Chapter 16

"First, we evacuate the city. Make sure everyone is far from here. Herobrine will put up a fight, and a lot of people are going to die," Notch says, pulling on his cloak and putting his sword in its sheathe.

"What do we do after the town is evacuated?" Adam asks, following his king.

"After everyone is gone, go straight to Herobrine's castle, attack with the element of surprise, and make sure he's dead when the day is done. Take your siblings with you, and don't die."

Adam nods and flies to where the other angels are waiting.

"Everyone, gear up. We're going to get everyone out of the city."

They nod and grab their weapons of choice. Together, they fly into the city and sound the alarm that alerts the townspeople of attackers.

People of all ages start running from their houses, carrying a few precious things. The angels usher them towards the city gates.

"Keep moving, everyone!" Jason yells.

Adam approaches the General of the Army for the city, and the general bows his head when he sees the angel.

"Adam," he greets.

"I need you to take everyone to the nearest kingdom. They will take care of you while we make this city safe," Adam explains.

"What's going on?" the general asks.

"We're taking on Herobrine," the angel says simply. The General smiles.

"Of all the things I thought I would hear today, that is not one of them."

Adam chuckles, and the man continues to help people out of the city.

"Is everyone out of their houses?" Quintana asks.

"Yep. Jerome and I checked," Mitch replies.

Adam looks up into the sky and sees five figures zipping through the air. He grips the handle of his sword tighter and takes off into the sky. The others follow right after.

Adam's sword clashes against another, and he comes face to face with Julie. Her long brown hair is tied back in a braid and her blue green eyes are glinting.

"You're Adam, aren't you?" she asks.

"In the flesh. How do you know my name?" Adam demands.

"You're the Captain of the Angels, are you not? Herobrine ordered me to kill you first. I'm Julie, by the way. I figure you should know the name of your assassin."

"Well, well, aren't you cocky!"

Adam swings his sword at her, but she easily dodges it. They continue to attack each other, but with no avail.

"Herobrine did not lie when he said this would be a challenge!" Julie pants. Adam smirks, but doesn't reply.

Suddenly, people start screaming. The angel takes a moment to look, seeing all of the angels fighting the demons on the ground. Bodies litter the ground and the stench of blood fills the air, making Adam's stomach churn.

He looks back at Julie and blocks her sword before she can stab him.

This is going to be harder than any of them thought.
