Chapter 14

As soon as the clock strikes midnight, Justina, Julie, and Khali sneak downstairs to the dungeon. Camryn can be heard in the throne room, which makes this whole mission easier for the demons. When they get to the dungeon, Wolfie is sitting in the corner of his cell, a thin blanket wrapped around him.

"Wolfie!" Khali whispers. He looks up and runs to the bars when he sees them.

"What are you doing here?!"

"We're breaking you out and going to get Ann and Libby back," Julie explains.

"What?! That's insane!"

"We need to get them back here to prove that we aren't weak," Justina insists. Wolfie sighs and stands back from the bars.

"Fine. Break me out."

Khali picks the lock and opens the door, allowing Wolfie to leave. They then fly from the castle and head towards Notch's.

"We get in, we get Ann and Libby, and we kill any angel that gets in our way," Julie says. "Then we get back to Herobrine."

"Excellent. I've been wanting to kill some angels," Wolfie growls.

They touch down outside the castle and sneak inside. The main entrance is empty, but voices can be heard from the throne room.

Khali looks around and sees a door, slightly ajar, that opens straight to a staircase.

"This way," she whispers. The four fly and run down the stairs and stop abruptly when they reach the cells.

"Ann, Libby, we're here to save you," Wolfie whispers. They stare at the other demons from their separate cells in shock.

"How did you get past the angels?" Libby asks, saving her place in Harry Potter and putting the book down.

"They were all in the throne room. We managed to get past just fine," Julie says, smirking.

Ann just shakes her head slowly and points to the space behind them. Justina looks behind them and sees three angels standing at the entrance of the dungeon.

"Guys..." Justina warns. They all turn to look, and their eyes widen.

"What are you doing here? Trying to free our prisoners?" Jerome demands.

"Maybe we are!" Khali retorts.

"We can't let you do that."

Jason and Mitch stand on either side of the bacca, glowing dangerously.

"Just let us go," Julie says.

"No, I'm not letting you go back to Herobrine," Mitch replies, looking to her.

"Mitch..." Ann begs from behind the bars. Everyone's eyes dart to her, then to Mitch, then back to her.

"What's going on here?" Khali asks.

"I know what goes on at his castle. It's just abuse. I'm not going to let you go back there, even if you're demons," Mitch explains.

"How do you know?" Justina demands, fear wavering in her voice.

As she says this, four other angels run down the stairs and stop before they run into Mitch, Jerome, and Jason.

"All the demons and all the angels in one room. How exciting," chuckles Ty.

The demons all brace for a fight, but a few of the angels stop the others.

"Let them go," Ian insists.

"Why?" Quintana asks. "This is our chance to get rid of them once and for all. This is what Notch told us to do!"

Mitch unlocks Libby's cell, then Ann's. The angels and demons stare at him in shock as the girls leave their cells slowly and join the other demons.

"What are you doing, Mitch?" Jason asks, staring at his brother.

"Leave. Now. If you come back, we'll kill you," Adam growls. Everyone looks to him, then to Mitch, then to the former prisoners.

The demons all run from the dungeon and take off into the sky, except for Wolfie, who runs through the dark streets. Ann and Libby grin at the feeling of air on their faces and wings, but their grins don't last long.

"What's wrong?" Khali asks Ann. She shrugs.

"I don't know. There's something about that angel that I can't get past. He was so... nice to me despite everything I've done. I just don't know how to feel anymore."
