of it. Then to cast it they have to focus on the spell they want as well as the incantation. In your case, you can focus on the power of your emotions and the spells will come to life without any need of incantation! That is a rare power indeed, there was only one person aside from the magegod who had that much power, he was the one who forced the planet to have two large land masses instead of eight." He paused for a second taking another breath. "Just who are you?"
