Chapter 10
A/N: I should be doing my OVERDUE homework right now, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, this isn't a story that'll be a love at first sight thing,
so it'll kinda be awhile till something happens.
They'll both have cute moments though.
Merle ran down the hall and Tia and I followed right behind. He was screaming as loud as he could for his brother and I could hear everyone upstairs suddenly stop moving.
"Merle, I know you're excited to see your brother, but you're attracting walkers." I scolded him and looked out the front door, so far there wasn't any walkers in sight.
"Shut up," he growled at me and continued his screaming.
The door to the stairs swung open and Daryl came out with the group following right behind him. He paused for a moment and stared at Merle as if he wasn't real.
"Son of a bitch." He ran towards Merle and engulfed him in a hug. I could hear Merle snicker at his actions.
"Don't be going soft on me now brother." Daryl pushed away from Merle and shook his head, "Always a jackass."
I took this moment to look at Tia since she was standing beside me. On closer inspection I noticed she had a septum piercing. It was a tiny silver hoop. I could have never been able to tell if I hadn't looked closer.
She noticed me looking and her hand went up to the ring and she gave it a little tug.
"I always forget this is here."
"It looks amazing." She nodded at me and looked back over to Merle and Daryl.
"What's your name?" Even though I knew, I decided to make small talk.
"Tia, yours?"
"Vogue."
"That's a rad name."
I laughed and noticed Daryl looking at me and then at Tia.
"Who's this?" His voice became rough again and I knew he wasn't going to be taking chances with the new girl.
Merle turned back towards Tia and opened his arms, "This 'ere is my princess. Come 'ere girly."
She shuffled over and ignored Merle's open arms.
"It's Tia, not princess."
"Don't care." Merle grumbled back.
"Nice to make your acquaintance. I'm Tia. Anyways, if you don't want me to stay then I'll be heading off. Merle finally found you so I know he doesn't need me." She paused for a moment and looked at Daryl for an answer, he nodded. She started to walk towards the door, but I stepped in before she could leave.
"No, Tia. Please stay, right Daryl?" I looked over at Daryl who simply shrugged his shoulders.
Merle must have agreed with me, because he too was trying to get Tia to stay.
"Come on, ye can't leave." Tia paused for a moment, but her hands were still placed on the door handle.
Daryl squinted at Merle and looked back at Tia, "You two together? Why's my brother caring so much about ye? He's never like this."
"No. We're not together." I could hear the agitation in her voice and she looked back at the door. I felt as if she would just do what she wanted and go on her own way, even if the group said she could join.
"What'ya talking 'bout? We've been together for 2 months. Ain't that something?"
"Yeah," she paused and I could see she was thinking about something, "but I think Daryl's talking about something else." She hesitated and I felt bad for her, it sucked being asked such awkward questions in front of everyone.
"It's not my decision to decide." Daryl looked at the group and I instantly knew what he was thinking, "She's all yours Rick."
Tia was now leaning against the metal beam by the door and her eyes were closed while she waited for the groups answer.
I don't see why not, she seems like she could take care of Merle.
Her eyes darted open and she started coughing. "TWO months! TWO! That's how long I was with him, and now I have to deal with him some more? Fine, but I hope you enjoy feminist rants because that's kinda my thing." She finally gave up and walked towards the group, "Which floors have been cleaned out?"
"Just the first one, we're gonna do the rest later, but this is a huge hotel. Also, everyone of you are gonna have to pair up since we only cleared enough rooms to fit two people.
I could hear some people grumble and Tia darted up the stairs to get first pick of the rooms.
The group stared at Daryl, Merle, and I.
"What happened? Are you okay? Where were you?" I was bombarded with questions and I put my hands up to try and get them to calm down.
Daryl stomped over to me and once again started yelling at me, "Are you seriously wandering off? You need rest, go upstairs now." I huffed and turned around.
"Just awhile ago I thought you didn't care!" I called back remembering the previous events that happened when he yelled at me for my little joke.
Everyone was watching us but I didn't care. I ran all the way down the hallway trying to find a room as far as I could form everyone else.
The last door was shut and a X was spray painted onto the white door. My fingers ran over the bottom part of the X and the silver paint stuck to my hands, it was fresh, this must have been Tia's. I decided to take the room next to it since I knew she wouldn't bother me.
When I entered the room there was a bed in one room and a couch in the main area. The whole area was clean and I sighed in relief. Thank god, I finally didn't have to sleep with the smell of walker guts lingering in the air.
The room overall was huge.
I obviously wasn't the only one enjoying this because I heard a few thumps coming from the other room. I put my ear on the wall and heard an excited Tia go, "Nutella? Unopened? Fuck yes."
I looked around the room wondering where she could have gotten the Nutella and my eyes landed on the kitchen cabinets. I ran over to them and flung them open, tons of snacks were all placed on shelves and I felt like screaming with joy.
I pulled down some Doritos and went grabbed a bottle of water from the shelf. I would go look to find a soda machine once everyone was settled in since I didn't feel like talking to anyone right now.
I took off my shoes, pants, and shirt and jumped onto the couch with my snacks.
After a half an hour there were the sounds of people talking and doors shutting, I knew that everyone was choosing there rooms and I closed my eyes and waited for the sounds to die down.
As soon as everything quieted down I heard voices outside my room and then a knock. I put my snacks on the table and looked through the peephole. Daryl stood there moving his hair out of his face and picking at his nails.
I hid myself behind the door since I was still in my underwear.
"Yes?"
He must of not noticed me open the door because he straightened up when he heard my voice.
"I thought you weren't gonna open that door."
I raised my eyebrow confused at what he was getting at.
"Your point?"
"He stuffed his hands in his jeans, "This is the only room 'eft."
"What about Merle?" I poked my head out a little further and looked down the hall, no one was in sight.
"He's next door," he nodded his head toward Tia's room, "with 'is girlfriend."
"They're not dating."
"Never ever 'ave I seen him talk to anyone like he does with that girl."
I nodded and opened the door wider.
He took that as his invitation in and walked over to the couch. He still didn't notice that I was in my underwear and I sighed in relief, but sadly he turned around.
"Where did ya get the chi-" He stopped and looked at me up and down. I laughed at the thought of Daryl Dixon checking me out.
"Get used to this hun, and there's food in the cabinets. Also, I was sitting there." But he already had sat down and I huffed in annoyance.
His cheeks were red and I knew it was from me being semi-nude.
I decided to mess with him even more.
I strutted up to him and pointed down to the couch, "Move."
He simply ignored me and swung his feet up on the couch and leaned back.
"Fine, be that way."
I took my chips off the table and sat on his stomach. I could feel him sigh but he still didn't move.
I turned onto my back and tried to lay so that I my back was on his side and my head was resting on his.
It was uncomfortable since his hip bones were cutting into my spine.
I reached down to grab a chip but I was pulled off of him and I yelped in surprise. It took my a moment to realize what had happened, but here I was laying in front of Daryl on the tiny space he made for me.
"So I take it you're not mad at me."
He grunted and I took that as a yes.
I poked his cheek and he tried to nuzzle his head into my neck to get away from my poking, but as soon as he did that I felt different. His touch made me feel alive and I darted up. My breathing had grew heavier and I looked down at Daryl. He laid there looking up at me confused.
"You alright?"
I nodded and stood up, "Just tired, that's all."
"Carol's making something to eat and we'll head down to the breakfast area once it's ready." He mumbled and turned toward the couch so that his back was out towards the room.
I walked over to my bag and threw it down by the bed. I sat in the room for a bit and touched my neck where Daryl's face was just moments ago.
What was happening?
