Chapter 9

KRISTA'S POV

After pulling me through the mirror, Erik continued to lead me through the narrow hallways. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He looks exactly like Gerald Butler when he played the phantom in the movie. He has silky black hair, beautiful dark blue eyes, and he's wearing the white half mask. I snapped out of my thoughts when he turned his head to look at me and he smirked at me as he continued to lead me through the narrow pathways.

I couldn't believe my eyes! Erik is taking me to his lair. I always fan girl at this part and I always dreamed of him taking me to his lair and now its happening. As we are walking through the hallways, there are some candelbras along the walls and they were being held by golden hands. They moved away as we walked passed them. I can hear the opening song to Phantom of the Opera. I couldn't help but sing Christine's parts.

"In sleep, he sang to me. In dreams he came. That voice which calls to me. And speaks my name. And do I dream again for now I find. The Phantom of the Opera is there, inside my mind."

While I sang this part, Erik stopped for a moment without releasing my hand and using his other one to pick up a torch from the wall and he continued to lead me through the hallway. We climbed down a spiral staircase and as I looked up, we are well below the Pirmia donna's dressing room. Once we got to the bottom, a black horse was standing there, waiting for us. I love horses but, I've never ridden one before. Erik could sense my nervousness before he gently rubbed his thumb over my hand before he started singing.

"Sing once again with me. Our strange duet. My power over you. Grows stronger, yet. And though you turn from me, to glance behind. The Phantom of the Opera is here. Inside your mind."

While Erik sang this, he helped me onto the black horse's back. I held onto the reins for dear life as he led the horse through the hallways until we came across an under ground river system. There's also the famous gondola and there are two lanterns lit on each side of it. Erik stopped the horse and then he came back to me before he placed his hands on my waist and helps me off of the horse's back. Erik led me the gondola and helped me onto it before he did. I sat down and I can feel my inner phantom girl screaming because this is every fans' dream to be here. I held back my excitement as Erik picks up a long pole to push the gondola forwards.

"Those who have seen your face, draw back in fear. I am the mask you wear," I sang as I looked forward.

"Its me they hear..." Erik sang.

"Your/my spirit and my/your voice in one combined. The Phantom of the Opera is there, inside your/my mind,"  We sang in unison.

"He's there, the Phantom of the Opera. Beware, the Phantom of the Opera," The echoes of the chorus singers sang before the climate of the song started. They didn't use that part in the movie but, they did for the stage version of this song.

"In all your fantasy, you always knew. That man and mystery," Erik sang.

"Were both in you," I sang back.

"And in this labyrinth, where night is blind. The Phantom of the Opera is here/there, inside my/your mind," We sang in unison once more as we approached the iron gates which led to Erik's lair.

"He's there...the phantom of the Opera," I sang before I sang the vocal part of the song.

"Sing, my angel of music!" Erik commanded me as the curtains pulled back and then the gate raised.

I continued to sing as we made our way closer to his lair. I looked around the room to see a huge organ, papers that have been scattered everywhere, candles lit everywhere and there's a lot of pictures and drawings as well. His home is exactly like the one in the movie.

"Sing, my angel! Sing for me!" Erik commanded as I sang the vocals higher.

"Sing, my angel! SING FOR ME!" Erik shouted before I sang the high note to end the song.

I gasped for air and clutched my throat after that. It had been a while since I was able to sing that song not to mention that I haven't sang that high since my mother tried to teach me how to sing Opera. I looked around and I was in the Phantom's lair. I couldn't believe my eyes when we finally arrived here. Amy's going to be so jealous.

Erik stepped off the gondola and then he grabbed the shoulders of his cape before he twirled it around his body and dropped it to the ground. He slowly turned to look at me before he sang once again.

"I have brought you, to the seat of sweet music's throne to this kingdom where all must pay homepage to music, music..."

As he sang, I looked around his lair and I watched as he walked closer to his organ before turning his back towards me. "You have come here, for one purpose and one alone."

Erik turned to look at me before he continued, "Since the moment I first heard you sing, I have needed you with me, to serve me, to sing, for my music..my music."

I lost my smile when he sang that part because I couldn't remember when he first heard me until I remembered a few months ago when I sang alone on stage. He must've heard me singing then. I snapped out of my thoughts when he started to sing my favourite song of all time 'Music of the night.'

"Nighttime sharpens, heightens each sensation. Darkness stirs and wakes imagination. Silently the senses, abandon their defences..." Erik sang as he slowly approached me before he held out his hand and then he helped me stand up and out of the little boat.

"Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendour. Grasp it, sense it tremulous and tender," Erik sang as he beckoned me with his finger to follow him.

I looked around the lair before I felt his gloved fingers touch my cheek to make me look at him. "Turn your face away from the garnish light of day. Turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light..."

I saw the mini version of me and the stage while I was wearing the Think of Me dress. I guess Erik predicted this was going to happen and not Christine, for some reason.

"And listen to the music of the night..." Erik sang as he walked back to his organ and looked back at me.

"Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams! Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before!"

I closed my eyes as he commanded while listening to that sweet and tender voice of his, "Close your eyes, let your spirit soar!"

I slowly opened my eyes to see him staring right at me again. He smiled at me as he slowly made his way back to me.

"And you'll live, as you've never lived before."

Erik held out his hand to me again and I gently grasped it before he continued to sing.

"Softly, deftly, music shall caress you. Hear it, feel it, secretly possess you."

He sang as he pulled me closer to him so our faces were inches away. For a moment, I thought he was about to kiss me but, he didn't. He let go of my hand and then he walked around me. My eyes followed him as he walked around me while I stayed still as a statue.

"Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind, in this darkness that you know you cannot fight the darkness of the music of the night," Erik sang while walking through the row of the lit candles. The half of his face lit up as he walked through the rows of the candles. I smiled at him which caused his smirk to grow bigger.

"Let your mind start a journey through a strange, new world! Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before! Let your soul take you where you long to be!" Erik sang after he made his way back to me. I could see the joy and happiness in his eyes as he stared at me.

"Only then can you belong...to me," Erik sang softly as he brushed his gloved finger tips on my cheeks and jawline.

He held my hands before he slowly turned me around so my back was pressed against his chest.

"Floating, falling, sweet intoxication," Erik sang while running his hands cross my hips, waist and stomach. I rested my head against  his shoulder before he grabbed my hand and placed it on his left cheek.

"Touch me, trust me, savour each sensation," Erik sang into my ear which sent shivers down my spine. I turned to look at him again before he held my hand and continued to lead me.

"Let the dream begin; let your darker side give in. To the power of the music that I write," Erik sang before he grabbed both of my hands.

"The power of the music of the night."

We stopped walking and we were next to a small room that was covered by a curtain until Erik moved it to the side. He nodded his head for me to take a look. I thought it was going there was going to be a mannequin of Christine wearing the wedding dress but no. There's a mannequin of me instead! I remembered that she fainted in this part so thanks to my excellent acting skills, I pretended to faint. I knew the moment I fell, Erik caught me in his arms and I can feel him picking me up like a bride and he carried me into another room while holding me close to his chest.

I felt Erik walking towards something before I felt my back press against something soft and I knew that he had placed me on the swan bed. It took all of my will power not to open my eyes and did my best not to move as Erik ran his finger on my cheek while feeling his warm breath against my cool skin.

"You alone can make my song take flight...help me make the music..of the...night..." Erik sang while holding that last part as long as he could. Even I had to admit that Gerald Butler had to have lungs of steel to hold a note that long.

I laid there as still as I possibly could before I heard the sound of the organ playing softly. I opened one eye to make sure that Erik is definitely out of the room before I opened both of them. I slowly sat up to see that I was laying on the swan bed with the lacy curtain around the bed and me. I giggled quietly because it was my fantasy to wake up and find myself in Erik's lair. I laid back down and closed my eyes with a smile on my face.
