Chapter 6: Serene

(Y/n)'s POV
Vader gazed down at the people inside of his Palace. I could feel the intense rage radiating off of him like a blazing fire.
We were atop a staircase, he stood in the middle while I was behind him to his right, observing just as he had asked me to, "It appears we have a traitor." He eyed them all with disgust, "The rebels have never gotten this far and it was extremely convenient for them that I was not here." He clicked his tongue and shook his head as he stepped down the stairs slowly, "You see, I was informed that there was an attack on my Death Star, which was a lie." He began to shout louder; fear spread through the crowd below us with every step he took to get closer to them. He sighed in annoyance as he continued walking down, and I began to follow him when he gestured for me to with his finger, "I'm to blame, partially, I should have checked that the information I was given was accurate. Speaking of; where is Captain Needa?" He spat his name with such venom in his tone.
The moment he spoke his name, there was the sound of rushed footsteps. Someone was trying to flee, "Where do you think you're going?" A deep male voice pushed through the crowd and a clone appeared; holding the man in question by his shoulders. I recognized him from my first day here.
Vader shook his head at the man who looked like he was a few seconds away from relieving himself all over the floor, "Did you really think that I would lose to them; did you really think that I wouldn't figure out what you did?" He chuckled humorlessly, "It appears you're a bigger idiot than I initially thought Captain Needa." He shot his arm forward and gripped the mans neck with his gloved hand. The people behind him backed away slowly to give Vader his space, and no doubt they were afraid of getting caught in the crossfire of his temper.
I, on the other hand, got closer.
"I'm sor-" The man choked out while trying to pry the hand off of his throat, but my Masters grip tightened, cutting off his words.
"Don't beg, it's pathetic." He spat out.
I continued to watch him with intrigue. The way he makes an entire room tremble at the knees is admirable. The power and energy he gives off is compelling, and I just wanted to get closer. At one point my shoulder brushed up against his arm that was still by his side from how close I'd gotten. I saw him from the corner of my eye as he side-eyed me for a moment, before looking back to the man who was seconds from death.
"This is what happens when you go against me." He said in a loud tone for everyone one to hear. Then he grabbed his lightsaber from his belt and pierced it through the mans chest, earning a few fearful jumps from people around the room. Needa stopped moving immediately, and Vader retracted his blade while dropping the life-less body from his grasp. Needa's body crumbled to the floor in an unnatural position, "All of you, get out of my sight and begin with the clean up and repairs. I also want clones stationed at every exit." He demanded and the people began to move around at a rapid pace.
I gazed up at him, "How do you know he was the only one?" I asked, prompting him to look down at me with the same intrigued look that I was giving him.
"I would have heard it," His tone had completely shifted into a much softer one than when he was addressing his employees, "Come." He placed a hand on my shoulder and walked me upstairs. I could see the looks I was getting from the other people in the Palace as he walked with me calmly. Some confused, some curious, and some were of envy.
"I need to ask you about something that happened today." I spoke first as we entered my quarters. I wanted to talk to him about what I experienced in the throne room.
He shook his head, "Me first," He stepped closer to me, "Were you hurt at all?" He questioned.
I shook my head, "Not at all."
He nodded, satisfied with my answer, "Good, so what did you want to ask me?"
I smiled slightly, it was nice to know that he considered my well-being to be first priority. "Well when I was in the throne room, I touched it and I saw something," I spoke a little quick, but he was able to keep up as he tilted his head with curiosity, "It was a vision and well I wanted to know what that was. Is it something that we all can do and why am I barely able to do it now? Also can you do i-"
He raised a hand to cut me off. Although despite how most people might see it, there was nothing rude about his actions, he was simply calming down my racing mind, "It's called Psychometry," He used his raised hand to take my mask off and he tossed it towards my bed. He let his fingertips trail my jawline lightly, "You just get more interesting by the day, don't you?" He spoke low as he scanned my face.
I sighed at his soft touch and kept my admired eyes on him, "Can you tell me more about it?"
He nodded, "Its also called a force echo, think of it like an echo in the force, hence the name, "He shrugged as he continued, "You can touch an object and witness its history with sight, sound, and even emotions." This explains why I could feel his pain when I watched his torture, "You may be experiencing it now because you're finally becoming in touch with who you are. And It can't be done by everyone, not even I can do it, which makes you very special." His eyes squinted so I knew he was smiling at me and I smiled back, "Can I ask what you saw?" He questioned curiously.
My smiled dropped and I looked down, away from his gaze, "You, in pain." Sometimes if I think back on it, it's like I can feel it all over again.
He placed a hand under my chin and lifted my face to meet his gaze once more, "Elaborate for me."
"I saw a man, an old man in the throne. You were at his feet and he was hurting you with-"
"Force lightning," He finished the sentence for me with the proper name of the ability. He dropped his hand from my chin and my skin felt cold from the loss of contact, "You saw a glimpse of me at my weakest, that was my Master, the first Emperor."
"What happened to him?" I asked, hoping for but not expecting an answer.
He chuckled with a hint of deviousness to it, "I gave him a taste of his own medicine by doing to him what he did to his Master, I cut his throat in his sleep." He spoke with so much joy in his voice, like talking about it alone was allowing him to relive the moment, thus relishing in it.
I smiled at his joy, "Good, he deserved it after what I saw." I didn't even feel bad for saying it either, it was like I was feeling same amount of joy as him. Both of us broke free from the people who tore us down.
"I have a question for you, it's similar to one you asked me in this very room," I nodded; indicating him to continue, "You asked me why I didn't kill you, now I'm curious as to why you accepted my offer." He brought his hand up and gently touched my face again, he does this a lot, I was getting the feeling that he enjoyed being the only one that was allowed to touch me. It was like he was marking his territory, while mocking everyone else.
I tilted my head, "Do you really need to ask? Let's not pretend you weren't in my head the day we met."
"Humor me."
I obliged to his request, "There were three reasons; One, I wanted to know more about what I could do. Two, you probably would have killed me if I picked the other choice," He slowly nodded showing me my hunch was correct, "And three, because of what you're doing now." I side-eyed his hand that was still on me, "You were the first person, besides Shmi, who treated me gently. Every time you touch me, even when we first met and you hardly knew me, you were easy; like I'm a fragile piece of glass that will shatter if you're not careful enough. It showed me that despite the darkness I felt from you, your intentions with me weren't vile, but serene."
Once I finished explaining my reasons, I expected him to say something, but he didn't. He stared down at me silently for what felt like achingly long minutes. Then he inhaled and exhaled softly, "Get some sleep, you're having your surgery tomorrow." He dropped his hand and went to leave the room.
Hold on, not only did this conversation take a completely different side street, you don't just tell someone they have surgery casually.
"I'm sorry, what? Why am I having surgery and why was I not informed of this?"
He turned to look at me over his shoulder with a slightly annoyed expression, "I told you a few days ago, but you were too busy lost in your wonderland of a mind to pay attention." Now I'm remembering the moment he was talking to me a few days ago in the training room, but my mind was occupied by his sweaty bare chest as it glistened from the ceiling lights. It's not my fault I couldn't pay attention, he should've kept his shirt on, I'm still a woman after all, "I'm getting that chip out of your head."
~*~•~*~
I laid down nervously on the bed with Vader standing next to me, "You'll be fine, I promise." He assured me as a nurse came in and began placing an IV in my arm.
I looked up at him with fear filled eyes when she pressed the needle in my arm, "What if it explodes when they're removing it?" I'm not just being an irrational nervous wreck, there is a high possibility of that happening.
He shook his head pushed my chest down e so I would lay completely in the bed, "Trust me, that won't happen."
I tried breathing slowly to calm myself down, but I was failing miserably, "How do you know that?"
"Because this is the same crew that removed mine."
I nodded, looking away and feeling a sense of relief.. until I realized what he just said, I snapped my eyes up again, "What did you say?"
I saw his eyes wide, like he realized he said something that he hadn't meant to, "I didn't say anything."
I narrowed my eyes, "Yes you did, you just said that they removed your chip too. As in a slaves chip?" Was he a slave like me, is that why I reminded him of himself?
He shook his head, "You're hearing things, it's from the drugs." He looked away from me and I glanced over to the nurse who was still getting the anesthesia ready.
"They haven't even put anything in yet." I responded in an accusing tone as my eyes landed on him once more.
He sighed; keeping his eyes off of me, "Nurse, hurry up." He demanded. She immediately rushed to me and began to inject the anesthesia.
It burned and I began to feel myself drifting away slowly, but I kept my eyes on him, "We are so not done talking about this." I mumbled weakly.
I finally closed my eyes and fell into unconsciousness.
