Chapter 11- Flashback
Rain thunders down, the sky grey and cold. Notch watches the town from a window, and six small angels stand at his side.
"Can we go outside?" Adam asks, flapping his small wings. Notch sighs and smiles tiredly.
"Why would you want to do that, my son? It's very cold and dangerous out there."
"I don't care! I like the rain!" the seven year old persists. Eventually, Notch caves.
"Fine, but only for a minute. I don't want you to get hurt or killed. Take your siblings."
Adam cheers, and the other little angels follow him excitedly. They run outside and play in the puddles, getting soaked to the bone.
Suddenly, a small figure falls from the sky and lands on the wet grass.
"What is that?" Jerome whispers.
"Let's go look," Quintana replies in the same hushed tone.
The six of them scuttle over and their eyes widen when they see that it's a demon. Mitch pulls out his tiny sword that resembles a dagger more than anything, but Adam stops him.
"No, don't. He's hurt."
Adam walks over to the demon child and puts his hand on his shoulder. He opens his eyes and shuffles away when he sees the angels.
"If you're going to kill me, make it quick," he pleads.
"We aren't going to kill you! We want to help you. What's your name?" Adam asks, smiling and kneeling down next to the Ender.
"Ty," the demon replies quietly. He stands up shakily, and the angel kids help him into the castle.
"Notch!" Jason calls.
"What is it?" Notch asks from around the corner. His eyes widen when he sees the demon.
"What is that thing doing in here? Kill it!"
"No, no, please don't. You can change him into an angel. I know you can," Adam pleads. Notch sighs and strokes his beard.
"Adam, you know I can't do that. He could be a traitor."
"He isn't! He's just a kid like us!" the angel with the amulet protests.
"Sir, I swear, I just want to be free from Herobrine," Ty says softly.
Notch nods, weakened by his oldest son and the small child begging for freedom.
"I'll try."
The king begins the magic, and the angels stand back and watch. He begins to sweat, and as soon as the magic is done, he stumbles and grips the arm of his throne.
"Notch? Notch?!" Ian exclaims. Everyone crowds around him, and Notch takes a few deep breaths.
"Give me some time. I'll be alright," he says weakly.
"No, you aren't. This is all my fault!" Adam cries.
"Shh, it's okay," Notch sighs, ruffling Adam's brunet hair. He stands up and unsteadily sits in his throne, where he takes a few deep breaths. "A lot of my energy was taken up. Just leave me to rest, and I'll be fine in a little bit."
Quintana flutters to his side and begins healing him with the little magic she has, returning the colour to Notch's face. Adam looks at the former demon on the floor, his eyes closed. His wings are the same, but his eyes, which he had seen during the transformation, are now a deep royal purple instead of a blazing Ender fire.
"Welcome to the family, little brother," Adam whispers.
And deep down inside, the little angel hopes that him and Ty can become best friends.
