Chapter 8
A/N: WATTPAD DECIDED TO JUST GO 'FUCK IT' WITH CHAPTER 8 AND DELETE IT. SO IT'S SHORT SORRY.
So far, I had to change my gauze 3 times in the last hour and a half. This wasn't good.
I put the book down I was reading and decided to go outside since the sun was setting and I wanted to talk to Carol, Carl, or Glenn. I was going to try and avoid Daryl and Rick since I knew they were pissed at me.
When I exited the tent no one was in sight. I began to grow worried until I heard yelling. I headed toward the noise and saw the whole group in front of the barn. Shane was walking down the line passing out guns while Rick tried to get him to stop and calm down, the whole group looked confused.
I walked up to the line and stood next to Carol, she gave me a slight nod and directed her attention back to Shane.
Daryl stood next to Glenn and he caught my gaze when I looked over. He glared and I raised my middle finger and itched the side of my nose. Hopefully my middle finger gesture would get the message across and tell him 'I'm so done with your crap'.
Shane made it to the end of the line and handed me a gun.
"Are you alright?" He nodded down towards my hands, I nodded and looked over towards rick.
He stood there and a numb expression was plastered on his face. Poor Rick. He was so done with everyone's shit.
Shane walked back over to the barn door and started banging his hand against it, I could hear the walkers getting all rallied up.
With one finally hit he opened the door and the walkers came flooding out of the barn and everyone started shooting.
Hershel was yelling over the gunshots trying to get everyone to stop while Beth was looking at the scene before her with shock. .
Pretty soon the gun shots stopped and the smoke started to clear. I could still hear shuffling inside and it sounded like it was just one walker. I got this.
I raised my gun as a little girl came out and I got ready to shoot, but quickly stopped when I heard someone scream Sophia, I instantly remembered the little girl everyone was talking about.
Poor Carol.
She started running over to Sophia but Daryl grabbed her and they both sunk to the ground. Carol was now breaking down and I knew what I would have to do.
I raised my gun once again and looked at the girl. The resemblance between Carol and the girl were evident and I hesitate to shoot, but I finally squeezed the trigger and the girl dropped to the ground.
Carol was still sobbing and I wanted to go over the and comfort her, but before I could, she had already stood up and walked back towards the RV.
I frowned and felt awful about the events that had just happened, no person should have to go through that.
Everyone was getting ready to bury Sophia and I knew I had to be the one to go and get Carol.
The walk to the RV felt like forever. I didn't know what I would say, I didn't even know how Carol would be. Once I reached the door I placed my hand on the handle and stared at for a moment before taking a deep breath and entering the RV. Carol sat on a chair up by the front, her head was placed in her hands and her back was shaking slightly.
"Hey Carol, are you coming to the ceremony?" I felt out of place, I was never good at comforting people and this was surprisingly hard for me.
She simply shook her head and her sobs got louder.
"You gotta, she's your kid."
"She was my kid!" She stood up and pushed me back. I stumbled back in surprise and hit the door.
"I'm sor-" I was cut off by Carol pushing me to the side and walking out, the door slammed shut behind her.
Wow, okay then.
The window in front of me was wide open and I could see that Carol arrived next to everyone. Daryl held her in his arms and a pang of jealousy washed through me.
Chill out Vogue, the lady's kid died and your getting pissed that she's touching Daryl.
I laughed at that thought but instantly covered it with a cough. This was a serious time and I couldn't go around laughing at everything.
Well I could, but I decided against it.
I finally headed out once the ceremony was over, because instead of Carol, I was now the one that didn't wanna attend it.
My feet padded against the soft carpet as I crept over to the door and exited the RV. The air felt colder than before and as it his my skin and I shivered.
Everyone was settled back at the campfire and no one was talking.
Awkward.
I decided to head over to the back of the house to survey the perimeter just for poops and giggles.
As I made my way over a few glances were shot my way and I knew everyone was wondering why I wasn't at the ceremony. I looked down at the green grass and tried to distract myself by seeing if I could find any grasshopper. Sadly, I didn't find any.
When I was almost to the back of the house a sickening smell flooded my nostrils and I almost gagged.
In the field in front of me seemed like hundreds of walkers. I ran as fast as I could to the campfire and started yelling at everyone. "Head to the cars! Walkers! They're coming! A whole hoard of them!"
Everyone rushed off the logs and most of the group fled towards the cars while some were gathering all their supplies. I ran towards the barn, I was going to distract the walkers while everyone tried to escape.
When I made it toward the barn the walkers noticed me and started walking towards me. That was one of the most scariest things I had seen in my life.
I stood there taking in the image before me.
Hundreds of walkers with their arms stretched out were creeping toward me. The group drove back and forth a few times, they were firing shots at the walkers. I heard the screams of the people that weren't so lucky and instantly felt sick.
Pulling a lighter from my pockets I sparked it and held it up to the driest part of the barn, it took a few tries but the flame finally spread and the barn was engulfed in flames. I ran out to the road just in time, all the walkers had noticed the fire and were heading towards it. A few were wandering away from the group and I saw members of my group getting eaten, the image was horrible.
I finally looked away and ran towards where the cars would be, but they were gone. The dirt path was empty. They left without me.
I was screwed.
The only exit was through the woods and I knew it wouldn't be safe, but I had to do it.
I was hoping that the group was where we had promised to meet if we were ever separated in a time like this.
Taking one last look at the farm, I hobbled into the woods.
My legs burned beneath me and my chest was on fire. I could hear groans behind me as I ran through the woods that were next to the highway. The groans started to get distant and I sighed in relief, but sadly all that relief was gone. I didn't notice the ground suddenly drop because I had decided to look over my shoulder and check for walkers, and before I could stop, it was too late.
I fell down the hill face first and I screamed as something penetrated my side. The hill finally ended and I looked down to assess the damage.
My side was punctured by one of my arrows and I had to pull the shirt I was wearing off, only leaving me in my bra. I ripped up the shirt in 3 pieces and tied one around my arm which was badly scraped, then I screamed as I tugged the arrow out of my side and quickly wrapped my shirt around my side, and then finally around my leg. My leg was bleeding almost as bad as my side and I yelped in pain as I continued down the road to where hopefully the group would be.
After an hour of walking my vision was getting blurry and I knew that all my injuries weren't helping, but I soon began to hear voices.
"You left 'er?" It was Daryl. I knew that voice from anywhere. His voice was thick with anger and I could tell it was directed towards Rick.
"Shane told me she was with him!" Rick yelled back in defense.
Shane was the reason why everyone left me, that little twat.
As soon as I was in a better condition I promised myself that I would be coming for him.
The group soon came into view and I could see the cars on the side of the road.
A fire was started by the side of the road and Daryl was no longer there.
My legs started to get weaker and I fell down to my hands and tried to crawl the rest of the way there.
I could feel my eyes trying to shut but I pried them open hoping I would make it.
Except I couldn't.
They were close enough to hear me if I could just call out, I tried but nothing came out. My throat was dry and it felt as if it was closing up.
I ended up laying on back as pain shot up through my side. Coughs exited my mouth and I knew someone heard me because a loud clang was heard and I tilted my head to the side to see Daryl standing there with his crossbow lying next to him. He ran towards me sat by my side engulfing me in a hug. Pain shot through my side but I ignored it, this was so worth it.
Daryl placed his hand under my chin and pulled my face up to his. His eyes showed sadness and he brushed his thumb over my cheek before screaming for the group. That's when I passed out.
And let me tell you, I was so done with passing out.
A/N: As you can see I was like, "Guess what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna combine two important events and mash them together in one day.
F for effort :)
I'm sorry, I just don't have much ideas that take place at the farm, after this chapter though, the plot won't follow the movie.
