"It doesn't matter how strong you are. Toman has your back."

I know someone will pick up a reference somewhere in this chapter-

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hello?"
My ears perked up the moment my friend picked up the phone. "Yuzuha, where have you been?"
"Y/n?" She asked, her voice sounded tired and sleepy. "Hey, sorry for not being very active these last few days and not picking up the phone..." She spoke as if she already knew what I was going to ask. "I've been running a fever, so I spend most of my time resting." Her voice was slightly hoarse.
My smile slightly fell as I held the phone against my ear, resting on my bed and staring outside the window. "Oh, okay I get it... How are you feeling right now? I was worried you had been kidnapped or something." I joked. She chuckled on the other side of the call.
"Don't worry. I'm doing better but I still haven't fully recovered. Anyways, what's up?"
I had called her with the intention of telling her that I was back and surprising her. I had been curious as to why she hadn't picked up the phone these last few days, but apparently she was running a fever.
"Well, I have some news..." I began. "I'm back. I'm in Japan at home."
Yuzuha went quiet, before she coughed a bit and then spoke in a surprised tone. "No way! When did you- Are you for real? You're back?! Why didn't you say anything about coming back earlier silly??"
I laughed, "I kinda wanted to surprise you... Yeah, I'm back but you know what-? You should go back to sleeping now. You need to rest and get well as soon as possible so we can finally hang out! I missed you."
"You know if I didn't have a sore throat I would have probably been screaming right now, right?"
"Yuzuha, you better not." I laughed again. She was not even the type of person to yell and scream in happiness, but the way she said that was quite amusing. "I missed you too Y/n, I can't wait to get better. We'll definitely hang out when I do."
"Of course, don't forget to give me a call then."
----------------------------------
H/n and I decided to spend some quality time together.
The two of us went for a walk together while it was still early and sunny. We asked our parents to join us if they wanted, but they were both busy with their work, so we ended up going just the two of us.
We took our stop at a small, yet nice park nearby and sat on a bench together, in order to take a break from the walk. Birds were singing, flowers were blooming... On days like these, people like us taking walks outside in such warm weathers deserved some rest. There were also some children playing around in the park.
"Phew, it's so hot today." H/n sighed and leaned backwards on the bench and stretched his arms over the bench while I used my hand as a fan to cool my neck. On a short distance, I noticed a small stall that offered cool drinks. "Hey, I'll go fetch us something to drink." I motioned and got up, grabbing some of my money and chose two cold drinks to help us cool down a bit.
I placed my cold drink against my neck and I felt myself naturally smiling and sighing from relief as I held my brother's on my other hand. I made my way back to my brother.
I curiously stared at the bench where H/n was not by himself. Now, a guy with lavender eyes and short silver-lilac hair was standing next to my brother, a smile on his face and hands inside his pockets. What surprised me was the two little girls hugging my brother happily, as he had his arms wrapped around them affectionately with a calm smile.
I approached them with a small, friendly smile as the new guy's attention was brought to me.
"I'm back with the drink- Hi..." I placed the two drinks on the bench and greeted the three of them.
The two little girls looked up at me in pure shock, as if they just saw magic happening right in front of them.
"That's my sister, Y/n." H/n introduced me to them. Mitsuya smiled at me. "Nice to meet you." His voice was very warm and nice and his manners were very polite. "Y/n," H/n leaned his elbow against my shoulder and looked at me, "This is Takashi Mitsuya. He is my commander. The leader of the Second Division in Toman I told you about." He told me.
Right, I did remember him mentioning someone named Mitsuya Takashi. I knew that H/n was a member in Toman, but it was so shocking to me that he was in the second devision and that I just met it's captain.
The guy in front of me did not give me any deliquent vibes. He was charming, quite handsome and very friendly looking. Plus, he looked stylish and he was not scary in any way. But at the same time, neither did H/n or Mikey look scary.
Baji on the other hand definitely looked like the deliquent type, but anyways-
"It's a pleasure to meet you, my brother has a lot of respect for you!" I bowed down to him in respect after swallowing. Mitsuya let out a soft laugh and closed his eyes. "No need for formalities."
The two girls appeared right in front of me, each girl holding my hand. "Hi pretty lady! I'm Luna!" The taller and elder girl said to me, staring at me with her pink eyes. She had long pink hair tied up in pigtails. "I'm Mana.." The other smaller girl said, whose blonde hair was tied back in two cute buns. Her eyes were a bit more purplish. "We're Taka's sisters!" They were so pretty!
I blushed at the compliment I was given and smiled at them softly. "Hi girls, I'm Y/n." I said, my voice becoming a bit higher in pitch. "Wanna play with us?" Mana asked, her big eyes pleading me.
I was a bit caught off guard by this, but I smiled a bit nervously and nodded, giving the two boys a swift glance. "Sure."
Mitsuya said something towards his sisters, but they were quick to drag me to the park towards the swings, so Mitsuya was ignored.
For the next fifteen to twenty minutes, H/n and Mitsuya were occupying the bench from before and having conversations that I could only assume were gang related. As much as I was curious to hear what they had to say, their gang issues did not really have anything to do with me.
Plus, I was too busy babysitting Mitsuya's younger sisters as I would gently push them in the swings as they very kindly asked me to. They would start with the basic questions kids would ask, 'What's your favorite color?' 'What animals do you like?' 'Do you like school?' 'Do you draw?' and all the simple questions you could think of. It was nice. The girls were very sweet and it was incredible how quickly they seemed to accept me being around them and have so much fun. We spent the rest of the time talking, until Mitsuya and H/n approached us.
"Girls, it's time to go now." Their elder brother called out, causing the girls to groan in disappointment. They looked at me and I only returned a smile as I slowly stopped the swings from swinging. "It's okay, you need to listen to your brother." "Next time we want to play again in the swings with you!" Luna said. I looked at her and smiled before I helped them get off the swings.
H/n looked at me. "Mikey called a meeting with Toman, so Mitsuya and I will have to go." I stared at him as he said so.
It hadn't even been long till I came back to Japan, so it was not like a long time had passed since I last communicated with Mikey. But I didn't get to see him up close so far. As far as I knew by Emma, he was very busy with the gang and Draken, so he was not home that much. But it did not change the fact that I wanted to see my friend again.
Luna and Mana immediately took my hands as we walked. I was right in the middle, each girl on my side. On the other side H/n was walking with Mitsuya. The two girls would happily hop every now and then and would shoot me a few smiles, which I would return as they did so.
"We have to get changed in our gang uniforms first." I heard Mitsuya tell my brother. "I'll take Luna and Mana home, get changed and I'll come to the meeting with my motorcycle."
"Same, I'll take Y/n home, change and take my motorcycle as well. I don't feel like walking further for today." H/n said, before I looked at the two and decided to ask something.
"Can I come too?"
Both of them looked at me in surprise. "What? Why?" H/n asked.
I looked down a bit embarassed. "I just- I just wanted to see Mikey... I haven't seen him for so long. I missed him." I said. And it was true, Mikey was the main reason why I wanted to go with them. But it would be a lie to say that I was not curious about this.
"Y/n, I don't want you assosicated with the gang-" "Let her come along." Mitsuya interrupted my brother and he smiled at me. We both looked at Mitsuya, I looked at him with a bit of an excited and thankful look while H/n seemed confused. "It's fine H/n, she will be safe with the gang. After all, you two are our people." Mitsuya said as we walked, his sisters either being quiet or speaking to each other. "Even Emma sometimes comes along and nobody bothers her. In fact, she will be alright." Mitsuya reassured my brother, to which he nodded. "Got it."
At some point, we made a stop on our way. It was time for us to be separated. H/n and I would go to our house so H/n would get changed and we would leave with the motorcycle and Mitsuya would take his sisters home, but...
"Nooooo!" Mana complained and clung onto my arm. She had a frown on her face and she closed her eyes, shaking her head. "I don't want Y/n to leave!" She complained. Luna held onto my arm too and pouted, looking at her brother. "Can Y/n please come home with us?" I looked at the girls in surprise. Woah, these two barely knew me and within half an hour they already got attached.
H/n, Mitsuya and I exchanged glances. I looked down at the girls and smiled nervously. "Girls, it's okay, we could perhaps hang out another time. Your brother has to get prepared and I would not want to be a bother-"
"You could come with us if you want." Mitsuya said calmly, making me look at him in surprise. "I don't mind," He shrugged and looked at the sky, towards the sun that was setting. "You could keep my sisters company as I get ready and then I could take you to the meeting with my motorcycle right after. Only if you want to, no pressure." He said, emphasizing the last words and looking at his sisters, as if to show that whether I went along with them or not was based on my choice and feelings as well.
I stared at Mitsuya and then glanced at my brother. He gave me a small shrug and a nod, as if to show me that it was okay.
I would not just agree to go to a boy's house like that, especially someone's that I did not know of. But this guy was a friend of my brother and the leader of his division. The two had known each other for as long as I was away and Mitsuya was a very reliable and great person based on what I had heard. If my brother trusted Mitsuya and if he even trusted me with him, I was alright with it.
Obviously, there would not really be any logic of me to go with Mitsuya for no reason, but apparently his sisters took a great liking to me and they really wanted me to go with them.
"Alright," I shrugged and looked at the girls, approving. Their faces flashed with happiness as they cheered playfully, making everybody smile at their innocent childish behavior. "Okay then. But she will only come with us if you promise not to complain when she and I have to leave." Mitsuya ordered his sisters, to which they playfully saluted like two soldiers. He smiled and hummed.
"Okay, you guys go and we'll meet at Musashi Shrine later." H/n waved at us as he left by himself to go home, while the two sisters kept holding my hands as we walked, Mitsuya right next to us as we were walking to their house.
During the short walk to their house, Luna and Mana were so interested in talking to me which did not leave enough room for Mitsuya to ask me that much about me, so we ended up talking about cartoons until we reached the house.
--------------------------------
Shortly, we four entered Mitsuya's house and we removed our shoes.
Mitsuya put his hands on his hips and looked at his sisters. "Okay girls, you go wash your hands first and then you get to play with Y/n while I take a quick shower and go change. When we leave, you'll take a shower, eat and go to bed. I don't want to return and see you on the television instead of sleeping." He told them and I was staring at him in surprise and admiration. He was acting like a parent to the two.
"Okay!" The two girls nodded and quickly rushed to the bathroom to wash their hands. Mitsuya smiled at me. "Make yourself comfortable." He said as I sat on the couch, looking around the house. It was small but rather modern. "Do you three live by yourselves?" I asked. "Our mum lives with us too. But she is absent most of the time for work." Mitsuya said as he made his way over to the kitchen and brought me a cup of water. I thanked him and took a sip.
"So you take care of them most of the time?" I asked and he nodded. "Yeah, most of the time." "I could tell. You're like a parent figure to them. Isn't it a bit difficult at times, though?" I asked, which he gave me a soft smile. "Yeah, it does get tiring. But it's worth it. Plus, I love my sisters a lot. They mean the world to me." His words made my heart feel warm.
Then, the girls ran out of the bathroom after washing their hands and they ran to me. "Let's play! Let's play!" They chanted. Mitsuya chuckled. "I won't take long to get ready. You three play along for now." He said before he made his way to another room, leaving me alone with the two girls. We got comfortable on the couch and they brought some dolls and stuffed animals on the couch and started sharing them with me. "Woah, these look gorgeous!" I complimented their toys, as I saw some dolls that would be on different commercials on television but a few ones that also looked a bit old and handmade.
"Taka made these two!" Luna pointed at two of the old dolls. I gently took them on my hands. "He did?" "Yeah." Mana nodded and Luna continued again. "He sew them for us when we were younger." I looked at the girls in surprise. "Oh I didn't know your brother makes dolls." "He doesn't really make dolls anymore." Mana said and took one of them from my hands and gently fixed it's 'hair'. "He mostly sews clothes cause he wants to be a designer when he grows up." She said. "Ah.. What a wonderful dream." I smiled, looking at the other doll with admiration.
I got another flashback of my brother mentioning to me that Mitsuya was the one who had designed and created the Toman uniforms himself and it all made sense then.
Mitsuya really was a talented person. Someone who seemed to excel in taking care of his sisters, designing and living in the deliquent world. What a character.
As the girls and I were playing with the dolls, I caught a glimpse of Mitsuya exiting the bathroom, wearing nothing but a white towel over his waist, while his entire muscular chest was exposed. I felt myself blush slightly and I immediately looked back at the girls, not trying to look like a creep. Mitsuya in the backround used another towel for his hair and glanced at me, smiling before he went in his room. Shortly after, he was outside, wearing a black uniform which I could only guess was the gang uniform.
He started wearing some white boots and looked over at us. "Alright girls, it's time for Y/n and I to leave now."
"But she didn't even stay for long!" Luna complained. "What did we agree to before?" Mitsuya asked, crossing his arms and tilting his head at the girls. They huffed and looked down as if accepting defeat. The girls looked at me again with puppy dog eyes. "Will you come play with us again?" They begged.
I smiled and pet their heads gently. "Of course! I'd love to. It was so nice hanging out with you. But we have to leave now." With that, I wore my shoes and followed Mitsuya. We gave our quick 'bye-byes'.
"Remember what I said, you two!" Mitsuya said and with that, the two of us exited the house. The sky had already started to get dark, but the street lights were keeping the road clear.
"Sorry for my sisters, they get a bit spoiled at times." Mitsuya gave me an apologetic closed eye smile as we walked towards his motorcycle. I waved my hand at him. "Oh it's fine, they're good girls." Mitsuya hummed at my response as he mounted his bike. "They don't really get any company or friends at home, it's usually us three, so they get excited when they see a person they like. They like H/n a lot, but they got so clingy to you already." He said calmly. He then looked at me. "Hop on and hold onto me tight. First time on a motorcycle?" He asked. I slowly got on the back, making it bounce slightly and I wrapped my arms around his waist. "Nope!"
With that, he reered the engine and the speed started to accelerate, as he started driving to the destination.
-----------------------------------
Slowly, we came to a stop as the engine noises started to die down. I was surprised to see just how many different kinds of motorcycles were parked around us. There were so many!
Mitsuya and I dismounted his bike and he glanced at a specific one. He smiled and pointed at it. "That one is your brother's. He got here before us." He noted and then motioned me to follow him with his head.
The more we were walking to the Shrine, the more nervous I was getting and especially upon hearing the many rough voices of men. "Don't let them scare you." Mitsuya said with a smile. "Our men would never hurt girls. Especially not after they see you with me and learn you have connections with our people." He said. I hummed and nodded at him, instinctively walking a bit closer to him so I could be on his side.
As we reached to the destination, there were many men dressed in the same Toman uniforms, talking, fooling around and everything. I almost felt overwhelmed by all this, cause I saw so many strangers and people who looked scary and violent. But Mitsuya was extremely calm, and I naturally found comfort in being around him. Although it would have helped a lot if I managed to find my brother in this chaos. Would Baji be there too somewhere?
Upon being noticed by many men, many turned their gaze on me. I mostly avoided eye contact with everyone due to my intense anxiety, it was as if I was slowly regretting my decision to come along. It felt scary and I did not dare look at anyone, as if I was scared of their faces. However, they all turned their bodies towards Mitsuya and they all bowed down in lines and loudly greeting the captain of the second devision.
Mitsuya did not pay attention to anyone as he gave me a supportive smile and we kept walking, as everyone made space for Mitsuya -and I- to pass. I was sure that many would comment about who the hell I was or what I was doing here.
I felt great relief when I saw the face of my brother looking around and finally spotting me. He gave me a smile and Mitsuya also noticed I found my brother. "You go ahead to your brother now. I have to go with the rest of the captains." Mitsuya said. "Okay, thank you!" I said quickly as he turned his back and started leaving and disappearing in the crowd. I looked back at my brother and quickly made my way to him, careful not to bump into anyone on the way.
My brother was also wearing the gang uniform, as expected. I felt so out of place now. I was the only girl present and the only one without a gang uniform, it was so awkward. "You okay there?" He asked me. "Yeah," I replied. "It's just.. crazy. There's so many people here." He wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "Don't worry."
H/n pointed at some stairs above in front of us. "This is where Mikey and Draken will appear during the meeting." "What is the meeting about?" I asked. He shrugged at me. "I don't know." He either really didn't know, or he knew but he did not feel like explaining things to me.
"Alright, everyone gather up, the meeting is beginning!"
A powerful, deep voice was heard.
H/n lifted his chin and smiled in admiration. "Draken."
All of a sudden, every single member along with my brother took their stances in lines, everyone standing like a soldier with their hands on their sides as they all created a small like path, a straight line/road, all empty with no single obstacle for the people approaching to walk through.
"GOOD EVENING, COMMANDER!"
I almost jumped when everybody yelled this together and bowed down. Instinctively, I bowed down by my brother's side, to the point where I was staring down on the ground, just looking at it and a few rocks every here and there. A few seconds later, I slowly raised my head a bit to peak.
On the road everyone created for the 'commander', a few people started walking and heading towards the front.
My eyes widened when the first person I could see was none other than Manjiro Sano. His uniform tied over his shoulders, a white shirt underneath, hands in pockets and his blonde hair had grown longer. He had an expressionless look on his face as he walked. His big, black eyes were focused on the front. He did not even glance around his surroundings. Right behind him was a rather tall and familiar looking person.
Blonde hair tied back, a dragon tattoo on his scalp...
The more I focused on him and inspected his appearance, the more familiar he was getting. I knew based on Emma's description that this was this 'Draken' guy I would hear often, but something about him...
Realization hit me. He was the same guy who helped me win the bunny plushy for Emma.
This guy was Draken. Ken Ryuguji.
She was right when she said he looked dangerous and scary... He had this stern, threatening look on his face. But he was also handsome. He definitely looked like a bad boy like she told me and I would have believed that if it weren't for her telling me how nice, sweet and caring he was on the inside.
Or at least, in certain occasions.
He was the epitome of 'never judge a book by it's cover', as she told me once in her words.
Somewhere in the back were a couple of more people. I was surprised to see Baji walking as well, but at the same time I remembered that he was literally the captain of the First Devision, so it was not a shock of him to be there. Behind him was Mitsuya, and then there was a guy with closed eyes, a smile on his face and his hair was very fluffy and orange following them. He looked familiar... The last guy had blonde hair, a scar around his lower lip and chin and he was a bit big looking. I did not recognize this one. I could only assume these were the Division captains. Baji was the captain of the first decision, Mitsuya was the captain of the second devision. Draken was the vice-president and finally Mikey - The leader of the gang.
All them took their own places, none of them -thankfully- noticing me, while Mikey walked up some of the stairs, Draken a bit behind him, standing all proud and strong, hands behind his back. Both of them were facing the entire gang.
All members raised from their bowing position and faced their leader, along with H/n and I. Since I had no idea what I was doing, I could only follow my brother's steps as to 'fit in'. But the situation really was awkward, a bit scary even. I was so out of place and I was definitely noticed by people around me, but surprisingly nobody was saying a word. Most likely because the captain was holding a meeting at the moment and H/n was right next to me. At the same time, considering how H/n and I were identical twins, it was not hard for them to figure it out themselves enough for them not to question my presence.... or threaten me in any way.
As I was lost in thought and staring up at Mikey... All of a sudden we made eye contact. He stared at me and looked my way, the soft wind blowing against the side of his face making his hair flow and jacket a bit. I blinked and my eyes softened as for a second, everything was dead quiet and it felt as if it was just the two of us looking at each other.
I was comparing the image of Mikey today and Mikey four years ago in my mind. He had grown taller, more muscular and his hair had grown. I could only guess that he was imagining something similar with me and processing my presence there.
A soft smile appeared on his face. He kept looking at me inside the eyes and from the distance we were at, he raised an inviting hand my way. "Y/n, wanna come here?" He asked softly.
Everybody was left confused and they started looking at each other and then me. The gangsters that never noticed me now did and all the attention was on Mikey and I. I felt myself tense up a bit and feel weird from all the attention that was thrown my way. The last thing I expected was for Mikey to notice me and tell me to go to him. And in the middle of the gang meeting, too?!
My body moved on it's own the moment my brother gave me a nod and I started walking to him, not taking my eyes off of him. I slowly walked up the stairs his way, him smiling at me and Draken behind him looking down at me. I could not tell his expression, since I avoided making eye-contact with him.
The moment I got close, he turned his body to face me, his hands still in his pockets as he stared at me.
"You've grown taller."
He told me. I stared at him, obviously feeling uncomfortable, knowing were were being watched by so many people. Nevertheless, I gave him a smile. I wanted to hug him, but I did not know whether it would be appropriate right there and okay with him. "You too, Mikey."
Mikey beat me to it, cause he pulled one hand out of his pocket and wrapped his entire strong arm around me and pulled me in for a hug against him. I quickly hugged him back and closed my eyes, feeling myself happy and relaxed. "It's nice to have you back, Y/n-chi. We missed you."
"I missed you a lot." I whispered to him. He pulled away from me and turned to face the gang again, standing all proud. "Y/n, H/n's sister, is my friend and family." Mikey spoke loudly to everybody, glancing at me for a second, giving me a reassuring smile as if he could sense my discomfort. Many people started whispering to each other. He looked back at the gang. "From now on, Y/n is part of this family." He smiled. "Toman. Treat her well with respect and take care of her."
Everybody bowed down in synchronization. "YESSIR!" They all yelled in great determination and respect.
Mikey looked at me with a closed eye smile and then placed his hand behind the back of my head and brought my forehead and face next to his and spoke in my ear. "As you can tell, I'm a bit busy at the moment." He told me, which was quite clear. After all, as the leader of Toman it was his duty to be professional with the gang, so he should not have distractions, especially during meetings. "Sorry Y/n-chi, I promise to make time for you tomorrow. Go to your brother and tell him to take you home. We're going out tomorrow, don't arrange anything else."
He let me pull away and I smiled at him and nodded. "Okay." I then quickly turned back and started going down the stairs, heading to my brother, who heard of Mikey's words to take me home. He gave a bow down to Mikey and Draken and the two of us started walking away from the meeting point, approaching my brother's bike.
H/n smiled at me. "I could tell that he was trying to hold back from acting like a goofy dumbass for you right in front of the gang." He suddenly spoke the moment we were out of everyone's sight.
"Huh?" I blinked. "He looked calm to me." "He was trying to look serious and professional in front of the gang." H/n said. "He is the Invincible Mikey, after all." He had his hands in his pockets as he pulled out his keys. "Mikey rarely gets distracted during any meetings and change topics. The fact that he brought you up the moment he saw you shows just how he was trying to keep his excitement down. He would not have paid any attention to you if he was not that excited about you during the meeting. He only focuses on what and which people he considers important enough for him." H/n snickered. "It shows how much of a soft spot he has for you."
My cheeks and heart felt warm as I was walking alongside him. I felt myself grinning like an idiot. I scratched the back of my neck, "I think you're exaggerating..." "Nah." He denied it. "He was so happy to see you he even introduced you to the entire gang! Did you see what he said? He told everyone you're family and told them to take care of you. How cool is that? You're not even a member, either." "Shuddup, you're making me blush!" I laughed as he teased me.
Mikey had definitely grown, which was expected but at the same time not. He looked more serious and mature and there was this look of authority and pride in his eyes and expression. After all, he had to look and act like the leader he was. But no matter how much he changed during the years considering everything, he was still the same Mikey I always knew.
------------------------------------
"Y/n-chiiin!~"
An up-beat, high pitched voice was heard and I was immediately locked in a strong bear hug by Mikey the moment I stepped out of my house.
I yelped and held onto him as he twirled me around, as if afraid that I was going to fall. He pulled away from me and kept holding my shoulders, a huge smile on his face and his eyes closed. "I missed you so much, you look amazing!"
Yeah, forget whatever I said about him being serious and stern.
The moment I stepped out of my house to go out with him the following day, he almost started behaving like a happy puppy that hadn't seen it's owner in a while. Nothing like how he looked last night with the gang. H/n was probably right about him containing his happiness. He looked so calm when he saw me back there. His voice was warm and soft sounding. He was finally expressing his contained happiness of seeing me again now that we were not being with any gangsters.
Well, except Draken.
Draken was standing just a bit away from Mikey in casual clothes, but he was one of the people Mikey could really be comfortable and be himself around with. So that's why he did not mind getting silly and affectionate with me in front of him, something he apparently wouldn't do much around everyone.
"I missed you too Mikey, I'm glad to be back." I returned a happy smile to him. "You've changed a bit yourself. You look great!"
Mikey patted my head. "Cute as always!"
Mikey then gently pushed me in front of Draken. I almost froze upon Draken locking his gaze on me. It almost felt as if every single part of me was being inspected by those dark eyes. Mikey patted my shoulders softly. "This is Ken-chin, and Ken-chin meet Y/n." Mikey introduced us briefly to each other.
Draken looked down at me, staring at me for a few moments, before letting a soft chuckle. "Mikey and Emma were right." He said, his voice low.
I just smiled a bit awkwardly, not being quite sure what this was supposed to mean or if this was a compliment, but I decided not to ask. "Pleased to meet you. I've heard a lot about you." Draken said politely. This guy looked very scary, yet he spoke with so much politeness. I gave him a small nod and a smile. "Likewise."
Based on the way he was talking to me and looking at me, I could only assume that he did don't recognize me from that time he helped me with the plushy. I decided it would be wise not to bring this up, cause I didn't want to make this awkward. Plus, it would be better if he didn't remember me as the one being terrible in that claw machine. But at the same time, maybe it could be an opportunity to begin small-talk? After all, when Mikey told me he would come pick me up from my house to hang out with me, he never mentioned bringing anyone else with him.
Emma had already described how Draken looked like to me, and she was right on him looking very scary but also handsome. I could definitely see why she liked him and it was funny to picture a cute looking girl like Emma with a very tall and scary guy like Draken. Especially considering the fact that he was a deliquent. Normally, I would have felt protective over my friend for this, but I had heard a lot about Draken from Emma, Mikey and H/n and from what I could tell he was a very reliable and kind person. So I trusted their words.
Mikey then wrapped his arm around my shoulder lazily and started dragging me somewhere, Draken casually following right by his side, hands in pockets and nose raised a bit high. Mikey had a big grin on his face. He sighed deeply and looked at me from the side. "You know, this brings me back to the good old days." He mentioned, having flashbacks in his mind of us being kids and playing around outside or in each other's houses. Mikey and I would rarely hang out just the two of us. We were usually accompanied by H/n, Baji and Emma.
"There's no flag!"
Mikey frowned, leaned back on his seat and he pointed down at his kid's meal, right where he was expecting a little flag. The waiter, Draken and I just stared at Mikey acting like a child. The waiter looked nervous and Draken looked like he had been through this multiple times before.
"I only get excited over the kid's meal when there's a flag!" He pouted angrily and turned his face my way and closing his eyes. I was sitting right next to him and I did not have any idea how to react in that situation. It was so comical yet shocking of Mikey. It was not much of a surprise for me to see him acting so childish even after all those years, but I geniuenly did not expect him to get... upset and bratty over something like this. A flag on a meal.
Although, it is Mikey we are talking about.
"I'm terribly sorry, I'll get one for you-" The waiter began to apologize, yet Draken cut him off. He was sitting there politely, eyes closed and back straightened like a gentleman on his seat. He snuck his hand inside his jacket and... he pulled a little flag with a red, a green and a yellow stripe on it. He stuck it against the meatball. "Here you go, Mikey." He spoke flatly, his voice low and toneless as if he was used to following the same routine over and over again. "Your flag."
Mikey, who looked like a child that convinced it's parent to get him his favorite expensive toy from the shop, looked down at his plate again. He turned towards his food immediately, his eyes shining with nothing but pure happiness as he laughed happily, placing his palms against the table with force. "Hahahahaa!!! Way to go, Ken-chin! ♡"
The waiter simply stood there, looking at the scene and having no idea how to react. Shock and confusion were written all over his features. He quietly proceeded to give Draken and I our orders before he bowed and left.
I stared at Draken and his jacket, just wondering what else he could be hiding there. Or perhaps, just how many flags he could have kept there for emergencies such as today just for Mikey.
Best friend goals for real.
"Hm? What are you laughing at?" Draken asked me before he took a bite of his food, noticing my giggling. My cheeks turned red and I let myself leave a breathy chuckle. "Nothing- I just find it.... very amusing." I said and looked back at Mikey who had long forgotten about us and stuffing his mouth with food. He was clearly enjoying it. I smiled and resisted the urge to pet him on the top of his head. He looked so cute and happy!
"Sometimes I keep forgetting how childish Mikey is." I commented, to which Mikey reacted by sticking his tongue out at me for a second. I smiled and spoke before eating. "I missed this." I mumbled quietly.
Draken simply stared at me as he also ate his food, unblinking. Who knows what he was thinking about.
At some point, I spoke again, changing the conversation. "What's it like to be in a gang? And be the leaders?"
Mikey was finishing his food. He stopped and looked at me with a proud smile. "It's a dream come true." He closed his eyes and glanced at Draken. "There is nothing better than having all my friends with me and helping me create the best era of deliquents." He looked back at me. "Toman is a family. And soon, we will achieve Tokyo domination!" He grinned and kept eating.
Although he sounded childish saying those things, Mikey was genuine. And so was his love for Toman and the dreams he had for the future. "You're part of the family too, you know." Mikey said quietly, his cheeks stuffed, glancing at his food as he munched it. His black eyes were narrowed down and there was a gentle smile on his face. "It doesn't matter how strong or weak you are. Toman has your back." He took a big bite of his food.
I looked over at Draken and he gave a respectful nod and took his turn to speak. "You don't get to fight, though. You stay out of the trouble." He said, as if he was scolding me in a way. "You don't even look like a fighter to me." He said bluntly. My eyebrow twitched a bit. "Heh.... thanks."
"Don't take it personally, Y/n-chi." Mikey patted my head with a closed eye smile, some food stuck on his bottom lip and cheek. "Ken-chin has a lot of respect for women and he doesn't want you or Emma to get hurt."
Draken clicked his tongue and crossed his arms, looking away. "Idiot, you make me sound soft." Probably because deep down you are, dumbass.
"But Ken-chin, Y/n used to train with me. She wasn't bad." Mikey made his attempt to defend me, which made me raise an eyebrow slightly. I still had memories of Mikey and Baji teasing me back in the days we were little children and practicing at grandpa Sano's dojo. But no matter what, they had my back and they were always there to support me.
"Say, Y/n," Mikey gained my attention. "Do you still practice the things we used to?" I looked down at my food and hummed. "No, not really... But it would be nice to." I said quietly and scratched my arm and raised my gaze up at the two again. "I wouldn't mind learning how to fight and defending myself again. It's been a while." Mikey grinned. Draken scoffed, but then he closed his eyes and a grin appeared on his face. "Good to see your determination. But don't think you will get to join gang fights any time soon."
Well, I wasn't planning on it.
All of a sudden, I felt a weight on my shoulder and blonde hair coming on my vision a bit. I blinked and looked next to me, to see a snoring Mikey stuck on my side, his head resting on my shoulder and his hands wrapped around my arm. I sat there with a cartoonish confused smile. Mikey's mouth was open and he was snoring soundly.
"Y/n.... chi...." And then... His head fell straight onto my lap, and he had managed to curl comfortably on the little couch of the shop on my lap and fell asleep.
Draken groaned angrily, a vein popping in his forehead as he gritted his teeth. "That's it! I've had it!" His eye and the corner of his lips twitched in annoyance. "Would you stop falling asleep right after you eat? And you slept on Y/n!" Draken scolded, although he knew Mikey could not hear him. "Jeez..." He sighed. "Sorry about this." I waved my hand and smiled, closing my eyes softly. "Ah, no need to. He used to do this in the past, too. I honestly forgot he does that." I looked down at Mikey softly and gently caressed the side of his head. "Same old Mikey."
Draken watched the two of us, before humming softly. He proceeded to get up and walked on our side of the couch. "Here, lemme take 'im." He said before he reached to Mikey's body and lifted him off of me with no difficulty. Mikey groaned a bit in his sleep but immediately got comfortable on Draken's back, who supported him from his legs. To be fair, it was not so bad having Mikey sleep close to me. It was not the first time, after all. We used to have many sleepovers as kids and we were used to each other's presence. It felt very comforting to see that he still felt alright enough to sleep so close to me like to me like that and drop his guard.
Draken looked at me and gave me the signal that it was time to leave with a nod. After making sure we had paid, I got up and walked right by Draken's side.
All of a sudden as we exited the shop, Mikey grunted in his sleep softly and... he reached his hand my way, as if expecting me to hold it. I smiled and snickered at this gesture. So, was Mikey really asleep after all?
Of course, I held his hand and Mikey smiled in his 'sleep' -well he actually could be sleeping for real- and he had his other arm around Draken's neck. Draken side smiled and rolled his eyes.
"God, he's hopeless."
The Haitani brothers stared at each other silently, sitting right in front of each other on the table. Everybody around them stared at the two in pure fear, anxiety and shock - especially the taller, braided brother.
"Rindou." Ran spoke softly. "I just got slapped by a girl."
"There's always a first time for anything." Rindou sighed, taking a sip of his drink. "Seriously though, that girl was either nuts to do this, or she had no idea who we were." Rindou said and placed the drink down, leaning backwards on the seat and looking around him, a blank, bored expression on his face. He and his brother were powerful and hence why he was not so phased with his brother being slapped. In a normal circumstance, he would have felt irritated by the act of someone or someone like her showing such disrespect and slapping his dear brother, whom he had been through so much and raised together. Ran, however, really had irritated the two girls, so he could not deny the fact that Ran probably deserved the slap, in a way. After all, it took more than a slap from a random girl to hurt Ran or Rindou in any way or form.
"From the way she spoke to me, I'm certainly sure she was not educated enough about our power and did not recognize us as the rulers of Roppongi," Ran said in his slow, soft tone and gently pushed one of his braids backwards with his gloved hand, sitting on the simple looking chair like a king. "Shame. The girls who do recognize us either fangirl and fawn all over us for attention or money, or run away screaming in fear." He gently took a tissue and gently patted the corner of his lips. He then gave his brother a closed eye smile, both not caring about anyone around them. They were unimportant.
"She was pretty," Rindou raised an eyebrow upon hearing his brother say this out of nowhere. "It was a bit hilarious of her to do that, I give her points for her reckless bravery. How nice of her protecting her friend." Ran sighed softly with a smile, closing his eyes and taking another sip of his drink before placing the empty cup down. "Kind of reminds me of us." Ran said, making them both remember their childhood days where the two would be there for each other. As the elder brother, however, Ran would take the role of the protective brother raising Rindou to be a strong, careful and healthy young man. Always being by his side and sticking with him no matter the situation. The Roppongi brothers were inseparable. That's why he could not help but feel some sort of respect to the girl that was willing to stick up to her friend, even if she were in such a disadvantage.
Rindou had his elbows rested on the table, his arms raised up and one hand on top of the other touching, resting his chin on top of them and staring at his elder brother. "It's unlike of you to speak that way about a girl, dear brother." The younger sibling noted, clearly picking up on the fact that it was a first for Ran to show such interest in a girl, despite the countless female fans the two had. Their natural beauty and the amount of effort they both put in their looks and charm, aside from their health and power, granted them with the power to have pretty much any girl they wished to, if not multiple at the same time - at least the ones that were willing and not afraid. But neither of them really cared much or found any kind of interest in anyone specifically.
Ran chuckled. "Oh, hush. I'm just being generous and polite. Maybe genuine, too. As stupid as this scene made me, Ran Haitani, look in front of people, I actually found it all amusing. A bit fun too, if you let me." He slowly took out his phone and used the camera to start inspecting his cheek. He turned his head slightly sideways and up and down in different directions in the correct lighting, touching his cheek with another hand gently, his eyes focusing on the red spot made by the slap. "Do you think this will leave a permanent mark, brother?"
Although Ran was not serious, Rindou sighed and rubbed his temple. "No, brother. It clearly won't." He grinned. "We've been through countless brawls before and covered in blood and bruises from a young age. What makes you think a slap will leave a mark?"
"Well, it's been a very long time since we actually received any punches or kicks." Ran smiled casually. It was true, those two were so powerful together, that even if they were outnumbered, nothing would stop them from winning and dodging all of their enemies' attacks. That slap was the very first 'hit' Ran had received in a while. Or more specifically, years. "I can't be walking around with a slap mark on my face, that would be ugly and degrading for my reputation." Ran complained playfully.
Rindou casually shifted his narrowed gaze around to the rest of the customers in that coffee store. Everybody flinched and made some quiet noises from fear. Many turned their heads back down on their works and drinks, lowering their gazes and silently praying not to fall victims to the Haitani brothers' sadism and thirst for fighting, while a few others actually ran outside the store. "It seems to me that you're actually scarier this way, Ran." The younger brother teased.
Thank you for the support in the comments 🫶🏻
At some point after some chapters, I am afraid that I won't be giving specific update days cause I am catching up with the unpublished chapters and I will be needing my time to create new ones and I am unsure of how much it will be taking me to write the next ones- but anyways no worries for now-
ALSO!!!!
I had been thinking that, since it's almost summer and all that, it would be cool for me to write some hang outs of Y/n with some characters going to the beach together and have fun there cause it would be really cute and especially with summer holidays.
But then I had another idea.
What if I were to write a summer special chapter instead?
In which I would include many characters of TR all going to the beach together, all basically co-existing and having fun together, as if the whole gang wars and deaths basically never happened and all characters did not have parentless or schooless behaviors 🤗 (obv no hate or anything I'm joking- 😭)
I thought it would be very funny to write a fun, wholesome one where for once in one chapter, even not canon, the characters could just chill together and enjoy activities and do dumb shit with Y/n and finally take a breath of the chaos happening in the plot.
I think it's a nice way to bring up the summer vibes a bit and the mood, since Tokyo Revengers is not really known for being a calm anime with no chaos or deaths happening. So I want to make one wholesome chapter as my way of wishing everyone to have a great summer and hopefully make it a bit better with my updates, but also as a means of my own special thanks to everyone supporting me and my story with the likes and especially every single of your comments that means a lot to me and makes my day and motivates me more 🤗💗
I've already started writing it btw 😌 but due to this busy period I am not sure how quick I will be able to finish it, but hopefully I could publish it around... July 3rd? Alright, July 3rd it is for the Summer Special chapter 😌.
shinichiro will be there too 🫦-- and not only him ehem
Have a wonderful day/night everyone! ❤
