Chapter 6
When Ann wakes up, she's behind bars. Her entire body aches and her wings droop on the floor.
"Morning, sunshine. How'd you sleep?"
Ann whips around to see Mitch standing there, leaning against the wall.
"Let me go," she growls.
"Nope," he chuckles in response.
The demon sighs in frustration and grabs the bars of her cell, only to let go as they burn her skin.
"What the heck?" she mutters.
"Anti-demon magic. It'll burn if you touch it," Mitch replies, smirking.
"I realized."
The demon girl paces around her cell, kicking spare pieces of straw around.
"Having fun there, Ann?"
"What's your name?" Ann asks.
"Mitch..."
"No Mitch, I am not having fun. I'm in a cage with an angel watching me like a cocky bastard."
The angel grins and leans against the outside of the bars, but doesn't say anything. Ann yells in frustration and flies around the small cage, even though it makes her wings ache more.
"Don't tire yourself out, you might be here a while," Mitch says finally.
"The other demons are going to find me and kill you," Ann snarls, landing on the ground again and staring at Mitch through the bars. He laughs.
"They're really going to risk coming inside Notch's castle? I doubt it. They won't be able to get to these dungeons without strolling through the front door, and when they do that, we capture them."
The girl rustles her feathers and sits down on the ground, looking at the wall. Mitch sighs and starts walking towards the exit.
"Stop pouting. I'll come by later to bring you some food."

Mitch leaves the dungeon and sighs heavily.
"How did it go?" Jerome asks. He's standing outside the doors of the dungeon, watching his brother.
"She's a demon. How do you think it went?" Mitch asks in response.
Jerome smirks and the two of them fly to the throne room, where the other angels are listening to Notch talk. Jason's wings are healed, thanks to Quintana.
"I need you to find the other demons and kill them. We have one for questioning, which is good, but you can't be so soft with them. Already, three buildings have burnt to the ground and five people have been killed on the streets because of them. They must be stopped," the king orders.
"We've got this. We can handle them," Adam assures him.
"I believe in you. Now, go get some sleep. No night flying. The other demons are probably out looking for Ann," Notch says, smiling at the angels.
They all head to their rooms, and Mitch goes to deliver food to the prisoner. Jerome goes to his bedroom and watches the window, wanting to feel the breeze under his wings.
Eventually, he can't take it anymore. The bacca sneaks outside and jumps out of the window, letting the wind carry him. He sits down on the roof of the castle, watching the stars.
"I'm surprised to see an angel outside," someone says. Jerome spins around and sees Khali standing there, her dark wings silhouetted against the moon.
"I'm disobeying. Why do we keep running into each other?" Jerome demands.
"An angel disobeying? Never thought I'd hear that. And in answer to your question, I don't know. I was hoping it was a different angel this time," she sighs.
"So, are we going to duel again?" the angel asks. She shrugs and shakes her head.
"No, I'm just here to retrieve our demon from your dungeons."
"Not going to happen. She's staying here, and maybe, when we're done questioning her, we'll kill her," Jerome threatens.
"That would be kind of rude, don't you think?" the demon asks. He chuckles.
"What's rude is you guys killing innocent people and burning down buildings."
"Honey, it's in the job description."
"That's messed up."
"Yeah, well, what are you going to do? Anyway, I need to go tell Herobrine that you refuse to give her back," she says. "By the way, if we're going to keep running into each other, what's your name?"
"Jerome."
"I'm Khali."
Before the angel can say another word, she disappears into the night sky. He takes a deep breath and runs back inside, looking for Mitch.
As Jerome flies down the hall, he runs into Ty.
"What's got you in a hurry?" the Ender asks.
"I need to find Mitch, that's all," Jerome replies anxiously. Ty rolls his eyes, and Jerome continues his flight down the hallway.
Mitch rounds the corner and the bacca smacks into him, causing them both to fall over.
"What's gotten into you, biggums?" Mitch asks.
"There was a demon on the roof. She's going to tell Herobrine that we won't give Ann back," Jerome gasps, trying to get air back in his lungs. Mitch's face darkens, and he stands up.
"That's not good. We need to tell Notch."
