Chapter 11
There was a knock at the door and I abruptly sat up and headed to the front door. My neck was still tingling and I tried to shrug it off as I made my way to the door.
Rick knocked once more and I hid behind the door since I was still in my underwear and one person seeing me in them was enough.
"Yes?" My voice was groggy and I looked down at the floor, I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone.
"Dinner is ready, if you guys want anything." I could see Rick smirk as his eyes wandered over to someone behind me.
I followed his gaze and saw Daryl still lying on the couch staring at the both of us. I huffed in annoyance and turned back to him, "Alright, thank you for telling me." The door was almost shut but his foot darted out so that the door wouldn't close.
"Get your friend and Merle for me please."
He removed his foot and I walked over to my bag and to put on some clothes.
Once I was finished I walked over to the bathroom. It was big and had a walk in shower and two sinks.
How nice.
Just for fun, I turned on the faucet and gasped.
Dark water dripped out and then came out in a steady clear stream.
"Daryl! Come here!" I yelled for him, excited that I had found clean water.
He rushed in with his crossbow raised, but lowered it once he saw I was okay.
"Jesus Vogue. I thought there was somethin' wrong."
"Clean water." My hand ran under the faucet and a smile formed on my lips, Daryl looked just as shocked as me.
"That means I can shower!"
"We'll tell everyone at dinner if they haven't found out."
I nodded and headed out the door with Daryl behind me. Daryl started to walk in front of me but got confused when I didn't follow.
"You alright?" He raised an eyebrow and walked back towards me.
"I gotta get Tia and Merle."
He nodded and I headed over towards the door, I could hear muffled laughter coming from inside and I was scared to enter. I knew they weren't dating and Tia definitely wouldn't let Merle try anything.
I knocked once but didn't get an answer. The door was slightly ajar so I pushed it open and took in the scene that was before me.
The room smelled heavily of pain fumes which was due to the paint on the walls. Patterns, lines, and designs were splattered on the walls and some of the furniture was covered in paint. Four opened paint buckets sat in the middle of the room.
Tia and Merle stood in front of each other and she reached down and scooped some paint out of the bucket and into her hand.
"You wouldn't girly." Merle growled, but as soon as that was said he was covered even more in paint. Merle went for revenge and the room turned hectic. Paint was flying back and forth and pretty soon, they both weren't recognizable.
Daryl and I knew what was happening. They were high on paint fumes. This was dangerous since their door or window wasn't open and I feared for their safety. Daryl stepped in to calm things down before anything even more disastrous happened.
"Merle, you're going soft." Merle spun around and paint hit the side of Daryl's head. Tia snickered from behind him and walked out the door while I watched the two go at it.
"See you guys downstairs." I exited the room and followed Tia's blue footprints due to the paint.
I finally found where everyone was and Tia stood in front of the door that entered the breakfast area debating whether she should go in or not.
"I'll go with you." She nodded and we both entered through the brown swinging doors. The smell of food was in the air and the whole group was scattered around at different tables. Everyone stopped once they saw the blue, green, red, and purple paint colored Tia.
"What happened?" Rick stood up from his seat but I motioned for him to sit back down. I was about to explain until the doors swung forward and something bumped into my back. I gasped at the sudden jolt but felt a hand on my elbow.
Daryl and Merle stood behind me, both were covered in paint. Daryl was the one that had his hand on my elbow and when he noticed he removed his hand.
Fine, be that way.
The whole group was now looking at us in awe. I decided to ignore the fact that most of us were covered in paint and went to the important news. I took a seat by Carl and Daryl sat beside me. Merle and Tia took an empty table behind us.
"There's running water." I blurted out.
Rick nodded and murmurs were heard from the rest of the group, "Yes, we know, I was just about to tell everyone. Obviously you guys need it." He motioned to the paint.
Daryl looked down at his food awkwardly and I heard Tia behind me ask Merle if he had a headache as well.
"That's what happens when you sniff too much paint fumes." I turned around to face them and laughed.
We discussed how everyone was feeling and how our rooms were.
"Shane and I are going out to set up barriers if anyone needs us."
They exited the door and headed out with their weapons.
"You gonna tell us what happened?" Glenn asked once most of the group was gone.
"What do you mean?"
Daryl still sat beside me and he looked up at Glenn to what he was saying.
"You're all covered in paint and Tia's over there groaning in pain."
Sure enough, Tia sat at the table holding her head while Merle traced his fingers over what was a partially visible pattern on her arm. A white tattoo or some kind of drawing.
"Tia and Merle redecorated the room and decided to be dumbasses and not open any windows or 'ave some sort of ventilation." Daryl said, joining our conversation.
"You sure that's it?" Glenn smirked and I knew what he was getting at. "Screw you Glenn." I stood up and walked out and off towards our room. I was going to take a long and needed shower.
